Thanks for this video, however there seems to be some confusion in the comments.
The staff is considered a "foundation" weapon in Chinese martial arts. Tai Chi Chuan forms came later, such as the popular Yang 68, from the Yang Bao linage, and the Chen forms, such basic Chen short form. Chinese staffs are bamboo while Japanese staffs are hardwood, with Bo being longer and the Jo being shorter. My Jo is 36 inches, and my Bo 60 inches, the same as the Chinese staff, that seems standard.
nice form!

This is a simplified version of the Niulang Staff of GM Xiao and not Tai Chi.

how long is a short staff? around 4 ft?

There are some standard Japanese sizes like the Jo, which is 50 to 56 inches long. But some schools fit it in length up to the individual's arm pit.

@SuperKixxx
Chinese short staff is normally about 13 fist width (about 3.5 to 4 inches each) long. So a Chinese is about 40 inchese.
