I was the only kid in my town who could even make it past the first lava pit in the first castle. This game took so much cash from me when I was young, but I held my head high knowing I beat the thing in my lifetime.
very fast, but a little sloppy in areas. fast punishment of the bosses is where the time is made up. couple of key ram's head pickups. skillful log rafting and vine jumping. 9/10
@EseHolmes77: ThankYou very much, I studied how to afford jumps and rivers one by one. The thing I mostly liked was discovering this way to kill 4th boss. I remember that, when playing in the 80s on real arcade, it was a pain in the ass: there was a safe way, but *very* long, or the kamikaze way, extremely dangerous. This 4-jumps kill is the best improvement I did.
Nice! Odd that this version is short a level compared to the Master System version. Missing boss is a large dragon that takes up the whole screen, you fight its head.
One of those games that SEEMED a lot better than it actually was - I dug it out on MAME a while back and while it was amazing for it's time (you were effectively playing a Steve Jackson/Ian Livingstone adventure book) it was fundamentally flawed: the collision detection was gash; the jumping was constipated and it just didn't flow very well. Kudos for its detail though - you could backtrack and buy new weapons. :O)
@azshaw123 No I am sorry but it wasn't it.The one I was talking about,you can pick over 4 or more characters.You start in a castle talking to people,then you go in a cave.Hopefully we will find it.
Bosses die with 10 normal hits. Jump-hits or Axe-hits count three, so you need 4 jump/axe hits to kill a boss. Only fifth (Hydra) boss is slightly different, because of the heads, that are independent.
First I remember Rygar then came Rastan. Rygar had that spike yo-yo weapon, don't know if related.... I loved this game in the 80's, spent lots of quarters, can't say I had a run like this, usually ended up in a fire trap or bats swarming on me to drain my energy. Good Job

Okay. This had to be set on easy settings. I played the hell out of this game as a kid, and now on my ps2, and it is NOT that easy. None of the bosses even took a swipe at you, and the special weapons lasted forever. BTW, the final boss is a huge 5 headed dragon, not some little bitch that takes one shot to the head to kill. Sorry to rain on your parade. Having said that, it was still fun to watch. Loved this game.
No, it's played on normal (default) settings. I don't know which version you say you played the hell out when you were a kid, but this is the emulation (on MAME) of the *original arcade version*. Both original arcade and emulated arcade *never* had a 5 headed dragon as final boss. But there still is a 5 headed Hydra as *fifth* boss, as you can see at 5:18
Bosses: If you get skilled enough to rapidly hit them 4 times while jumping or with the axe, as I do, well, they die. Thats' it.
Great arcade run. Fastest I've seen! The music in this game is so epic, so powerful, so......it just grabs your soul. I especially love the dungeon music when it hits the crescendo and the bat swarms fly at you.

@mrlemmon & @azshaw123 - the game you're thinking of is Taito's 'Cadash'.
