Great Muay Thai fighter but as a boxer he only fought moderate opposition and lost when he fought the only decent opponents on his record.
I was very sad when he lost to Fenech as i had only recently moved to Sydney and really wanted him to win (to shut up big mouth Fenech) but he got monstered.
Great MT fighter and tried to make it as a boxer as well but lost badly to Jeff Fenech (for a world title) an Australian who had limited skills but relentless aggression
at Jetshite: he was very skilled with hands. He had a WBC boxing world title belt. It's like muaythai4ko said: sometimes you win sometimes you lose. Was he the best boxer? probably not...but I'd rate Samart's boxing pretty fricken high...I'd say world class.
@cammytang yes but he was probably the best muay thai fighter ever a legend of the game like muhammad ali or sugar ray robinson in boxing.and as you said was a wbc champion which is a huge achievement !
i like very much Thai style, but some fighters fall to stereotype type of fighting.. HE IS NOT ONE OF THEM.. SAMART IS ONE OF THE BEST FIGHTERS EVER, INCREDIBLE MOVES
apart from the huge weight difference, I dont think Yod would be able to get near to Samart to deliver the body shots because of his teep. Having trained with both and seeing Samart as he is now, even retired and older he could beat 90% of title holders out there. He is just without parallel.
R. Dekker was the one of many foreign boxers who willingly to fight under full muay thai rules. Now a day not many have that guts. therefore most of them stay away from this type of tournament.
i like that he simply approach his oppenent by walking in to cliche then the knee the s..t out of his opponent just like buakaw did to masato 04 and others in k1.. until they banned it. All muaythai trained or fighters know that it's way to encounter the fighter w/ great punching skills. That's why every intl. tournament, there are so many rules to elminate MT skills cos foreigners can't fight thai w/ full rules.

Ive always heard Samart kickboxed in an southpaw stance and boxed in an orthodox stance. Can anyone verify this?
buffalosoldier90 1 year ago
@buffalosoldier90 He boxed in southpaw and fought muay thai in either stance (mostly orthodox). Basically he was extremely good in both.

same time, many others lost to him.... what's ur f#$king point.?
muaythai4ko 2 years ago
my point was he wasn't that good with his hands....8 weapons = legend, just fists = useful but not world class

just like having one finger, a full push up would be unnormal.
