  • this seems more like a indian version of mexican rice..im mexicana and ive never made my rice like this..

i put oil in the pan..heat it on high (u want to brown the rice considerably)..then add onions..sazon seasoning..tomato sauce..and or rotel..then i sometimes add peas..and cilantro..add water..and salt/pepper..all else is the same..the putting beans into it is a puertorican thing not mexican..also you could throw in some jalapenos minced if you want a little heat..thanks!

  • Honestly, this recipe is terrible, it's completly flavourless and dry, I have tried other recipes from you guys and they turned out great, but this one was absolutely disgusting.

  • neat. i usually use whole tomatoes, broth, salt, pepper, cumin, little cayenne or chili powder, and finish with a little lemon juice and cilantro. i typically don't put the veggies with the rice either.

  • The sound is always so terrible in these videos, I feel bad for saying it because they are obviously trying to make it better. The jumps in quality and loud background noises are really messing with me. Try using only one of the sound-tracks instead of mixing it.

  • well thanks for the post of this rice i want to start off by saying with the exception of me not having the right size pot to begin with and it taking me longer to steam the rice at the end it was excellent

  • Just like gramma used to make. :)

  • its nice recipie but is it not mild one as u haven't add any chillies

  • You should soften the veg first, then add the rice.

  • i would add comino (cumin) and fresh tomato instead of tomato sauce.

  • Both of you look so beautiful .....better than kidney beans ..lol ..just kiddin ...thank you for the recipe

  • Spanish rice yum!

  • Hi, I live in India. Please could you tell me, what other varieties of rice, I can substitute to the long grain rice? :)

  • @kunalsharma14 : Look and ask for any long grain rice (not Basmati) - the flavor may not be exact but will taste good.

  • will the rice still taste the same with brown rice instead of white?

  • @kitsune62587 : White rice and brown rice cook and taste different and have different textures. Brown rice have to be cooked longer and will taste different - I like brown rice so, I think it'll taste good....but different!

  • @ShowMeTheCurry Can I use water and salt instead of broth? If not , is there anything else I can use instead of broth?

  • @NourAlSafadi : Yes, you can.

  • Trocaram o lugar nao foi?

  • What do you mean by broth? How do I prepare that? (A total novice in the kitchen. sorry)

  • @amithbn : "Broth" or "stock". It is a process when the vegetables or meat is cooked in water and the flavor of that is transferred from the veg/meat to the water. You can either buy it from grocery stores in liquid form or in bullion or cubes or powder. You can also make it at home - search for it on our YouTube channel or on our website. We have a recipe for Vegetable stock. Hope that helps.

  • @ShowMeTheCurry That helps. Thanks for the reply!

  • Hey! I don't have garlic powder....what can I use instead?

  • @sheetu1996 : Use fresh crushed garlic in the beginning.

  • the way my friend makes it ...it very red...this is not,.

  • This has nothing to do with Spanish rice please take the Spanish out.

  • im drolling

  • excuse me ladies but that rice is Mexican, Spanish inspired,

i am Mexican with Spanish grandparents and this is the first time i see rice with beans, green peppers etc all together.

i am mean its looks good its just not Mexican at all only the red part is.

  • @maryjosedla Who cares! Let them cook. It doesn't matter if they don't identify it exactly as you would.

  • still needs to cook a bit

  • it looks delicious but it doesnt look 1% mexican rice

  • just recently discovered your videos...they rock! I plan on cooking some of them for a party at my house. thanks!

  • yeys. cook good meng.

  • Nice to eyes, tasty to mouth, really salivation(water-mouth) inducing recipe. One can alter the ingredients of this recipe such as peas in lieu of kidneys beans , if one non veg is can add along with peas chicken also. And once cooked try this also take eggs may be 2/ 3 n whip then smoothly , take a spoon of oil heat in pan and fry a tea spoon of fenugreek (METHI) in it and add the egg (one can add turmeric+ground chili, to give nice color to methi eeg) and cook it crumbled! Mix with rice ENJOY!

  • D e l i c i u s

  • I dont think its authentic but its was still tasty.

  • looks good!

  • Mexican food is different from Spanish food, that rice has nothing of our way to cook rice (mexican food). We have Arroz a la Jardinera much much tasty like yours try it someday if you can.

  • DAT didn look like no mexican rice (spanish)..dat look like half a pelau from trinidad....but i hope it's not...cuz I cud cook and dat aint look like nuttin I no!

  • wow! really like this recipe! easy!!! TFS!!! :o)

  • mexican pulao was exactly my thoughts for the entire video :D

  • do not try to eat this, the recipe is shit. I made it for my 3 children, upon eating the dish my youngest daugter began vomitting blood.

  • @dlpollins Sounds like your daughter has a serious condition, better stop being a shit mom.

  • @dlpollins I think your child is ill...I made this many times and it didnt do that to myself or my nieces.

  • @dlpollins Whats the differce between an a scotsmen from arkansas and one from San Fran? One makes about $20k more a year, kinda like a the difference between the frencies from New Orleans and Quebec.

Shut it frenchie, wait..... are you still upset when mexico destroyed your world power status when a bunch of rag tags hispanics ate your lunch and killed every invader of their country a couple centuries ago when napolean tried his hand at becoming a new world power? HAHAHAHHAHAHAHHAA

  • hi u no how u guys will have cooking lessons then a big feast well i really would like to cum but i live in new york city so can u plz upload a video of that day or like the foods u make thnkss

  • wat kind of broth should i use chicken or vegetable

  • @milu606

Chicken broth will work well unless you are a vegetarian :).

  • i am making this today should i wash the rice then let it dry then when it is dry then put it in the pan? and i do not have to use red onions rite?

  • @milu606

If you use the enriched long grain rice, you do not need to wash it. However, if you choose to anyway, rinse the rice and keep it in a colander for about 10-15 minutes so that the water drains out completely before adding it to the pan. You can use any type of onion you like.

  • @ShowMeTheCurry thank u alot and also u guys have so many great videos and so many comments i cant believe you actually replied to mine THANKS :D

    yeah right!! but...

    VERY YUMMIE!!!

  • is this recipe healthy?

  • @Jboy235

It is a good mix of carbs and protein with little fat.

  • if this is HEALTHY? yup, all mexican meals are VERY healthy, right.

yeah right? most of them but all YUMMIE, except the menudo, ouch!

  • I love you ladies! I am a lifelong vegetarian in PA just recently learning how to cook, and I'm really enjoying your selection of recipes as well as your use of fresh veggies!!! Keep up the great work, and thanks!!

  • thanks a lotttttttt :)

  • if I want to add water instead of broth, what type of water do I need to add? cold, boiled?

  • @badasschick4

Regular room temp water will work fine.

  • While your recipe looks interesting it's definitely not mexican or spanish rice. I'm not quite sure what to call it :) If you want mexican rice you need to skip the bell peppers and beans plus use a yellow onion instead of the red (and chop it finer).

    Otherwise looks good.

  • This is totally different in how we fix it, but this is an excellent and tasty version. Thanks for sharing.

  • thank you very much chefs this is the first ever time i have cook some thing nie dish..really pleased of myself lol..finally i have cook better dish than my mom lol thanks

  • I am actually about to make this right now ! :-)

  • @CerebralMadness : Enjoy :)

  • Is the kidney bean in the can is cooked/ uncooked? how can i use the kidney bean in packet in this recipe? do i need to cook before adding it to the rice?

  • @renumangatt : the canned beans are cooked. If you are using the dried one, you will have to soak them and boil them before adding them to the rice :)

  • thank you for your wonderful recipes!!!!!

  • Thank you for the compliment :)

  • i'm mexican, i love the idea to put kidney beans in the rice, we always make it a little different, sometimes we add peas, or slices of potato on top before we cover it, sometimes we blend tomato, fresh garlic and onion in the blender with the stock. when tomatoes are nice in the summer you have to try it fresh as well as fresh garlic. summer rice always tastes better with the fresh tomato!

  • How wonderful and what great ideas! Thanks for sharing :)

  • Great video. Well done!!!

  • Yum, Spanish rice is one of my favorites! Thank you for this easy recipe (who needs the boxed kind anymore!?)

  • Hi, Thanks for this great recipe. But I have a question....I tried this today and some of the rice got cooked properly and some remained uncooked....can you please tell me what can be the reason for that? Other than that, it was good.

  • Here are a few things that may have gone wrong:

    - the rice is from different batches (always use the same batch for 1 dish)

    - hope you did not peek in ;)

Give it another shot and we are sure it'll be okay next time round!

  • I love that you are showing foods from different cultures. I am sure that you eat plenty of Tex-Mex in Texas and it is nice to see you fix things that your families are enjoying. Great video as usual, Susie

  • Looks good! will definitely try. Thanks :)

My advice to you is avoid these threads and keep cooking KD with ketchup . . . .

  • chill out. Im just wondering why they're no longer focussing exclusively on indian recipes

  • @johnmair didn't your mom ever cook anything else besides indian food? don't you ever go out for anything besides indian food?

  • How can one submit a receipe?

  • You can email it to us:

    anuja@showmethecurry(dot)com or
