I completely agree with the 'more steering feel' comment in the review. I don't like driving my mom's Tahoe or my dad's Escalade for this reason, it feels awkward to me.
I hope that GM doesn't switch to a crossover design for the Chevy Tahoe/Suburban. It is a nice old body on frame SUV that can do 200,000 miles if well taken care of and is solidly built too. I hope it stays that way.
@DualofChaos I agree man. If GM makes the Suburban or Tahoe like a crossover I would be very upset. I lease the Tahoe for 24 Months. I love it! I currently have a 2011 LTZ which is very pleasant to operate. I would like to lease the 2013 Suburban LTZ next.
@volkswagenaustin03 My mom owns a 2008 Trailblazer. It may be old fashioned, but I prefer it over crossover SUVS anyday. Some unibody SUVs like the new Jeep Grand Cherokee are good though.
@volkswagenaustin03 Rumor has it (not sure if GM has confirmed it or not) that the 2014 Escalade will join the Traverse, Acadia, and Enclave on the Lambda platform. Tahoe/Suburban have a confirmed revamp in 2014, and it only makes sense that they stay where they are because Chevy and GMC already have cars on the Lamba platform.
I'll rather have and get so much more quality, value, and up to date perks in a 2012 Ford Expedition King Ranch with every option checked off for less than $59K.
@jimmyhoffa9 as an over all offroad capable suv, nothing beats the land cruiser. its reliablility is unsurpassed and great offroad and very comfy on road and great engines including the diesels.
@jimmyhoffa9 as an over all offroad capable suv, nothing beats the land cruiser. its reliablility is unsurpassed and great offroad and very comfy on road and great engines including the diesels. it will still be good as new after 10 years.
@ivarsrini they dont, but they should of atleast 10 years ago. and if they did, it would be a sell out. diesel is a good idea to its unlikely chevy will consider it for another few years
I'm with you and Waffleeater1; Nissan made the Pathfinder a large crossover. Plenty of Nissan Pathfinder enthusists will be greatly dissapointed. I doubt the Tahoe or Suburban will go to this route. I'll take a Tahoe to tow a boat and to bring a lot of passengers.
Plenty of room in the 3rd row? You are eating your knees! Try an Expedition with the independent rear and proper floor height and you see what plenty of 3rd row room is supposed to feel like. Would love to see the new 5.0L in a freshened Expedition and for the Tahoe to get a major update. Wish I could mix the best of all the makes and come up with the perfect large SUV.
@modmatt1 I agree with you that the seat sits low due to this arrangement and that's not great for sure, but most of these third rows I wouldn't want to spend even a second in and I felt like in the Tahoe I could at least make it on a short trip...and the kids had no issues. The Expedition does do a nice job with the 3rd row legroom but gives up a significant amount of cargo room behind the second row with the 3rd row removed.
@stevehammes Thanks for responding and mean no disrespect - appreciate the well done review. The current Expedition's 3rd row doesn't need to be removed as it folds flat forward into the floor, but does concede a few cu ft when compared to the tahoe since you take it with you 55 vs. 60.3 cu ft behind 2nd row. Not that significant IMO for much added convenience and the split seats need to be removed in the Tahoe for that max space, not just folded. Direct comparison video review please?
If Ford added Ecoboost to the Expedition, they could change some of those sales numbers. Hopefully Ford will and Chevy will do something as well to up their sales. I hate to see the big SUV trend dying.
I used to own a 4X4 pickup. There is nothing in the world like driving a large truck/SUV. I would like to see a fresh look for the Tahoe myself. I do believe it will be within the next couple of years.
@macktenful That;s what I thought. I saw it on either Car and Driver or Motor trend's website. Hopefully, it goes the way others are going. That is towards more of a European type look.
My family owns a Chevy suburban and its a great SUV but it does hurt at the Pump!
