I've found the place Chrome really shines is when using heavy javascript based web-applications, namely google's reliance on ajax.

Chrome's popularity and usefullness will increase as web developers use more client side scripting.

I downloaded Chrome and it did seem pretty cool because it starts up much faster than Firefox even. I got rid of it since It started to freeze, but since it's in Beta I can't complain too much.

It's in Beta so I would say no. And I don't like to call different browsers better than others (even IE). It's all about using the best "tools for the job". I will say that Google Chrome is really cool though.
