  • My family owns a Chevy suburban and its a great SUV but it does hurt at the Pump!

  • @Brisk2124 like every non diesel suv :P

  • I don't know why the lights are turned on

  • The Suburban has it all over the tahoe but still a great review.

  • Great, but this colour sucks balls. Chevy should be black.

  • Rumor has it that Tahoe/Suburban Could be gone or made into a small SUV it is still uncertain of its fate but expect 2013 to be a little refreshed.

  • I completely agree with the 'more steering feel' comment in the review. I don't like driving my mom's Tahoe or my dad's Escalade for this reason, it feels awkward to me.

  • @MondoBongoz The design of the z71 makes the truck stand out

  • The z71 tahoe is better

  • I hope that GM doesn't switch to a crossover design for the Chevy Tahoe/Suburban. It is a nice old body on frame SUV that can do 200,000 miles if well taken care of and is solidly built too. I hope it stays that way.

  • @DualofChaos I agree man. If GM makes the Suburban or Tahoe like a crossover I would be very upset. I lease the Tahoe for 24 Months. I love it! I currently have a 2011 LTZ which is very pleasant to operate. I would like to lease the 2013 Suburban LTZ next.

  • @volkswagenaustin03 My mom owns a 2008 Trailblazer. It may be old fashioned, but I prefer it over crossover SUVS anyday. Some unibody SUVs like the new Jeep Grand Cherokee are good though.

  • @volkswagenaustin03 Escalade is the only one of the 3 downsizing in 2014. I don't think Suburban/Tahoe are going anywhere any time soon.

  • @CarCurious How do you know that only the Escalade is downsizing?

  • @volkswagenaustin03 Rumor has it (not sure if GM has confirmed it or not) that the 2014 Escalade will join the Traverse, Acadia, and Enclave on the Lambda platform. Tahoe/Suburban have a confirmed revamp in 2014, and it only makes sense that they stay where they are because Chevy and GMC already have cars on the Lamba platform.

  • @volkswagenaustin03 Cause he read my comment..

  • It looks like something from the early 90s :o( Interior not as bad as I imagined :o)

  • These are my favorite car reviews. Where are they filmed? It looks like Michigan.

  • I'll rather have and get so much more quality, value, and up to date perks in a 2012 Ford Expedition King Ranch with every option checked off for less than $59K.

  • UGLY STEERING WHEEL!

  • meh the tahoe is an awesome vehicle, but that 5.3 is aweful. they need a much newer engine, or a diesel. preferably a diesel.

  • 21mpg my ass.

  • why would anyone buy this over the land cruiser?

  • @cardude1992 land cruisers start at like $68k, even a lr4 is cheaper than that, and thats the beast of big offroaders

  • @jimmyhoffa9 as an over all offroad capable suv, nothing beats the land cruiser. its reliablility is unsurpassed and great offroad and very comfy on road and great engines including the diesels.

  • @jimmyhoffa9 as an over all offroad capable suv, nothing beats the land cruiser. its reliablility is unsurpassed and great offroad and very comfy on road and great engines including the diesels. it will still be good as new after 10 years.

  • @cardude1992 meh, land cruisers aren't for me :P land rover is of course the way forward.

  • @cardude1992 Price.

  • @stevehammes Hey Steve, Great review as always. How is it off road? And any chance of anyone doing a Suburban review at Roadfly?

  • @cardude1992 Comfort

  • @cardude1992 Because every car japan has ever made falls apart, not to mention the american SUVs look better, sound better and have more power.

  • @cardude1992 Land cruiser is a disgusting vehicle.

  • Great review. Do they have a diesel version?

  • @ivarsrini they dont, but they should of atleast 10 years ago. and if they did, it would be a sell out. diesel is a good idea to its unlikely chevy will consider it for another few years

  • @ivarsrini No.

  • I have leased these since 2007. I have had a LT from 2007 to 2009 and a LTZ from 2009 2011. Now I have a GMC Yukon XL Denali until 2014.

  • Great Car....

  • the power ratings are soo depressing for a 5.3.

  • @DevPack aye, that engine is aweful. a 5.3 diesel could probably produce more hp if it really tried.

  • 3:42 Hahaha True

  • Gosh that plastic fake wood is horrible!

  • Great Review, as an owner of five different Tahoes, the most recent of which is a 2010 version, thanks for an honest review.

  • I Want the Z71 tahoe

  • Hahaha ill take an expedition and I don't even like ford

  • 60grand for a truck with that interior. No thanks!

  • wow that car looks like it belongs to at least 5 years ago and it's being sold as a 2012 model for nearly 60 grands? for a chevy?

  • I expect GM to redesign this car in the same way that Nissan did to the Pathfinder.

  • @Waffleater1 Did you see the new Pathfinder from Detroit? Wow, is that bad!

  • @stevehammes Did you see it in person?

  • @EMdemo Yes. It's a concept but it's not looking good.

  • @stevehammes

I'm with you and Waffleeater1; Nissan made the Pathfinder a large crossover. Plenty of Nissan Pathfinder enthusists will be greatly dissapointed. I doubt the Tahoe or Suburban will go to this route. I'll take a Tahoe to tow a boat and to bring a lot of passengers.

  • Is that the same engine that the Impala SS had?

  • Unless I have a bass-fishing boat or a pair of ATVs, I got no use for SUVs of any maker.

  • So I take it GM isn't discontinuing the Tahoe?

  • Plenty of room in the 3rd row? You are eating your knees! Try an Expedition with the independent rear and proper floor height and you see what plenty of 3rd row room is supposed to feel like. Would love to see the new 5.0L in a freshened Expedition and for the Tahoe to get a major update. Wish I could mix the best of all the makes and come up with the perfect large SUV.

  • @modmatt1 I agree with you that the seat sits low due to this arrangement and that's not great for sure, but most of these third rows I wouldn't want to spend even a second in and I felt like in the Tahoe I could at least make it on a short trip...and the kids had no issues. The Expedition does do a nice job with the 3rd row legroom but gives up a significant amount of cargo room behind the second row with the 3rd row removed.

  • @stevehammes Thanks for responding and mean no disrespect - appreciate the well done review. The current Expedition's 3rd row doesn't need to be removed as it folds flat forward into the floor, but does concede a few cu ft when compared to the tahoe since you take it with you 55 vs. 60.3 cu ft behind 2nd row. Not that significant IMO for much added convenience and the split seats need to be removed in the Tahoe for that max space, not just folded. Direct comparison video review please?

  • Needs A LOT more horsepower..

  • If Ford added Ecoboost to the Expedition, they could change some of those sales numbers. Hopefully Ford will and Chevy will do something as well to up their sales. I hate to see the big SUV trend dying.

  • $59K on a Chevy?! Lol That money can be spent on much better choices.

  • @2Kriss2Kross A fully loaded chevy with loads of options and safety features.. Plus it has proved it's reliability through it's cycle.

  • Comment removed

  • People don't realize that there is a hybrid model that gets 23 mpg highway. Both V-8 (5.3L and 6.2L) that has the cylander shutoff.

  • If I had a family and I towed a lot, this would be the vehicle for me. Except I would get a Suburban with the LTZ package. Not the Tahoe.

  • Comment removed

  • Too dang much $ for a cheap plastic-y interior. They could do so much better.

  • another GM peice of shit that overpriced, much like the yukon and escalade, i would rather get a mercedes gl or infiniti qx

  • wow...59k...that's a lot for a Tahoe

  • I LOVE These trucks!!!!!! Great review Steve!

  • Nice, this is my dream suv

  • @bmwmsport11 this with the Z71 package is mine

  • Gm needs to finally drop the pushrod engines in their trucks. The 5.0 in the F150 makes more power than all four 6.0's GM had.

  • These are so incredibly outdated! Just like all GM trucks. Thier cars and small SUV's tho are excellent

  • I used to own a 4X4 pickup. There is nothing in the world like driving a large truck/SUV. I would like to see a fresh look for the Tahoe myself. I do believe it will be within the next couple of years.

  • @mikerules666 End of 2013 there is a redesign coming

  • @macktenful That;s what I thought. I saw it on either Car and Driver or Motor trend's website. Hopefully, it goes the way others are going. That is towards more of a European type look.

  • @mikerules666 the redesigned silverado is gonna be nice

  • And to think people still need suburbans with this beast still lurking around lol...

  • Wow almost 60K? Personally at that point, I'd spend a bit extra and get a Lincoln Navigator instead.

  • @stevehammes do I think there will be a redesign pretty soon?

  • @TheAlexv6 It's in the works for first half of 2013 as a 2014 model.

  • @stevehammes I really like this design, hope they don't change it too much

  • @stevehammes i heard they're putting it on a version of the platform underpinning the Acadia, Traverse, and Enclave.

  • Nice, but VERY outdated. Needs a refresh ASAP.
