the sway bar keeps the wheels stable. it's helpful for hard turns on highway, but it restricts the ability of the wheels independently moving up and down, so he needed to take them off for this bumpy terrain
i got a 98 jeep cherokee sport and that thing rips. it isnt stock but it isnt built either. its got a 2 inch BDS lift with 31 inch uniroyals. that thing will go anywhere with the right driver. "its a jeep thing"
hahhaa. i got my 92 cherokee from my grandpop whose had it since its beginning, last year for my 18th bday. he gave me a sheet with it that he typed up... one of the "rules" was it will take you anywhere, just might not take you back. haha. i love this thing.

We did have a problem with it overheating this time, but it had never done it before. Basically we just got in on the interstate, went to get lunch, and it was fine after that.
Do you know what may fix the problem with your jeep?

usually when i go wheelin i pop the hood and let it ride against the safety latch, that usually gets a little more hot air out quicker

Running an electric fan will do the trick...google search it.
You should have showed that Blazer at the beginning trying to do the same things as the XJ but failing...lol
