@Flexfuel306 small crowds are typical at west coast division races. Especially since there had been a National Event at that same track the weekend before!!!
So Chris...I notice it does not appear like you use any kind of throttle stop during the burn out like you see in the fuel classes. Doesn't that make it tough to make consistant burnouts without over reving the engine? Secondly, on the second pass what happened? It seemed to sound ok leaving the line then all the sudden the engine shut off. Burst panel? Ign related?
@jimmylayers No throttle stop for me :) I do not think a throttle stop would work on an alcohol car. At 4:05 into the video (2nd run) you can see that I have to give the motor about 20% throttle to get the tires spinning, then back off to about 10% as I continue through the burnout. On the 2nd run the tire shake caused a connector to come loose on the safety box which killed the motor and deployed the chutes.
@cdemke yeah the safety box thing was my next guess. It's a great concept when it works as it should. Do you know anything new about the Neal Parker crash? I have been keeping tabs on the NHRA website and there have been no updates there. Any real details about what/how it happened? All that was ever said is he went into the sand at a high rate of speed...no word on what he hit or how....did his throttle hang?
Very disappointing to see such a small crowd given the speed and level of skill these drivers in TAD and TAFC have.
