He has an aura that looks like an angel with the innocent of a child and end up bringing you a such accomplishment of a elegant execution and delight and irresistible surprise!!!
It is one of the best performances by Baryshnikov. The stretch, the speed of pirouettes, pause, height of jump, everything is so perfect. Plus he is so fit and beautiful in this beautiful, and has such a carisma. He just takes my breath away. For me, he is the best male ballet dancer ever in the world.
fuck me, that don quixote was amazing, hes done don q so much but that is the best out of em all, so clean and fast and controlled and OMG BRAVO AMAZING
Just look at the 2 of them dance the two pieces in this clip ...NOBODY DANCES THESES PIECES BETTER..ALTHOUGH CARLOS AND BROOKLYN MACK SURE MAKE GO OF IT!! BROVO TO THEM TOO!
I guess the difference between Baryshnikov and Nureyev is that the first shows us the speed, the precision of the ultimate masculinity in dance, being at the same time so delicate. The second is the complex beauty and the sublety of androginity in it. It´s a question of language of each artist, reflecting their own personalities, both so magical, so mesmerizing.
I find Misha's technique more precised, and he has an amazing presence, acting and masculinity on stage...nobody like him... I admire Nureyev, but Misha makes me cry! :)
Are you high. He was sloppy and unrefined compared to Misha. Get real! Look at the two of them dancing this same piece. Misha is always damned near perfect. he leaned slightly out a turn. That's it!
Later, I see Barysnikov, and he looks even better. Then, I see Nureyev again, and I agree with those who think he is a little better. And when I see Misha, again, ....
Well, in fact, I can't say who is the better, but this discussions are a good motiv to see then dancing again, and again, and again.
LOL!!..btuI always think Misha is better. H emade me don ballet slippers ad I haven;t stopped dancing yet..and I can really move. He made me want to dance. The way Nadia and Olga made me takeup gymanastics. Still at that too! Misha is so lovelyto watch. What exuberance , sure footidness, power, precision, masculine femininity..could watch him dance all day every day!! Of course Nureyev has his place in the history of the ballet..but Misha he ain't.
No one had that kind of hang time until Michael Jordan came along. I was so lucky to see this movie when it first came out. Not only was my jaw on the ground but so was my 6'7'' basketball playing boyfriend's. I bet he never thought he'd be so shocked and in awe of Baryshnikov. Baryshnikov proved to a lot of men that ballet isn't for weaklings and pansies. Thank you for this clip and also thank you for not changing the musical score on this one.
Minha referencia antes de ver esse seria outra, mas depois de ver essa criatura...ele tem tudo certo...time de música, performance, técnica, corpo e alma,não é sempre que aparece no mundo um assim...é meu ídolo...
These clips are from "The Turning Point" and comprised of many cuts and edits. Baryshnikov was phenomenal, but what you see here was not what you would see from him on stage.
On the other hand, I saw Carlos Acosta live for the first time in May (Swan Lake). His performance live was BETTER than any of the videos posted of him here I am dumbfounded, and am reassessing my previous opinion that Misha was the greatest dancer of our generation. I will see Acosta some more to gather more data.....
Then the editor must have been a helluva splicer. LOL! Maybe you are so impressed with Acosta because you haven't seen Baryshnikov dance in a long time? You know, out of sight out of your mind!!!
Nope....not even close. I just watched. Acosta seems to be a fine dancer but he's nowhere as "high" as Baryshnikov and Nuriyev. Further, you could tell where Acosta lost his momentum.
Different strengths, but Acosta is the better turner. I never saw Nureyev live, but I saw Misha about a dozen times from 1980-1985. I have now seen Acosta three times live in the last five months (including Bayadere this week - maybe we were at the same performance!) Acosta is past his prime, but still cleaner all three times than I ever saw Misha.
my god he is jsut so god damn brilliant. the fire the burn the pirouttes the control. he took ballet and made it soo damn cool and groovy. like combining fred astaire with nureyev into this amazing creature. blows me away
i saw so many corsaire solos on youtube, from angel corella, carlos acosta, ruzimatov, leonid sarafanov, ivan vasiliev, and BY FAR, misha is STILL THE BEST!!!!!!!! best ALI in history!!!!!
Nureyev performed with ballerinas of equal status & inspired them Baryshnikov selected partners he could dominate always we could appreciate what each had to offer
He has an aura that looks like an angel with the innocent of a child and end up bringing you a such accomplishment of a elegant execution and delight and irresistible surprise!!!
