i got a few metal demo's on my page all made with steven slate drums. the kit i use is "cracky metal kit" if you like full bodied sharp drums and clicky sounding kick drum that is the kit to use
hey i got steven slate drums but i cant use the keyboard on it (im using Kontakt 3) so i got the program but i cant test the sounds to see which one i like. Im gonna use it for my roland TD-9k2 drum kit but i dont have my converter yet. Plz help. Also how do i put Steven slate drums on fruity loops mybe that would fix it?

you do realize that setting a fast attack WONT let the transients poke through, right? first, take your kick out of the parallel bus so the low end doesnt compress when it shouldnt. then set your attack to 30ms. ratio doesnt need to be that high, just lower the threshold with a lower ratio to get a cooler effect. 6-8db gain red. is all you really need for a good parallel comp. but truthfully, those dry samples dont need it at all.
Ok I get it now, you're re-routing the ouput to a bus channel, not adding a bus out via send. Also love the idea of a 2nd output bus send to do away with the delay the comp plug in introduces. Gonna try this today, just got the Slate Trigger Platinum plug for PT8 HD
At 3:45 you don't need to copy the plugin that introduces the delay to get rid of the delay. In LE, add a time adjuster plugin. If you are in HD, you can just turn on delay compensation.
To find out how much delay you need to compensate for, just command click the volume display on your track in the mixer, twice. (where it reads "vol 8.1" or whatever your volume is set to). this will switch the view between Volume meter (vol), Peak meter (pk) and finally, delay (dly).
thanks man. I thought the snares and kicks were the same, are you using the platinum version? Because the snares and kicks I believe should be the same, I have drumagog as well and use that occasionally, but there are I believe 2x as many kits in the platinum version.
wow this is a really good tutorial. i have steven slates also, do u no what audio file/gog snares that "snare 2" and the kick would be? i am loving the snare and kick sound ur using. i am using drumagog and just replacing the drums. they r just labeled differently from the midi version
I LOVE YOU, MAN!

Great tutorial. Do you then record the 2 drum buses to an audio track after u got your levels tight or just leave it 2 auxs for the bounce?

I just bought mine a few days ago... I'm having issue with them being too quiet.. They aren't blending in well with the mix. But they sound awesome!

Turn everything else down or try using GClip.
