Speaking from personal experience, if you ever see a chick walking around at a concert barefoot, I can guarantee she won't look anything like Kate Hudson.
Kate hudson, such a perfect chip off the old block, as irresistable as her mother, as beautiful, as engaging. One must wonder, how impossibly wonserful she truly must be to be around in real life. I would bet amazing. How I feel in love with her, this charator, not from this movie, but from my life, her beauty captivated me, her smile took my breath, her eyes met mine and we spoke so often without saying any words, us, we entirely in tune. Until her demons took her away, in a flash, idied2
Kate Hudson was never as good as when she was with Penny Lane around. This and the airport scene stand as the heights of her ability. She has no words in either. She's all character, all personality. Each scene brings my emotions to its knees. Damn fine. Shame she sold out for the quick/easy buck/role. She was a gem.
best scene in the whole movie and nobody could of done penny lane better than kate hudson. the words to this song match perfectly for the character penny lane
What Philip Semour Hofman said at the start is so true for all music , what we have now in these times is the end result ! Bland music to make money , and not to move your soul in anyway ......just sell out !
This has been my all time favorite movie since I saw it in 2000. And this is one of my favorite scenes. The visuals in this movie make the soundtrack even better!
This is a beautiful movie about how the world of music (more specifically, rock and roll) can completely change somebody's life. It's even more amazing that Cameron Crowe actually experienced most of this (yes, Penny Lane is a real person, but she goes by Pennie Lane) and it's just a beautiful movie simply about the love of music, and the amazing people you can meet through it.
No, the characters of Russell and the rest of Stillwater are based on the different people he met in the 70s. Though I'm sure some portions of Penny Lane's character have beent tweaked for theatrical effect, she is, in fct, a real person. Go to the website. They even have the section where she got the call from Cameron Crowe.
Penny lane was actually a real person and that was her actual "groupie" name. She started the whole band aid thing wanting to help musicians etc. doing it for a year before college and then leaving the whole scene. But Crowe also added some inspiration from bebe buell as well. But in essense she is a real person
I'm seriously in love with that character! She seems so mysterious and all I wanna do while watching her in this movie is to get to know more about her
Oh, it was really good movie. Patrick Fugit showed great acting. I never found Kate Hudson serious actress, (especially after all those stupid romantic comedies) but I changed my mind after watching this film. She deserves much more serious roles. Kate was amazing here. Billy Crudup, Frances McDormand, Jason Lee, Anna Paquin, Fairuza Balk and Zooey Deschanel were no less impressive.
It's really strange, but I LOVE Kate Hudson in this movie, and I pretty much can't stand her in any other. It's npt her, though, it's her character. I know a girl like her--it's impossible not to fall in love with her perfect mix of fragility and independence. And you know she's captivating because I'm a girl saying this, and I'm straight.
i should be ashamed to ask this, but what is the name of this song?
i know what ur thinking, how can u not know the name? well see i luv the movie, when i first saw it i was 9 and thats how i came to loving good music and i never found out the names of some of the songs, just recently i found out America was by Simon and Garfunle but then again, thats like the only S&G song i like...
This is a great scene and should have been included in the final cut of the movie...it's beautiful and tragic...truly poetic...Kate Hudson (Penny Lane) was the highlight of the film and I completely empathize with William in the film... she plays a great femme fatale and I've loved her ever since

I take back what i said. I saw Marcia Gay Harden's preformance, and it was amazing. Marcia did in fact deserve to win, besides Kate can't act for her life!
"Almost Famous" alongside with "The Blues Brothers" "Forrest Gump" and "La haine" is in my top five movies...a stunning Kate Hudson and an amazing Patrick Fugit...agree with you BillyL96..Kate should have won the Oscar.Hands down.
Kate Hudson should have won the Oscar! I am so mad she didn't! Kate totally deserved it! I can't believe they gave it to Marica Gay(ass) Harden?! I love you Kate, i hope you do some day win!!
It's rare that a director will take time out of a movie to include scenes with as much grace and power, but it's clear that scenes like this can completely make a movie. Penny's dance is like her own personal elegy for rock and roll and the life she was living. Kate Hudson plays this scene to absolute perfection.
This is not the kind of scene that most people would ever think to put into a movie because it doesn't advance the plot one iota, etc. but it's amazing and it makes every other scene in the movie better because of the way it shows who Penny Lane is.
This movie was brilliant. I am a heavy metal journalist and when I saw this movie at 15, I knew that this was going to be my life. I cry every time during the last half hour or so of this movie. A classic.
And yes, Kate Hudson is molta bella. I got a crush on her.
