How I wish someone had shared the voice of this lovely lady with me as a child!!! The Holy Spirit anoints the recording of her voice still after all these years! Very powerful and uplifting, as always.

Mildred was as sick as Mahalia, so she no longer used her as an accompanist on the extended tours. Only around the Chicago area. But Mahalia still helped take care of Mildred. You know they died only a few months apart?

I think she was also developing arthritis in her hands as well and just wasn't as able to get around as much like before. It's interesting that people have said they fell out over money and a biographer/friend stated that Mahalia did pay Mildred's doctor's bills and left her in her will. Mildred didn't benefit from the bequeathing because she died months after, "Sister".

Well there were a few areas in the book that showed there was a falling out, but L. G. never went into detail of what caused them. I'm sure along with sickness, Mildred also wanted (and deserved) more money, and was also a tad jealous of eddie robinson, but that's just what i was left to believe from the book...

I was going to just reside in my illnesses, but that pwerful voice just helped me to heal alot quicker than I would have, had I not turned on my dvd and CD players.

I couldn't believe it.

Now I sing her songs in church, the songs Mother Mahalia sings just minister to me, than I minister to others, if a song don't minister, I don't bother.

Wonderful! 40 years after I discovered Mahalia she is stil able to surprise me and make me cry! This is pure art and I don't evn know if the people who where lucky enough to be there were able to appreciate at the right level!!!
