    thanks

  • Great information man. I'm an amateur writer and artist, things I do for personal side-hobbies. Iv'e been thinking about combining the two into something like a small graphic novel or something just to start, but first I want to improve the two skills. I don;t know how serious I'll get about it in the future but advice like this always helps for reference.

  • @SonicobbsessedR2 thanks glade I could help.

  • Making A Graphic Novel of Touching Spirit Bear by Bret Mikaelsen Wish Me Luck :DD

  • @Imagineer5986

    get it done!

  • Nice work.. I am currently starting a Graphic Novel myself and I do a lot of thing that you explain, but also gathered new info too. Im just on a toss up of how i want it to look.. I do mostly realistic drawings but i am thinking about keeping a comic book style to it. If you check out my video of a speed painting i did, do you think that would work for a graphic novel (illustration wise)??

  • @jay1283 Great painting of Rondo, you have to do it your way thats the half the fun.

  • so coooool

  • Akira is flat out the best Asian graphic novel ever!!!!

  • "Ok lets see... we got some paper, some pencils, some paper... um... some paper, some reference photos, a drawing table, some paper... maybe a digital camera, doesnt have to be all fancy, some paper, some utincils, a printer, some paper"...lol

  • @Drugernautt

    Thanks

  • A good reference movie would be creepshow

  • @coopebt true

  • Brandon Robinson, I love you!!

    I really really love you!!

    You are my friend!!

It is really nice to find a sincere youtuber who really wants to help others, but it’s rare to find someone who you really take a liking to, and feel relaxed watching his/her videos.. You are my friend Brandon!

I also noticed the heavy breathing! You should look after your health! <:-)

Also, isn't it dangerous to place the water cup on top of your book shelf? (05:05) Water might spill and ruin your library!!

  • @Rewayah true

  • Welcome to the Good Burger home of the Good Burger can i taker your ORDA!!! ROFL JK your a cool dude

  • "Don't copy artists"

I disagree. The last thing a beginner should worry about is 'creating their own style'. One's own style comes with years and years of drawing & painting practice and experience. When I was in school we had to do countless "Master copies" of various artists from Rossetti, Michelangelo, Caravagio to current artist like Frank Miller, John Byrne, etc. Also "copying" tons of anatomy is key to learning how to draw well.

  • @razorblade42069 he's developing his own style from his inspirations.

  • @Kyorere23

What does your statement really mean? It's clear he's "developing his style from his inspirations",but his statement about not copying other artists is nonsense.Copying a favorite artist will teach anatomy, how a particular artist creates impact, perspective, layout and composition, gestures, etc.I've been drawing for 30 years and still copy artists (recently Marvels McNiven & Djurdjevic)for practice.Learn, emulate imitate & absorb and then use that knowledge to surpass in your own way.

  • @razorblade42069 its easy to have very many inspirations, and your work will still be very original. it's mainly the story you don't want to have any similarities to, but to be completely original.

  • omg you bought a printer for pc!!!!§ and you have a mac, so the first step is always look if its for pc or mac

    step 2 dont forget it

    :)

  • you love money

  • u make even your own paper awesome !!!!!

  • ebay ebay ebay u really care about monoey and bussines :)

  • did u ever made a graphic novel?

  • @Ikizy68108

I did but never got it out.

  • Jee, why do good videos like these don't make it to the main page? this is like, helpful :)

  • @VoiceOfJack I totaly agree!! =D

  • Hey Brandon,

Just pick up the DC Comics Guide to Digitally Drawing

    I will start here

    Thanks

  • @Nitecrawler23 yes read that, but you will need basic understanding of Photoshop.

  • Hey Brandon,

Task for a begginer on drawing

    I have a wacom intuis 4

    And adobe suit

What things do I need to

    Do everyday to become better

I like to draw soldiers military stuff

    Thanks let me know

    Later

  • @Nitecrawler23

First get as much reference as you can to draw from, the internet will give a lot of it for free. second draw every day what you like thats the key is to do it day in day out even if its only a hour a day.

  • @brandonrobinson5150 Also helpful; drawing from life, draw what you see, draw your friends. Anything helps. You'd be surprised how learning to draw draperies helps your understanding of the folds in a soldier's uniform.

  • no fear of admitting piracy? your the man.. lol but all kidding aside.. your videos are really great... keep it up

  • Thank u that was helpfull I'll have to check out part 2

  • WOW you should make a real book and get it on the shelf's

  • Hey you use blender. Cool! I used to have a wacom. My pen died, tried to buy a spare. But the dealer said the model was phase out. They suggest to buy a newer model(including the pad). Its a little expensive to buy a new one. So I bought a knock off from china instead. Its cheaper than the pen I intend to buy in the first place. It works fine on win7 x64. You have to delete a usb32.dll (I think) to work. Btw I used it for Zbrush

  • Amazing!

I know you moved to Cintiq 21UX, but, I have no money for it.

Would you recommend the 12WX? looks just like what I need!

Please comment! You are very very talented! :D

  • @dindush1

The 12WX is a great choice.

  • Thanks for this, Brandon.

  • I use photos of buildings, towns, and forests for references to draw backgrounds too. some guy told me that if i dont draw it straight from my mind its cheating but i told him he doesnt know what he's talkin about.

  • @fromstart2finish

Thats right all pros use reference.

  • dude, i got the Bamboo tablet for my b-day 2 years ago, an it is awesome! smooth tablet and extremely awesome for pressure.

  • u sound a little like denzel washington! i dont kno why but anywayy love the vid

  • @luva90

    thanks

  • Very nice tutorial! I love how you take suggestions.

    Instant Sub.

  • Are you published? Where can I find some of your work?

  • Dear God, man. Your setup is mighty! I like the way everything is organized in there.

    Also, AKIRA!

  • Really enjoy your hands on / personal experience approach. Please post more I just subscribed. BTW if you want to do the art in a vector software like inkscape, what is the best process.

  • New videos coming soon. I use vector programs in my art but I'm mostly a Photoshop guy.

  • dude u are a cool guy.

and i rekon you could so be a concept art university teacher. you should do it man!

  • i should

  • @Norksy "and i rekon you could so be a concept art university teacher. you should do it man!"

That is soooo true!! He has the potential!!

  • Hey, if you ever get around to it ,could you please do a video were you ink a sketch with ur cintiq 12wx?

I'm think of buying one for inking my work but have yet to see anyone on here inking with the cintiq 12wx.

  • I still ink the old way, I know that a lot of people do it digitally but not me.

  • Really? That's interesting. Could you tell me/us why you prefer inking traditionally over digitally?

I personally think the 12WX is perfect for inking, because you can just Undo your actions if you mess up.

  • Would it be nice if someone did a digital version of alex ross for comics.

  • Comment removed

  • Haha I like the way you think like the Net Flix stuff. I'm a beginning artist; very young (13). This is a very informative show in the artists' world. The comic that was on your Cintiq was cancelled wasn't it? It's a shame because it looked pretty great. Anyways have a nice day.

  • yeah some 1 under stands me

  • awesome vid. I always enjoy seeing peoples art studios/work stations. for some reason just pumps me up to want to draw.

lol, money is tight, but you have a lot of expensive materials.

  • Thanks man.

  • P.S. I hear you about the paper. I say that board paper in an art shop and they wanted like $30-40 for it. But I live in Australia so everything cost double.

  • I have that poses Book. It's great you're prepared! Can't wait to see the rest of your vids, please keep going no matter what. It's clear you got what it takes.

  • Great vid man! I'm currently writing a script for 2 graphic novels and would love to see more of the process!

  • Thanks for the vid my friend and I have benn working on a graphic novel for awhile we use tablets too! it really helps
