  • Letinsh you lost me, oh wait you don't know that Octavian and Augustus are the same person and that he just changed his name.

  • @Moviefan137 "Octavian and later Augustus'' as in he was Octavian and took the name Augustus. My English is not that great so i simply wrote it a bit strangely.

  • HBO is talented in making series i guess . This is the second series now that I absolutely love

  • BRING BACK ROME!

  • This series had some of the best damn acting I have seen in a while.

  • The best HBO show EVER!

  • I loved this show. So sad it ended.

  • The show producers admitted that they had prepared material for like 4 seasons. Thats why everything on S2 was so fast.

At least HBO is trying to produce quality shows like Rome and the wire.

  • There should be more series like this one, maybe not about ceasar. I know a good book wich takes place in rome, it's about a private detective.. that would do a good serie.. if just a producer would open his/her eyes..

  • Dear Rome fans, the producers of Rome were fanatical in getting the history correct in the making of this outstanding HBO series. However in their "campaign" for accuracy they produced the "good"..."bad"...and the down right "raunchy." Althought true to form and entertaining...hehehe...with thay and heavy prophanity, you put a cap on how many veiwers you will have. Know this I will mourn the loss of a truly great show.

  • Looks like Antony had a revelation, eh?

  • it is hard to believe how nasty and brutal our western civilization ancestors were; Christianity has ameliorated much of that, but, of course, it cannot entirely alter human nature.

  • @roaringwaterbay yap, and in asia or africa or america the people loved eachothers and spent life dancing in flowers field and making love.... u idiot, shut up.

  • @roaringwaterbay christianity presided over some of the worst excesses in recorded history, as an example look at the inquisition, which wasn't just spanish. For all its brutality, Rome brought law, order and civilisation to the people it conquered and the protection of the legions against barbarians

  • rome is better than spartacus I think romestreamsonline-dot-info

  • Christ, desperate housewives runs for six seasons but poor Rome couldn't even get a full second season.

This show was art, people will still be watching it decades from now.

  • @Stantzs it did a get a full second season. the producers decided not to do a third because of the ratings. If they had we would have seen how Octavian became Augustus and turned Rome from a republic into an empire.

  • @Stantzs Full second season what did you want them to do make shit up??? It was partialy based on true events other than story lines of Pullo and Vorenus.

  • Why didn't they continue the series with a season 3?

  • This was one of the finest miniseries ever produced and it's sad that there wasn't another season. The reason is that the ratings were not enough to sustain it, and that's sad. Instead, people like to rot their simple minds watching inane, pointless drivel like American Idol and Survivor. LOL But I'm not bitter,

  • LOW RATINGS! How is that, I thought it did well!

  • I know, it shocked me, too. Google "Rome cancelled" and you'll get a bunch of links explaining it. Hence my rant in my previous comment--it seems the average TV viewer is more into flotsam and other intellectually meaningless crap. I could've gone on and on watching this and was extremely disappointed when it didn't go past two seasons, and if you know the history being acted out, you know they were rushing to pack in as much as they could before the end of season two. Very sad. :-(

  • @kmtsesh I know, it's infuriating, isn't it. :( Well, I'm glad they got to finish at least one great show without it getting canceled (the reimagined Battlestar Galactica).

  • @kmtsesh Actually, Rome got really high ratings. The production costs were too high.

  • @kmtsesh That's not exactly true. I'm sure the ratings could have been better, but the main reason that they cut the show was the cost. Apparently it was enormously expensive to produce every episode. The stuff that makes the show great (the sets, outfits, sheer number of extras, etc.) must, if you think about it, cost a ridiculous amount of money. Still, if I hit the lottery, I would personally finance the production of several more seasons.

  • @jpl7777 I didn't know that. I guess I came across some bad "gossip." I'm not at all surprised it cost that much to shoot. I saw the "making of" special in one of the DVDs and I think I remember their saying that it was the largest set production ever created. I'm with you, though. If only. LOL I guess this means I first need to buy a lottery ticket before I can win the lottery!

  • @kmtsesh im not bitter, im mad as hell.

  • @TheIcelandicPatriot I recently bought both seasons on DVD, so that much makes me happy. Pity that it was only two seasons, but at least now I can watch any of the episodes anytime I wish. Meanwhile, dimwitted and pointless crap like American Idol and Survivor churn on and on, season after season, filling our TV screens with profound stupidity. LOL Maybe I AM bitter!

  • @kmtsesh Don't worry, I'm bitter about it too. I mean, both Buffy and Angel sucked at the end of their run, but it's still better than the crap that's on tv now. Just remember, reality ain't on tv. Although, I have to admit, I like the first season better than the second, although I love Cicero's speech to Antony when he attacks Antony's character.

  • @kmtsesh Couldnt agree more. Then again season 3 would be challenging to make because after Octavian and later Augustus came to power Rome lived in peace and no major wars were waged...They are planning to make a movie though which takes place right after season 2.

  • @Letinsh19 there is caligula, nero, tiberus, and the rest of the long list of wackos in Roman History..

  • @supermodelbrawl Yeah but then you have to ditch characters like Pullo, Poska and many others from the original first 2 seasons. It could work or it would be a disaster...still - i hope they make new seasons. ''13 never fails eh?''

  • they broke the budget. recreating ancient rome proved to be expensive.

  • I blame the economy

  • I loved the portrayal of the aftermath of Actium. Concentrating less on the battle and more on the character of Antony.

  • @wingzero890

Well, depicting the battle would be too expensive to produce anyway.

  • Probably right, I heard they had budget problems near the end.
