I've got something to tell you and you may not have realized it, BUT THERE'S AN AUDIENCE WATCHING YOU!
It appeared that you were playing to impress your bass player while you only briefly glanced at the paying punters just once. Somebody who looks and plays as you do should have no reason to be shy about playing to the crowd. Work on your stagecraft!
