Seems that you did nice research in this field. I was brought here by my uni tutor, who suggested I should dig around the origin of live and so I stumbled across this video. Again, thanks for uploading it.
This was put together strictly for YouTube. It had it's genesis due to the Kate Valentine UFO Show episode in which we discussed the NASA research on microbes that use arsenic instead of phosphorous in their DNA (possibly, still to be confirmed) and the idea that other, unrecognized life forms exist quietly around us. Few topics are as much fun to investigate. Be sure to check the Astrobiology web site which will get you to quite a few free scientific publications.
Very good vido, I've though a lot about this the last months. My conclusions are:
The 'tree of life' is not a very good metaphore, it actually is at least partly a web of life (horizontal gene transfer etc), so life originating from a second genesis would probably be integrated into this web (just as bacteria can get genes against antibiotica from unrelated species, and as mitochondria were incorporated into eukaryotes). Life as we know it would be the product of this process.
