@imtrainman49 Are you still working on this gang? I know some former Conrail track workers who went from a tie gang (TS-31 I believe) to a rail gang, don't know the number. Please get back to me if you can, I'd like to try and get in touch with some of these guys if they haven't all retired! Thank you, and be safe out there!
you can mostly tell what a machine is by the first 2 letters on the side. ie: the GS means gage spiker then the first 2 numbers are the year is was built and the rest is the actual i guess i.d. no. can't think of a better way to explain.
I guess they are expansion joints to allow the track to move instead of bow? Never thought much about it, just remember how hot the tracks are on a warm summer day!
Thanks! It's always a joy to watch, so when I hear that the gang is out again I'll be sure to stop by, in fact I heard on my scanner a few days ago that there was some welding going on.
My grandfather, his brother and father all worked all their lives for Southern! That looks like old track in the video, bolted together instead of ribbon which is welded? Good video, glad to see it!
Nice! I must of missed this video. You really have to give it to the MOW guys, they keep everything in check. Gret job with the pictures and capturing everything, deffinately favorited.

I'm not familiar with MoW equipment names so I go by what I see. :)
Hey, thanks a lot for the hard work you put into the railroad. A job well done that day. (They) still have not picked up the old rail though.

I love those spike drillers. I might purchase one and build a full-scale 'model' railroad in my back yard! :)
