I would have never thought that this series actually take place on another planet. They should have made it a bit less diffrent from earth, in order to give the feel. Otherwise it looks like a sci fi drama in near future on earth.

Though I did love it, I can clearly see why it failed. Advertising as it as "from the creators of Battlestar Galactica" when it's a family drama...I mean, why? That's like slapping From The Creators of Hello Kitty on the DVD for the Human Centipede, you know?! I loved Galactica and Caprica, but I think that's only because I love all the genres :L Better marketing, better timing, more sfx and action scenes early on instead of saving it all for the UNAIRED series2 would have let this show BLOOM!

Even though they explored the religious idea of the BGS universe which I thought was very very enjoyable, I am trying to put the pieces together why they canceled it. Sure BGS was all about action, but in truth most of the time there wasn't any. What made this show unique was to go further down the lore of BGS and show the events before the invasion. My thinking is, that they wanted to show a different perspective of human interaction. Its not some peoples cup of tea I guess =( which is sad.

The directors ruined the series by excessively focusing on that religious nonsense. Religion is not why we watched BSG and not why we began watching Caprica. We are sci-fi fans, not theologians. BSG fans nothing can replace the original show but Stargate Universe is making a good attempt.

Daniel Graystone creates the first Cylon Centurions, who rebel and go to war with humanity, presumably after uploading his daughter Zoe's "One True God" religious montheism into their programming.

The "Final Five" humanoid Cylons take 2,000 years to travel from the nuked Earth to the Twelve Colonies, arriving right as the First Cylon War is ending, and agree to construct the other eight skinjob models.

It all tracks perfectly.

Actually it said in the Mini series that;

"No one has seen or heard from the Cylons in over 40 years" which explains how William Adama fought in the first Cylon war.

Caprica is set around 50 years before the fall I believe.

I loved this pilot so much. Its totally different from BSG, yet, just as relevant, deep, and interesting. Plus, I'm really looking forward to the writers exploring the burgeoning Inter-Colonial War in which the Cylons are being built to fight in. I love this world they've created; it brings so much texture to the world BSG left behind - the world the Cylons annihilated. BSG does, indeed, live on.

I enjoyed the pilot movie, most interesting new show that I've seen this season, although it's pretty different from BSG. No human-impersonating robots yet but the shiny, metal variety will play a role. The special effects are very good by the way.
