Imo Wes Malott Just got bad breaks and those few pins costed him the game. Haugen throws a relativly straight ball and Wes on the other hand was throwing a wide arcing hook O_o.

I'm was so happy to see Michael Haugen to finally win his 1st title! I got to bowl with him at a pro-am during the inaugural Earl Anthony Memorial tournament in 2002, he was such a nice, fun guy to be around. He was way too good to have been around for 14 years without a title. He's paid his dues and finally got a break on TV when Wes rang the 10. Congratz Mike!!!

its called rev tape. protects the fingers and has a little surface on it to create more friction in the grips

yes it is the same thing as brunswick thumb tape. in fact it is the same stuff just different companies make it in different colors. my opinion brunswicks is better because it is stickier and does not come off as easily. it will do just fine to protect your fingers. i used the stuff a couple months ago and it worked well.

It seems like Wes bowled the better game. He was solid in the pocket except for the one light shot that carried the 5 pin on the left lane. He unfortunately left the 9 pin then even after the move he left a 10 pin.

Haugen often went high or light and wasn't penalized for his errors.

That's the pros and cons of straight and looping it. Looping it creates a bigger angle when the ball faces up, but too much face leaves you a nine. Not enough, rap 10.

The straighter players generate more hold area since their roll is more end-over-end, hence the higher shots tend to carry more, but they also leave a lot more 10s since their angle isn't as wide as the 3-quarter rollers.

Haugen does barely slide, it's part of being an extreme stroker. Very small slide, but perfect timing. But yes, he does bowl in just tennis shoes sometimes, and actually can throw the ball just as well in sandals

Michael Haugen wears the Dynorooz (G3) shoes, but instead of a slide and a non slide, he wears 2 Non Slid shoes. At the end when he receives his trophy you can see that he has a Kevlar Toe Cap on both of his shoes (toe caps are only on the non slide foot)

Haugen actually wasn't using the ball he gave the kid, it was a blank (undrilled ball) that he was planning on giving away. Looks like good karma worked out for him ;)
