Notice the people in the audience the looks on their faces. They're actually looking to "a character" as if he were the real deal. This kind of comedy amazes me, few people have ever pulled it off with such grace. There was always that thought lingering in the backs on the minds of "Guido Sarducci's" audience and that was, "Will he say something so wise that we'll never forget it?" as strange as that may seem it was true. Just watch his audience.
Don Novello is one hell of an actor. Liked his part in God Father III he was an under rated actor, I'm miss the days of "incognito acting" made famous by men like Don Novello and Andy Kaufman who made Latka so "lovable" a character Kaufman would later come to hate. Father Guido Sarducci is one of comedy's best characters ever invented!!
When is the last time Don Novello played this character? Last I checked he's still alive, and would be making a goddamn fortune if he were still doing this gig.
Has anyone ever seen one of him talking about a "Christ Prom"? My dad said he saw it once and loved it.... I haven't seen it and would like to. My dad is gone and I would like to see this...
I'm so glad that tso many people have viewed and enjoyed this video. It's my favorite skit by Fr. Guido. I did notice one dislike, and would have preferred that they left a comment explaining what it was they didn't approve of. Of course it would be more for the enjoyment of hearing some uptight overzealous catholic asshole disapprove of his humor. I was raised catholic and attended 12 years of catholic schooling so I'm aware of the fanaticism that exists.
@Apples9207 Is there audio out of sync for everyone or just me? I *LOVE* this video - I didn't "dislike" it ... but maybe that person did because of the bad sound.
@Apples9207 - Thank you so much!! I've been looking for this sketch--before I saw this, I had only heard the Mother Seton part. I didn't know there was more to it!! Thanks again!! And don't worry about the minuscule number of dislikes--probably twelve-years-olds "daring to be different." ;-)
Thanks so much for this video! I'm an old fan of the original SNL comedians, and this really made me smile :-)
PS: Ignore the jerks who left a "Dislike" here...they need to lighten up! Thanks again!
