  • Speaking from personal experience, if you ever see a chick walking around at a concert barefoot, I can guarantee she won't look anything like Kate Hudson.

  • I'm in love with Penny Lane

  • Fuckin loooooove this film!

  • Kate hudson, such a perfect chip off the old block, as irresistable as her mother, as beautiful, as engaging. One must wonder, how impossibly wonserful she truly must be to be around in real life. I would bet amazing. How I feel in love with her, this charator, not from this movie, but from my life, her beauty captivated me, her smile took my breath, her eyes met mine and we spoke so often without saying any words, us, we entirely in tune. Until her demons took her away, in a flash, idied2

  • I LOVE THIS <3 Beautiful <3

  • I am so glad it was decided that Kate Hudson would be a better Penny Lane than Kirsten Dunst.

  • @missbecks89 but Kirsten is still a better actor. although Kate isnt bad, she's underrated too

  • I dont know why, she doesn't do all that much, but this scene is beyond words for me. Love it.

  • this makes me so happy. thank you to whoever posted it. 20,000,000 points to you.

  • my hero and my alias. thank god for this movie, the beatles, and the intersection of abbey road :)

  • To be honest, there really wasnt much dancing.

  • kate hudson + cat stevens = nirvana

  • beautiful

  • Only the beautiful young captures the heart of all with a graceful move. all the rest die alone on their dance floor unnoticed.

  • @manicmode Sir, you "get it". not many people do. preeeeeeeeeeesh. :)

  • @PennyFNLane get what? liking this movie? OK.

  • Beautiful scene. Thank you Cameron Crowe for this masterpiece!

  • @cpa54 oh yes. many thanks :)

  • She should have won the Oscar.

  • Cameron's favorite scene

  • Stunning scene!!! It captures the soul of the movie.

  • cat stevens - the wind is the song

  • What's that song???

  • Kate Hudson was never as good as when she was with Penny Lane around. This and the airport scene stand as the heights of her ability. She has no words in either. She's all character, all personality. Each scene brings my emotions to its knees. Damn fine. Shame she sold out for the quick/easy buck/role. She was a gem.

  • best scene in the whole movie and nobody could of done penny lane better than kate hudson. the words to this song match perfectly for the character penny lane

  • Good lord, Philip Seymour Hoffman, even when we just have his voice, killed it in this movie.

  • Apparently Cameron Crowe's favorite scene...

  • I know what Penny feels on that scene. I've been there, done that. And smiled like that.

  • The wind

  • most beautiful song in the world.

  • my favorite film, absolutely beautiful!

  • Does anyone know the name of the song playing in the background when Penny overdoses? Have looked on line but can't find it. Thanks in advance...

  • @MARTYCLFC My Cherie Amour by Stevie Wonder if I remember right

  • @FarrelNZ It was, thanks!!

  • i love this movie more than a person can love a thing.

  • the wind by cat stevens

  • i know this is cat stevens singing but whats the name of the sing???? i love this movie so much!!!!!!

  • @tattooedangel88 song****

  • I don't think it is possible to hear this song enough times.

  • @judithhr i hear ya

  • Quien no ha jugado a dar vueltas y vueltas... luego de que la fiesta ha terminado, ciertamente se está perdiendo de una experiencia increíble :)

  • one of my favorit parts of the movie <3

  • One of my favorite scenes in this movie. Love it!

  • What Philip Semour Hofman said at the start is so true for all music , what we have now in these times is the end result ! Bland music to make money , and not to move your soul in anyway ......just sell out !

  • tThis dance makes Penny Lane seem innocent

  • She i so beautifull. I hope it isnt true that she got breastimplants, she was perfekt from the start.

  • Penny Lane is legendary

  • beautiful! I used to want to be "Penny Lane"

  • Great movie, especially the bootleg cut,it has so many awesome scenes that unfortunately were cut.One of my fav scenes

  • One of the best outfits ever!!!

  • :^)

  • shes so beautiful and graceful

  • She never wears a bra throughout the whole movie.

  • Such a classic song! One of Cat Stevens best songs.

  • don't know if someone already posted this but it's "the dancer" not the "the wanderer"

  • Kate Hudson = the bomb diggity.

  • This is so beautiful and freeing. "I let my music take me where my heart wants to go."

  • so is this scene ONLY shown in the directors cut extended edition.

  • This has been my all time favorite movie since I saw it in 2000. And this is one of my favorite scenes. The visuals in this movie make the soundtrack even better!

  • This is a beautiful movie about how the world of music (more specifically, rock and roll) can completely change somebody's life. It's even more amazing that Cameron Crowe actually experienced most of this (yes, Penny Lane is a real person, but she goes by Pennie Lane) and it's just a beautiful movie simply about the love of music, and the amazing people you can meet through it.

  • Penny Lane is not a real person. If you listen to the interviews with Cameron Crowe he explains that this character is a combination of people.

Nice idea though and well played by the actor

  • No, the characters of Russell and the rest of Stillwater are based on the different people he met in the 70s. Though I'm sure some portions of Penny Lane's character have beent tweaked for theatrical effect, she is, in fct, a real person. Go to the website. They even have the section where she got the call from Cameron Crowe.

  • Penny lane was actually a real person and that was her actual "groupie" name. She started the whole band aid thing wanting to help musicians etc. doing it for a year before college and then leaving the whole scene. But Crowe also added some inspiration from bebe buell as well. But in essense she is a real person

  • @Cowgirlandboys

She has a web site. The originals girls and guy can be found here on youtube. All real people, although the characters have been blended a bit.

  • so whelming.

  • such a great, simple and memorable scene. beautiful, beautiful, beautiful and its just a girl, alone holding a rose dancing in an empty gym.

  • I'm seriously in love with that character! She seems so mysterious and all I wanna do while watching her in this movie is to get to know more about her

  • Oh, it was really good movie. Patrick Fugit showed great acting. I never found Kate Hudson serious actress, (especially after all those stupid romantic comedies) but I changed my mind after watching this film. She deserves much more serious roles. Kate was amazing here. Billy Crudup, Frances McDormand, Jason Lee, Anna Paquin, Fairuza Balk and Zooey Deschanel were no less impressive.

  • @sweetprism00..well said i feel exactly the same way!

  • It's really strange, but I LOVE Kate Hudson in this movie, and I pretty much can't stand her in any other. It's npt her, though, it's her character. I know a girl like her--it's impossible not to fall in love with her perfect mix of fragility and independence. And you know she's captivating because I'm a girl saying this, and I'm straight.

  • It's like you read my mind.

  • what is this song called

  • Cat Stevens "The Wind"

  • Faboulous sequence..

  • cat steavenz wat a singer

  • Thanks for sharing. I was looking for this.

  • i wish i could get away with not wearing a bra. ):

  • cat stevens is the most perfect song for that moment

  • i love this scene!! i liked the original better thou

  • Love this scene. Love her fluidity and free-spirit.

  • oh i love cat stevens!

  • Kate Hudson looks so young and fresh here. Beautiful woman

  • i love kates outfit here

  • i loved this hippie simple type of 70s music. It really is comforting. kinda reminds me of ''wonder yrs''

  • This is my favorite scene! I also love when he runs along with her plane in the airport and she puts her hand on the window. Makes me cry...

  • Thank you for posting. 5*****

  • Cat, I <3 you, even if your name is Youssef now.

  • she is wicked hot here

  • i love cat stevens and almost famous

  • this is definitely one of the best scenes of the movie, i agree..it gives me goosebumps.

i reckon this was the best role kate hudson has ever played..she killed it in every way. what a great penny lane..

  • @Areeba07 perfect logic

  • epic

  • i should be ashamed to ask this, but what is the name of this song?

i know what ur thinking, how can u not know the name? well see i luv the movie, when i first saw it i was 9 and thats how i came to loving good music and i never found out the names of some of the songs, just recently i found out America was by Simon and Garfunle but then again, thats like the only S&G song i like...

    great movie!

  • Great Song...

    Cat Stevens: The Wind

  • Such a beautiful scene. I love the Hollywood Palladium!

  • "The war is over they won... They will ruin rock and roll and strangle everything we love about it......"

    EXACTLY

  • just beautiful

Kate's acting...and Cat's song (in fact the whole soundtrack is great)

  • This is my favorite scene of my favorite movie ever. It is just the most beautiful song and it's too amazing to even describe <3

  • one of the best movies ever

    =)

  • oh fa sho

  • i love this movie xxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • Cat Stevens being played in the back while she dances is beautiful.

  • This is a great scene and should have been included in the final cut of the movie...it's beautiful and tragic...truly poetic...Kate Hudson (Penny Lane) was the highlight of the film and I completely empathize with William in the film... she plays a great femme fatale and I've loved her ever since

  • thats beautiful

  • shut up you wench

  • "Almost Famous" alongside with "The Blues Brothers" "Forrest Gump" and "La haine" is in my top five movies...a stunning Kate Hudson and an amazing Patrick Fugit...agree with you BillyL96..Kate should have won the Oscar.Hands down.

  • Kate Hudson should have won the Oscar! I am so mad she didn't! Kate totally deserved it! I can't believe they gave it to Marica Gay(ass) Harden?! I love you Kate, i hope you do some day win!!

  • Ahhhh Usef Islam a classic.

  • This scene is so perfect & beautiful at the same time.

  • In the commentary, Cameron says his biggest regret for the movie is that he didn't make this scene longer.

  • Epic

  • ... none of it could be more beautiful really...

  • this movie is seriously the greatest ever!... i just saw it for like the 100th time:P <3

  • this scene gave me goosebumps when I first saw it, beautiful.

  • one of my favorite songs in the movie. kate plays penny lane in such a magical way. :)

  • I DIG MUSIC

    IM ON DRUGS

  • is this a cat stevens song [sounds like it]

  • Yes it's Cat Stevens-The Wind

  • Yes it's Cat Stevens- The Wind

  • It's rare that a director will take time out of a movie to include scenes with as much grace and power, but it's clear that scenes like this can completely make a movie. Penny's dance is like her own personal elegy for rock and roll and the life she was living. Kate Hudson plays this scene to absolute perfection.

  • this is the only movie that i liked kate hudson in.

  • shes hot

  • If that's all you take away from this movie, something is wrong. Her character is amazing.

  • Never liked Kate Hudson much.

But she's fragile lost angel in Almost Famous

  • These days he goes by the name "Yusuf Islam". But no matter what, he is still Cat Stevens!

  • Such a peaceful, relaxing & beautiful scene.

  • This is not the kind of scene that most people would ever think to put into a movie because it doesn't advance the plot one iota, etc. but it's amazing and it makes every other scene in the movie better because of the way it shows who Penny Lane is.

  • One of the "Best" scenes from a Great Movie!

  • This movie was brilliant. I am a heavy metal journalist and when I saw this movie at 15, I knew that this was going to be my life. I cry every time during the last half hour or so of this movie. A classic.

And yes, Kate Hudson is molta bella. I got a crush on her.

  • I wholeheartedly agree, Kate Hudson is beautiful and amazing =)))

  • i want to have that moment

  • kate hudson's best moment :-)

  • The song is titled "The Wind" and it is sung by Cat Stevens

  • whats the name of this song?

  • is the song by cat stevens ?

  • this scene always makes me cry. and i can't decide why, exactly...

  • Aw this scene and movie always takes my breath away =)!

  • Please make that TAKE my breath away =)!

    Thank you =)!

  • It's soo simplisticly beautiful. Man I love this movie. It has such a personal meaning to me...

  • Almost Famous... what a great film. I love the music, love the acting and I love the story as a whole.

Kate Hudson played a brilliant part.

  • this scene is so beautiful

  • "I let my music take me where my heart wants to go." amen.

  • Cool, I hadn't seen the full version of this scene. I love this movie =)

  • That's my favorite scene in the movie, and I think Crowe's to. It says so much without a word of dialogue.

  • There is a Rushmore scene with this song too. And it is a brilliant scene. I know I am pimping it but check out my page because I uploaded it :p

THIS IS SUCH A BEAUTIFUL SCENE!

  • I love this scene.

Not only a beautiful song, but it just really shows Penny in a beautiful way..
