these guys have gained such an insanely huge and dedicated fanbase in such a short period of time. their first album was pretty overlooked but as soon as Everything Is Fire was released people were blown the fuck away. not a doubt in my mind that these guys have skill beyond skill.

@thychaos no not because of the screams. the guitar and the whole feeling feels "black" for me. i don't listen to black metal so i don't know what is the typical black metal song, but ulcerate is that much darker than any other band i ever heard.

It's definitely the best kind of death metal ! it has to sound negative, oppressive, ominous ...

noting black metal at all about it. smsome have compared it to deathspell omega's FAS. but that's because deathspell's FAS is death metal and not really black metal :)

@ogunsiron i mean, technical death comes from death metal. but other td bands like necrophagist (and i love em') are just not that dark and not bad-tempered. but ulcerate just has a whole lot of influence to your mood. Would love to see them live somewhen.

I'm glad there are bands like this in the tech vein because i don't really enjoy tech death that much. I often find it sterile. But tech + darkness and hate that feels so real is a very good combination

@klick2destruct Let me make some suggestions you might like: Mitochondrion, Portal, Vasaeleth, Dead Congregation. In my opinion they all belong to a new wave of death metal, emphasizing on atmosphere and ultimate darkness. Ulcerate's last two albums are similar to these bands.
