In the aforementioned Billboard article, Joe Davis lists his entire catalog (?) of masters for the Davis records for sale to the highest bidder, including the rights to all future royalties (split with the artists, of course), etc. etc. I wonder who bought the record masters, and where they are today?
ALSO: I just found a PDF listing of the "John L. Clark Collection of Jazz Keyboard Recordings" at Virginia Commonwealth University, that shows the missing discs in their collection! The sides are: "A Serenade to You" and "Goin' Nowhere Fast" (Davis 34-1 and 34-2); and "Moonrise on the Caribbean" and "88 Keys to Brooklyn" (Davis 34-5 and 34-6). According to "Billboard" magazine, March 22, 1947, page 17, "Davis" records were apparently owned by publisher Joe Davis.
Wonderful waltz! A little bit of it (just a couple of bars) sounds almost note-for-note identical to Charlotte Blake's 1909 waltz "Lily Eyes", possibly a coincidence or perhaps Signorelli had played that waltz when he was young.
