I've since lived in California and Nevada, and can truly say that I've not encountered the same type of anger, craziness, and complacency that I grew up with and experienced in Tucson AND in Phoenix. Phoenix is just a big Tucson, and the heat cannot be blamed for it...the spiritual and political atmosphere is not healthy in AZ. If I know something bad is going to happen, I have a moral and legal responsibility to take actions to reduce the risk. A law enforcement professional has a sworn duty to do the same. Incompetence is not excusable. Even if the Congresswoman refused police protection, the citizens would need protection. Dupnik needs to take that Partisan finger and point it at himself.

How can anyone criticize this guy? His statement didn't blame Republicans or Democrats, but the culture of fear and confrontation which includes everybody. His job is to keep the peace, so he has to monitor and be aware of the attitudes of the people in his community. So if he sees an alarming trend of people fomenting violence and using aggresive tactics, why shouldn't he comment on it?
