so basically all i need is an alesis DM5 and an extra bass drum in order to play as an electric drum? anything else im missing? Thanks would be appreciating!
@DrumDrumDrumBoy get a TriggerIO instead of an alesis DM5. that way you can use your computer as a drum module. If you have a crappy soundcard, just get ASIO4ALL or whatever it's called. It's a driver that works on a lot of soundcards that give them very low latency. When you got trigger IO and asio4all up and running you can use stuff like Addictive Drums (amazingly good) or stuff from FXPansion and whatnot. They sound absolutely amazing compared to the DM5.
I'm thinking of getting an Ion drum set. I had the Rock Band 2 drums but someone broke my pedal. I got the full refund still, thankfully. Anyway, I just wanna know, for the Ion set, during those "Freestyle" moments in the game, do the fills you do sync perfectly? Because usually there's a delay.
Anyone interest in buying my ION Drum Rocker core? ive used it four times and its amazing but someone stole my bike and i need a new one. perfect condition. message me if you have any questions!
can you buy a second bass pedal and a hi hat pedal for a total of 3 cymbals, 4 pads, and 3 pedals? I saw an awesome way to use RB@ drums as a MIDI controller, but I need these specs for the smallest configuration that gives enough variety.
@ionAudio are ther different drum kits for different rock bands, i.e. rb 1, rb 2, rb 3 or r they all the same? i have an xbox360 and i am getting rock band 1 and 2 from my friend, and then buying the rock band 3 disk.
This kit can be used as a drum kit outside of the game by adding a drum module or Alesis Trigger|iO to use it with a computer. Compared to spending $800-$3,000 plus on other electronic drum kits, $299.99 is a very good deal. On top of that, this is an industrial-grade kit compared to the game versions. Have a look at the condition of the original kit on display in a retail store after several months of use and you'll see why durability is important for players putting in a lot of game time.
i think its kinda pointless in them making a kit with 3 symbols and 4 pads considering how theres only 5 colours on the runway in the actual game (green, red, yellow, blue and orange)... so theres 2 of those pads not bein used cause u only use 5 of them in gameplay. I mean the kit looks cool n all but i just think its a waste of money when you can just get the standard kit (which isn't pointless). but thats just my opinion
Rock Band 2 produces a cymbal sound when you hit the cymbals, and a drum sound when you hit the drums in Freestyle mode. In game, playing cymbal crashes on a pad is very awkward for drummers, so this kit more closely maps to playing a real drum kit than the original does.
This is for Rock Band not Guitar hero, so the 4 main pads is all thats used, no orange cymbal. The cymbals are there just to make you look badass at a party i guess, That and the fact that drum fills sound better.
you need both....and u need teh regular guitar hero drum set.
u hook the drums to the module in the MIDI in, then u run a cable from the out to the MIDI on the GHWT drumset. then u have to set the drum codes on the module.
I've used this kit with Guitar Hero World Tour and Rock Band 2. It works perfectly with both. No rocket science to making it work either. Just plug and play.
in the game the red is snare, the yellow is hi hat, the blue is a ride cymbal and a tom, and same for the green.....in the song it doesn't matter which one u hit, but if u go into drum practice, u can hit the yellow, blue, or green drum for a tom drum sound, and hit the yellow cymbal for hi hat sound, green for crash, and blue for ride...its def worth 3 hundred and it can be used as a drum kit with a drum module
The drum module is another $300 though. Also you would need some kind of amp so like $100 for that. Realistically it would cost $700 for it to be a drum kit.
i now that ur not telling me anything new...i was one of hte very first to get it, right now i have a roland pdx-8 snare and roland cymbals, dual kick pedals. still no module or amp thought...u can just use practice mode on the game and have a drumset. never said that it was a 300 dollar electronic drum kit thought
theres 4 pads, red blue yellow and green and 2 cymbals - you can buy the third one
the cymbals make it more realistic you could either hit the yellow cymbal or the yellow pad, the green cymbal or the green pad ect and it would register as the same thing
You guys should start selling these wih the option to buy it without cymbals. For 50bucks a cymbal that would drop the price to 200$. I would definantly buy one for 200$ w/o cymbals and sure alot of other people would to just to have the pads. And we could always buy cymbals later on if we really wanted them. That's the only thing stopping me from buying this. Yall should really start having that option and why not? I bet yall would sell alot more of these.
I've been playing drums for about 7 years now. My electronic kit was around $1500. So, to be honest, I think $300 for a kit and $200 for a drum Brain is alright spending. AND you can use it for Rock Band, which is basically a bonus :D
lol u guys are saying $300 is a total rip off, but its not just a controller, its a REAL DIGITAL DRUMSET, that means unplug and play, like actual drums..
No, its about $200 for a drum brain which everything plugs into. So if you want to go from Rock Band to real Electric kit its gonna cost about $500, which is still relatively cheap for an electric set.
Ion ca take a beating and will last and has cymbols. It can also be used as a real electric drum kit :) THe RB2 drums will breal easily and has bad responsive timing. Am getting the Ion drum rocker 4 Christmas :D PS: So worth $300.00 and i heard that Ion said they would sell this drum kit 4 $100, but Harmonix i guess wants twice as much lol
on the little tiny clip of gameplay theres only 4 notes being shown that are able to hit? and it says rockband 2.. why's it showing gameplay from rockband 1?
Rockband came before the new guitar hero drums idiot. Guitar heros is only good for giutar, there new world tour one is the best, but rock bands drums are the best. Go figure.

its still a real drum kit still... an ELECTRONIC drum kit... YOU should read the description... if you buy a drum brain, you can use it as a drum kit...
dude some people do play real instruments and GH/RB. I play guitar hero and rockband and the electric guitar. So stop assuming that everyone that plays GH/RB cant play a real instrument
That's like saying don't play Call of Duty, just shoot people in real life. The drums are part of a game. The point of it is to play songs in the game and have a score and play with your friends.
Yes, actually it is. COD4 is a simulation of a fictional modern day war, and Rock Band is a simulation of actual instruments. Most people can't really play in a real rock band (as the case is with me), but Rock Band is the next best thing.
You're retarded. The GH drums are just even worse than the RB1's drums. Yes, the first Rock Band. I'm guessing you're probably those people that just barely got into the GH series, and started on GH3, and now you're on the band wagon as all the other "kids" that like GH:WT.
Get this straight: These are REAL professional electric drums. They are velocity sensitive and everything. But they are also compatible with Rock Band. This is a great choise for people who live in high rise buildings, where playing real drums would be just too loud.
Wow dude, is that really necessary!! I mean Rock Band is a very good introduction to drums, and yeah, maybe a lot of people who take it that seriously should spend the money on real drums. But some of us don't have living arrangments that would allow us the space to set up and/or play drums. I know my landlord would flip if I started playing on a real kit. To me, this looks like a great way to go.
All you people need to do your homework. THEY ARE REAL! They are real electronic drums, all that is needed is a brain. That's why they are 300 bucks, and that is why they are worth it (if you play the real tings, as wall as rockband).
this is great if u like rockband and are a drummer because they double as an electronic drumset, but if you just want them for rockband, unless you are a loaded bastard, these are not for you
jrizzyrizz is a dumbass. harmonix was making them for gh before they swithced over to rkbd so basically they were for gh but gh didnt get them first. jesus be with you
The thing about these is not only are they $300, but the electronic drum kit module actually costs an additional $350. This is really something to buy if you are actually interested in really playing drums along with RB. Still though, it just might be worth it to not have to put up with the crappy drum sets. :/ And don't get me wrong, I love RB and Harmonix, but they are pretty lacking when it comes to developing their own peripherals. Meanwhile, THIS is amazing, but it's EXPENSIVE.
get gh4 the cymbals cost 300 dollars and u dont even use them.this game didnt evolve at all unlike gh4 u use 5 things for drums and on rb2 u use 4 and on gh4 guitar theres a slidy thingie and a longer guitar and the mic is more able to understand pitch and les rough making it less painful to slap
guitar hero 4 blows, the only reason they added drums is cause they knew rock band 2 would completely oblitirate them if they didnt, and even now its only the hardcore guitar hero fans who want it, rock band 2 is so much better, activision should just stick to making tony hawk
No, Activision should just plain go out of business. They haven't done anything new with Tony Hawk in ages. Sorta like how they're going with the GH franchise....
yeah, but also if you get the "Brain" for I think 200 dollars you can plug it into an amp and play it as an electric drum kit. An average electric drum kit is around 1000 dollars so I think 300 dollars isnt bad.
The kit can actually be played as a regular electronic drum set when you buy the drum module with it, so not only do the cymbals correlate to a certain color (green yellow depending on if it is the crash or ride cymbal) in the game, but you can assign them to different cymbal sounds with the module.
Got mine on the way with an extra cymbal. only cost me $700...God, I'm a sucker haha
but not really because I am a drummer and can't have an acoustic set in my apt anyways so I wanted one anyways.
the set can tell if u hit the cymbol or the pad so it will give the sound of a cymbol or the tom dispite the same color, lus the ion set can be turned into a real e-kit but buying an add on they have since the kit is made by a company that makes real e-kits so its perfect for those who want a kit but live in a apartment or cant play there set to practice due to noise complaints so its a practice set and a game set which works with both RB@ and GHWT
Does it work with Guitar Hero Metallica..

BlooMassacre 3 years ago
sorry to ask this but will these make the noises of real drums when not plugged in?

SkyCuiCui 3 years ago
damn those are awesomeeeee except there freaking 300bucks omg
GordoLuis1234 3 years ago
Get this straight: These are REAL professional electric drums. They are velocity sensitive and everything. But they are also compatible with Rock Band. This is a great choise for people who live in high rise buildings, where playing real drums would be just too loud.

yeah let me do my homework on a fucking video game...
BOOMHEADSH0T 3 years ago
Wow dude, is that really necessary!! I mean Rock Band is a very good introduction to drums, and yeah, maybe a lot of people who take it that seriously should spend the money on real drums. But some of us don't have living arrangments that would allow us the space to set up and/or play drums. I know my landlord would flip if I started playing on a real kit. To me, this looks like a great way to go.
mithrandnar 3 years ago
All you people need to do your homework. THEY ARE REAL! They are real electronic drums, all that is needed is a brain. That's why they are 300 bucks, and that is why they are worth it (if you play the real tings, as wall as rockband).
salemcripple 3 years ago
This comment has received too many negative votes show
i could spend $300 towards real equipment rather than towards a fucking video game
BOOMHEADSH0T 3 years ago
it just a damn game so what
dsshfjjnh 3 years ago
These are real, just electric. Do your homework buddy.
Suolucidir 3 years ago
thats only for 360 and its 300 dollars just for those drums
Nareg95 3 years ago
this is great if u like rockband and are a drummer because they double as an electronic drumset, but if you just want them for rockband, unless you are a loaded bastard, these are not for you
killerhunter2008 3 years ago 2
jrizzyrizz is a dumbass. harmonix was making them for gh before they swithced over to rkbd so basically they were for gh but gh didnt get them first. jesus be with you
LARC43 3 years ago
if you want symbols for the cheaper rock band 2 drum kit they are $40 for 3 of them.
TheTrooper112 3 years ago
I herd some stores are not even selling the ion kit which pisses me off!
Pwnd517 3 years ago
i'm not buying rock band 2 cuz that's 300 bucks
gh4 drums have symbalds in them already and it's included with the game
benmoonrocks 3 years ago
Best 350 +25 for shipping I ever spent!!
hardangelsfan 3 years ago
The thing about these is not only are they $300, but the electronic drum kit module actually costs an additional $350. This is really something to buy if you are actually interested in really playing drums along with RB. Still though, it just might be worth it to not have to put up with the crappy drum sets. :/ And don't get me wrong, I love RB and Harmonix, but they are pretty lacking when it comes to developing their own peripherals. Meanwhile, THIS is amazing, but it's EXPENSIVE.
KEWB99 3 years ago
get gh4 the cymbals cost 300 dollars and u dont even use them.this game didnt evolve at all unlike gh4 u use 5 things for drums and on rb2 u use 4 and on gh4 guitar theres a slidy thingie and a longer guitar and the mic is more able to understand pitch and les rough making it less painful to slap
gob345 3 years ago
dude these are friken $300
sambone28 3 years ago
guitar hero 4 blows, the only reason they added drums is cause they knew rock band 2 would completely oblitirate them if they didnt, and even now its only the hardcore guitar hero fans who want it, rock band 2 is so much better, activision should just stick to making tony hawk
jrizzyrizz 3 years ago 2
No, Activision should just plain go out of business. They haven't done anything new with Tony Hawk in ages. Sorta like how they're going with the GH franchise....
KEWB99 3 years ago
actually now that i think of it your right.
jrizzyrizz 3 years ago
Seriously amazing but there are two problems with it, 1. the pedal may be easier to press but its to noisy, and 2. there is no game worth $300.
tacohero 3 years ago
Why not just get a real electronic drum set? Or is that what this is, but it's just compatible for rock band or something?
RayRevolution 3 years ago
It's a rock band accessory that you can disconnect from your system and use as an actual electric drum set... so, yeah.

u know u can just buy the rockband2 original drum set the 1 with the targets and by the cymbals for 30 bucks for a 3 piece set so much cheaper
mastershakekiller 3 years ago
Hey wat up Im into rock band and I saw just the cymbals at gamestop for 30..Do they work for Rock Band 1 drums?
juzt69 3 years ago
i dont think so they dont have ports like the rockband2 drum set
mastershakekiller 3 years ago
guys these arent the drums that come with the game. these are just a "premium" set u can buy. the real drums look just like the old rock band drums
hhrock456 3 years ago
guitar hero has way more songs then rock band 2 but in guitar hero they have what' have done
ManuGinobili1977 3 years ago
YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
libertie11 3 years ago
dude it looks cool but i think its a waist of money im just gunna use my rb1 kit
BlckGtr 3 years ago
yeah, but also if you get the "Brain" for I think 200 dollars you can plug it into an amp and play it as an electric drum kit. An average electric drum kit is around 1000 dollars so I think 300 dollars isnt bad.
airwelt 3 years ago
you should get GH world tour
YouuTubeeDudee 3 years ago
what r the extra cymbals for?
Boredguy82 3 years ago
ride and crash maybe jesus...
el3m3nt43 3 years ago
The kit can actually be played as a regular electronic drum set when you buy the drum module with it, so not only do the cymbals correlate to a certain color (green yellow depending on if it is the crash or ride cymbal) in the game, but you can assign them to different cymbal sounds with the module.
Got mine on the way with an extra cymbal. only cost me $700...God, I'm a sucker haha
but not really because I am a drummer and can't have an acoustic set in my apt anyways so I wanted one anyways.
WhrsTheMoneyLabowski 3 years ago
hey i know its for rockband but can you play GuitarHero 4 whit the ION drum set???????
titere101 3 years ago
no idea man.
iKr0ok 3 years ago
dunno, but who cares. guitar hero 4 has a drum set thats similar to this anyways
theacademy4 3 years ago
the set can tell if u hit the cymbol or the pad so it will give the sound of a cymbol or the tom dispite the same color, lus the ion set can be turned into a real e-kit but buying an add on they have since the kit is made by a company that makes real e-kits so its perfect for those who want a kit but live in a apartment or cant play there set to practice due to noise complaints so its a practice set and a game set which works with both RB@ and GHWT
Vamprin 3 years ago
when does it come out
Quinnstinger 3 years ago
im excited this drumset looks really cool, even if it is $300
Cornis40 3 years ago
wow lmao instead of buying the system, game and drums you could actually get a REAL drumset prob a half decent at that
