Dont confuse the Mondial t with the earlier Mondial versions. The t was 300HP, semi tube chassis, equipped with cockpit adjustable suspension, dry sump engine etc. It was rare and expensive in the US ($100,000+). While the early Mondials were somewhat lazy the 3.4 lier here gave better than NSX performance when driven by Road & Track magazine back in the day (0-60 in 5 sec.1/4 mile in 14.2). Nice versions of the t sell for much more than the pedestrian Mondials. Great video.

The Mondial wasn't as bad as some people (almost all of whom have never driven one) will tell you. Not a Ferrari great, but still a Ferrari in every sense, and a challenging and rewarding drive. Definitely not an NSX, no, but that can be a virtue as well as a vice. It all depends on your point of view.

As a period piece it is a fine car to own, and very affordable (for a Ferrari) because of the critics.

Actually, she would seeing as she's a real driver as opposed to a comic. That's what Top Gear is these days, and that's shit to anyone who actual wants to know about the cars they babble about.

Its amazing how far Ferrari has come since this car. This was not one of Ferrari's best efforts in terms of interior quality and thoughtfulness of the design. It did not drive very well either compared to some thing like the NSX. A car when the Ferrari was more about the badge rather than ability as it is now.

The new Top Gear format is certainly more fun to watch and entertaining. They have 3 presenters who have personalities and you feel like you get to know them.

But what I like better about the old Top Gear is the filming. As I was watching this, I felt like I was standing next to that car. In the new Top Gear, I think the cinematography is too polished and overdone.

Agreed, it is also shame that the new show contains almost 0% factual information - the old show managed to inform at the same time as being entertaining, the new show seems to try too hard to be entertaining at the expense of facts - even sometimes purposefully being factually incorrect for entertainment value.

I accept this is because the show is now not a car show, but a Sunday evening entertainment show, but is is a shame nonetheless.

The Mondial t is a great car and underated. It was even more advanced that the 348, it had electronic dampers and std PAS and othe stuff that was still seen on the 355. I've never seen that colour of leather in one of those before - I'd like to know if that car, with the auto clutch, is for sale.

thats not to say there aren't underrated ferraris, the testarossa, 348, 308, 328 all fit that bill.

wow, even the doors on my 22yo Acura Legend dont clunk as bad as the gear change on that car. to me it looks like a budget Testarossa, it is a nice looking car, and, as far as Ferrari goes, seems to be pretty good value for money!
