  • Shit.... goosebumps!!!

  • There's only 2 kinds of people in this world...the ones that think he's a genius......and the ones that think he needs a little auto-tuning.

  • Where has this guy been all my life?! I must have been living in a flipping cave! Awesome track and an amzing voice!

  • Who's Corabell Lee :)

  • Damn that hit the spot

  • My ceramics teacher in high school would play Tom on a tape deck. She was my all time favorite teacher.

  • the singing rust bucket (;

  • 17 people need to get their ears fixed.

  • I accidently disliked this... how can I fix this, I won't be able to go on with my life knowing that my dislike might have been counted here accidently...

  • ωραιος ο Θωμας Περιμενεις!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Listened at Tom for moore than 30 years now, and he is GOOD! I love u Tom u One of the best ever....

  • Jay86 if your going to have 1 video, this is the one.

  • 17 people should walk away and start over again.

  • @iw32 thats's an original idea for a comment, did u think of that one yourself?

  • @iw32 bulls eye!

  • tremendous, Mr. Waits!

  • Love it, Tom is very diverse. Not alot of musical geniuses left, well besides Hank motherfuckin III

  • Oh mother of are you there God, this song is so addictive.

  • I don't know a single person who loves Tom as much as I do.

His music is kind of how I image the inside of my head to be like.

  • Newsflash — People who are really intelligent don't think that way.

  • Ok, understand this douchebags... while you have a right to choose which music you like or do not like, you have absolutely no right to malign other people simply because of the music they choose to enjoy. I like Tom Waits, and also happen to dislike pop music, but it is so irritating for me to try to listen to a song I enjoy, but the comments underneath are strewn with rants by pretentious a*holes who think that listening/not listening to a particular type of music makes them intelligent.

  • @toluwanile wonderfully put !!! ......bravo my friend

  • @toluwanile Amen brother.

  • A Masterpiece

  • I wish more people appreciated real music like this. If good music moved units like shitty pop does Tom Waits would be a zillionaire.

  • Waits is a lyrical genius -

    someone who can create soundscrapes

not only in his music, but also in his lyrics.

He didn't have to 'officially' be in the

"Rock and Roll Hall of Fame."

His loyal fans put him there many years ago

and passed him on to each new generation.

It is to them I say ~

Heart-thanks for the priceless gift of Tom Waits!

    .

  • @Giavannanow love how you just invented the word sondscrapes. Fits too well to be a typo

  • No more rain No more roses, i love this song

  • zajebista muza :)

  • It's time to walk away but I'll be back when, its time to walk away and start all over again......

  • which album is it from?

  • 15 ppl can't walk away

  • I LOVE TOM WAITS! AND I LOVE THIS SONG!

  • I have walked away a few times and started all over again. Hell it's hard work!

  • what album is that from

  • @dirtberd I think its on Orphans - 3 discer and worth getting but i think it was used on a soundtrack before that ..... i have been known to be wrong.

  • @dirtberd i think it is from brawlers from the orphans album.

  • Oh come on american idol can be fun lol. Adam Lambert is a pretty fucking talented dude. He came from american idol.

Dont get me wrong. I have been Rain Dog since I was 15, but theres some good new artists too :)

  • @draigan Adam who???? haha

  • wish that those 15 people walked away!

  • Check out Mark Willer, if you can find him. He's a lot like this and a fucking brilliant musician.

  • You guys know about Waitswatcher? quite a talented guitarist who seems to know every Tom ever hummed, worth looking him up - especially his teaming up with 'vamooshbabe' (i am sure i got that name wrong...)

  • Reminds me of Capt Beefheart...just found out he passed away recently. Another one walked away...

  • Sums up my plans, as it pertains to me and my situation. People Screwed me over and now I'm just going to walk away and move to Taiwan, to start all over again. I realize the people who screwed me over are just immortal, manipulative, and untrustworthy, so why end up in the trap of false promises or promises with unacceptable conditions. And that why I'm just going to walk away and denie them what they want, and are unable to let go. Though, it is them that has blood on their hand.

  • Sums up why I'm moving to Taiwan.

  • i fuckin pis on my pants

  • i wanna kill 15 peoples...

  • The voice. Hell yes.

  • Tom Waits For No Man!

  • Oooooooh. It is sooo good ...

  • when i hear songs like this

it feels like ive been born way to late..

  • gawd he's good.

  • Epic singer and songwriter!

  • Congratulations on getting in the Rock N' Roll Hall of Fame Tom. I can't think of someone who deserves it more.

  • I think that I have my favourites of his songs... and suddenly rediscover something. His music is one that changes as you hear it more, and it only gets better. I'd love to go to his concert but on the other hand... with his music I see myself wrapped in a blanket with a glass of red wine beside the gramophone with his vynils. That's just utter enjoyment.

  • @opredeleno Amazingly, he manages to sound fresh more often than most.

  • @MisterWhat I agree with you. I love him all the way from 1973 to 2006 (2009) and will love him FOR.EVER

He is so creative that even with this number of albums I wonder why there aren't at least five (or ten) more. I'm sure it's not the lack of ideas

  • Tom Waits... Been on a fling renting cd's from the library, Came across Brawlers, Bawlers and Bastards. Instant love. Never heard any of Toms music prior to that. Then yesterday they played Step Right Up on the local Jazz station. He has found a place in my permanent music collection. And I won't be setting him down anytime soon.

  • 1 word !

    Fantastic!

  • he goes deeper and deeper into the roots i met him and had a chat in a chemist shop in sloane square london in 1982 the morning after a tv show he'd done and got slated by a couple of dorks i love him and his musical pagentry 'keep on keepin' on brother Tom

  • Tom Waits......no one like him

  • toma waits it,s amazing

  • The whole philosophy of everyone's live - something we should apply EVERY DAY over and over again (!) : "The beginning of it starts at the end

When it's time to walk away and start over again."

  • I love all your comments about how much Tom Waits rulez. Thanks for making my night.

  • All good things comes to those who Waits <3

  • @liegen420

    Do it for the lulz!

  • he is realy adictiv cant stop listening

  • @nikolai841

    His music speaks to me.

  • @marquisdejolie I hear you man!!!!

  • It's too bad he met the love of his life before I was born.

  • I've only heard one Tom Waits song before this, and I'm ashamed to say I didn't like him much. After listening to this one I have to say I was stupid because he's BRILLIANT.

  • @bananachip33 welcome...squeak!...enjoy

  • not to copy minimacas but this is the first time i've heard tom waits. the only other time i've seen him was his cameo in the fisher king.

    what have i been missing?

  • tom waits- more addictive than heroin. and must be a lot healthier too!

  • It's a picture of young mr. Waits and a song of older mr. Waits but I have no complaints

  • No more rain no more road tralala...lala!!!

  • 11 retards dislike the mastepiece

  • ....I left my bible by the side of the road

Carve my initials in an old dead tree

I'm going away but I'm going to be back when

It's time to walk away and start over again.

  • Need more Tom Waits like this.

  • This is the first song I heard by Tom Waits. After that I fell in love with him right away!

  • @ConanTheLibrarian100 OH !....I hope so to!

  • @ConanTheLibrarian100 well look at me I'm 15 and people my age are absorbed in to that stuff, luckily my mum loves Tom Waits and she met Lenoard Cohen. That isn't to say that there isn't any good rap, there's some good stuff (it's much older of course) but here is some that i think you'll appreciate, it's called, spacious thoughts search it up :D

  • @jak001011 Wow, mate,I'm Impressed with your musical tastebuds at such a young age! I wish MY mum had introduced me to Cohen and Waits when I was a kid,(although she did give me Bob Dylan, Cat Stevens and Janis Joplin)

  • Really is such a powerful & haunting line isn't it?...

Endless regrets from the adventure's of our youth

One of his best works ever

  • people lay off on the smoking arguments! does it really matter what makes him sound the way he does as long as he delivers masterpieces like this little gem? i don't think so personally.

  • and for actors and singers it helps protect the vocal chords, i have an actor friend who smokes and he has never had a problem with nojules, or infections.

  • what album is this taken from

  • @lenny121 This song is from the Dead Man Walking soundtrack.

  • Orphans!

  • Thanks a bunch ;)

  • @lenny121 Orphans; Brawlers, Bawlers & Bastards

  • One of the best ever.

  • i feel tom waits is up there in musical and lyrical genius with such figures as bob marley, and eric clapton. completely different types of music, but completely equal musical talent.

  • Loooove it!!!

  • my favorite since now

  • LOVE THIS SONG one of the mostpoetic out there that isnt a lame ballad...

  • Absolutely fantastic.

  • isn't it amazing?

  • Sure is

  • but it's not the smoke and whiskey that would ruin your voice by the mid 20s, it's doing a stage act where you growl a lot of the time or talk in a voice far lower than what's natural. That'll stress you throat fastest.

  • his voice ain't ruined

  • while this is true, in his earlier albums he didnt have the same raspy voice, and i believe he was 24 when closing time was released. if i were to hazard a guess the combination of years of singing, and possibly smoking merely assisted his obvious desire to experiment, hes talked a bit about how he loves almost all sounds so it makes sense that he would use his own voice in a wider variety of ways.

  • bellissima come tutte... <3
