@neokorus Very similar for specials. Same quarter-circles and half-circles as some charge moves, but you only have 2 attack strengths each. I'm not good at fighting games yet, so I'm no expert on combos, but it's harder like SF, and not like Marvel vs Capcom 3 or Blazblue.
Im thinking of buying this game..... Im a big fighting game player and I need aa break from cross over tag team fighters but need something new to hold me over till SSFVAE comes out. Thing is ive heard storys about the lag online. But overall it looks great. But doesnt KOF 13 come out soon?
@Bigmac8r XIII is out October 25. This game has awesome character design/moves and a pretty good system. Unfortunately, single player is totally unacceptable--the AI, even at the highest skill level, literally does nothing but random jumps and normals and an occasional special. I've played fighting games since 1992 and this is by far the worst AI I've ever seen. It's clearly a beta for XIII, and makes me really psyched for it to come out, but I'll be very lucky if I can ever sell XII online.
@drfuturity I can't accept the fact that we'll be missing 2d version of soiree and alba meira.. they were good characters.. oh yeah and of course venessa and blue mary..
@cactussheep Yeah, but of course KOF has so many characters that they couldn't keep them all in any one game. What's nuts is them leaving out popular ones like Mai, K' and King in XII. XIII looks like a great system, though, and for all we know they may release more characters as DLC(since every game company loves this evil tactic now...)
@drfuturity haha true, farewell capcom and their gay ass street fighter 4.. they're milking that game so bad that the arcade edition only contain extra 3 characters and a few tweaks priced at 32 usd compared to its previous ssf4 for less than 19 bucks..
@cactussheep First off, AE has *four* new characters and so many easily confirmable balance changes that I could name tons of character-specific ones off the top of my head(and find YouTube clips of them) and it wouldn't be a tenth of the changes. As for price, "gay ass" SSF4 was on Amazon for about 27 bucks before AE came out, and you can(as I did) upgrade to AE for 14.99 on PSN/XBL. Much as I love KOF, SNK are the thieving ones as of late, releasing a maybe half-complete KOF XII to "milk".
@marzwoody I only have PS3, but for what it's worth, there seem to be absolutely nobody playing online for KOF XII. Definitely wait until October to get XIII, which is clearly a vast improvement(I can tell this much just from using clips, so playing it is going to be awesome after dealing with the sixty-dollar demo that XII turned out to be.
@drfuturity right, im a big fan of fighting games my best being guilty gear. ive never played this but for what its worth it looks awesome and the graphics look incredible. it might not have the biggest roster etc. but is it not worth picking up just to play and friends? it looks fun to me. and 13 looks awesome
@marzwoody Huge fan myself, but haven't gotten back into it until a few months ago. The graphics/character design are great, but just ask yourself this: Are you okay with buying a game with a worthless single player mode, basically no online play, and with around half the roster of its sequel that's coming out in less than three months? Even the movelist is very incomplete. As someone that owns XII, I say wait for XIII.

@marzwoody Since you have the "advantage" of not being that familiar with KOF, you can wait it out with less frustration. In my case, I KNOW how XII feels in general, so I'm sitting here furious that I have to wait until Oct. for there to be a truly well-made, or even half-complete game. It's really irritating how blatantly SNK just threw something together they knew was an incomplete product and sold it, especially for that much. I *strongly* recommend waiting for XIII. XII will be useless.
like but the effects are not really nice. shiny 3d but the feeling looks lost: The fire effect of the kyo specials has lost the nice burning wave u can see from the 94-till the 99 and even 2002. this combo mode is the only think that might make the game interesting.

I notice something your play style is good but you have holes that are easy to see counter combos are good but any good player like myself would counter your counter with a counter but your good tho no doubt about it
This game looks horrible. The character art, the supers, and especially when a hit connects. Having a large flashing hit connect graphic covering half the other guys body looks tacky. There's a sinking feeling that they did this to cover up bad animation. Everything looks clunky, and it's hard to understand just exactly what a character is doing at any given time. Instead of trying to do what SF4 did (and failing horrible at it), they should keep the beautiful sprites they've used in the past.
Iori doesn't need to shoot flames, he can just tear you apart with his bear hands. I used to think it was dumb, but, why he would ever even care about to get his flames back even though he's so absurd without them is a mystery to me. Of course, shooting fire is pretty l33t.
hope for rugal and nameless(which i doubt they will put him) to be in kof xiii, i dont mind paying 60 if its awesome, just got xii for 30 and its seems cool
I apologize in advance for my ignorance, but I haven't played KOF in awhile, and just got KOF XII for my xbox. What's that stunning move Robert (and everyone else) does at 6:08? Is that the Critical Counter system? how do you do that?
@tjjavier yes, it is. Whenever both players press fierce punch/kick simultaneously at the full green bar, someone will enter in the critical counter mode, and you can do a custom combo like street fighter alpha 2. Note that it is very strange to do it in a casual match (use it well)
ralf and clark.. they look like their overdosed with steroids, kyo still remains cool with his xi jacket, and got even cooler with the new graphics, iori got a downgrade, no flames T_T, but still, for me, he kinda had an upgrade without those flames, he became faster, cooler.. lazier -_- and ash? yeah he kinda looks like Break on Pandora hearts, not the hair, just the attitude heh, athena.. i cant see her mouth! lols, chin got more drunk than before, terry now looks like he's from ralf's gang
This game was crap compared to KOF 11 WTF were they thinking when they only thought to make it look pretty. Everyone except kyo, terry, and a few others had all of their moves stripped from this game from previous KOF. I never thought I'd be this disappointed....well maybe except KOF maximum impact and 2006. But those were heck of a lot better than this POS

@MasterDarlux si es que no viste una de las sagas anteriores no me acuerdo cual era creo que era XI a iori le quitan los poderes para ver ese ending donde ash aparente mente le quita sus poderes para ver ese final juega en el equipo Iori, Kyo y Shingo

@alonsojett technically though the assets are made for 480p so an EDTV that can display 480p (20-30" screen) through component would be the best as you wouldn't get the pixelation on zooming as much. It looks pretty bad in 1080p on a 50" tv.
@mohitoride I disagree, the sprites may be low-res but the backgrounds and the HUD are made for HD. I love the huge ass pixels on my screen anyway. :P
@mohitoride Yes they look as if they took the sprites from KOF 94 and blew it out of proportion making it a pixelated mess and the chars are way too big. The colors are ugly, dull and washed out.

@John2137 That's the problem with KoF, the story is really important and sometimes it affects the gameplay, some characters die and if it was your main or favorite character you have to wait for them to reapear in a dream match, but there's a lot of cool things going for KoF the 3 vs 3 battles nice design of characters that always evolves and stays fresh, grapplers that can do combos and chains.
@John2137 I prefer XII Iori to the old one (who's played the same for like 10 years and isn't much more than a shotoclone, though in XII Kyo and Iori switched places.. now Kyo is the fireball/uppercut character.
Nice Combo Compilation This game is not as Terrible as People say it is The Game just seems unfinished to me like their was stuff missing . I really hope they Keep The Critical Counter System in KOF XIII (Make it Optional like being able to select it as a playstyle). Pretty sure people who kept playing the game are used to it.
@BrB619 IMHO, I think the CC system was overpowered. One move being able to cause that much damage is kinda ridiculous when it's easy to catch people with.

Pues raiden e el westrler grandullón y gordo... claro que aporta, o es que ves muchos como el en este juego? como dije hace que el plantel de personajes sea mas variado.
Si querian poner antiguos que aporten y con buenos movimientos competitivos, mejor estan Rick Strow, Sokaku, Alfred, el Franco Bash de RB... sin duda hay mejores. La historia de AOF es una mafia usando a Takuma secuestran a Yuri y es RYO el que va tras el villano pidiendole a Robert que lo acompañe.
KoF13 is set to come out this summer for consoles. If you are even remotely interested in 12 just rent it---it's not worth the money as no one plays online and the online itself doesn't work. There's no offline content to busy yourself with either so it's just something you'd wanna try once and never again.
13 though is a complete 180 into the world of awesome! :D

@skanazi los hack de los demas kof eran demasiado para noobs, esta es la kof de la vieja escuela, es cruda no hay infinitos pero si se hacen buenos combos, eso aun existe en esta kof, pero por lo que veo gente como tu prefiere hartos poderes infinitos y combos infinitos, la verdad estas mal, si juegas bien debes jugar debido a las reglas reuniendo barras de poder y hacer combos no tan extremos como la 2012. si, es cierto no hay jefe pero eso no me detiene es una buena kof y tiene buenos logros

Yo encuentro que mejoraron mucho en comparación al KOF 2003, XI, etc (Los nuevos después del 2002). Las graficas son buenas (frase dicha desde 95), sin embargo muchas cosas han cambiado. Igual paso con Guilty Gear. A lo cito a un amigo: "Adaptarse o morir". Simple: juegalo, adaptate y avanza; si no te gusta, mejor no lo juegues y deja de quejarte.

Las animaciones se ven excelentes, al igual que los efectos pero el diseño de la pantalla esta horrible; las barras de energía (HP y SP) estorban y no puedes apreciar la acción al 100%.
yo estoy de acuerdo con shinkeidei, el mejor sf para mi es el sf 3rd strike y el ssf2t, el 4 me agrado pero no mucho e igual kof ha perdido lo que era, espero que vuelvan a tomar lo que fue kof 98 o 2002
Para mi el mejor KOF siempre a sido y sera el 2002, ademas de ser algo viejo este juego, lo siguen jugando en linea muchos cabrones en GGPO y entre ellos estoy yo =)
Me encanta KOF XII, pero la verdad es que este juego tiene un roster muy limitado comparando con KOF 98. Ojalá que SNK se ponga las pilas y nos regalen un KOF aún mejor.
Es cualquiera, en vez de inventar algo nuevo, copiaron el mismo sistema de pelea que tenia el "Rage of the Dragons" de Playmore, antes de que se una con SNK
se ve q no has jugado sf4 mucho, si no es que lo haz jugado por lo menos, admito que sf3:3rd es el mejor sf y el mejor juego de peleas 2d, (no alegatas por favor) pero sf$ eta lejos de ser sf2 en 3d, es mas bien una mezcla de 3rdstrike y ssf2turbo. Y si vamos a esas, todos lo juegos de peleas 2d son sf2 con combos o bonitos graficos, o diferentes personajes. las reglas que hacen a sf2 un juego profundo y competitivo, footsie, zoning, mixing, todo aplica para cualquier juego...
Los combos son muy sencillos aparte que ya no hay que ser tan preciso me gusta el juego pero pues hicieron falta mas personajes prefiero jugar KOF 98 Um en x box live en ese kof si hay que ser creativo y algunos combos necesitan precision extrema .
A mí me vale gorro lo que digan, simplemente no me gusta que hagan comparaciones de KoF con Street Fighter. Si a comparaciones vamos el SF IV solo tiene un contraataque y un par de especiales, no puedes hacer buenos combos, o largos, por el contrario en KoF sí se puede mientras tu imaginación y habilidad te lo permita. SF tiene lo suyo así como KoF, no salgan con tonterías.
si hay algo ke amo del kof es ke sus kombos dependen de habilidad y de imaginacion komo dices...
en juegos komo Tekken, SF y la mayoria de naruto y DB son jeugos donde los kombos estan predefinidos por komandos obligatorios. en kof no... muchas veces dependes mas de kuanto dura un personaje en reaccionar de un golpe a kuantos golpes puedes dar acertando una sekuencia. bien por legaspi

This game looks horrible. The character art, the supers, and especially when a hit connects. Having a large flashing hit connect graphic covering half the other guys body looks tacky. There's a sinking feeling that they did this to cover up bad animation. Everything looks clunky, and it's hard to understand just exactly what a character is doing at any given time. Instead of trying to do what SF4 did (and failing horrible at it), they should keep the beautiful sprites they've used in the past.

Iori doesn't need to shoot flames, he can just tear you apart with his bear hands. I used to think it was dumb, but, why he would ever even care about to get his flames back even though he's so absurd without them is a mystery to me. Of course, shooting fire is pretty l33t.

I apologize in advance for my ignorance, but I haven't played KOF in awhile, and just got KOF XII for my xbox. What's that stunning move Robert (and everyone else) does at 6:08? Is that the Critical Counter system? how do you do that?

@tjjavier yes, it is. Whenever both players press fierce punch/kick simultaneously at the full green bar, someone will enter in the critical counter mode, and you can do a custom combo like street fighter alpha 2. Note that it is very strange to do it in a casual match (use it well)

ralf and clark.. they look like their overdosed with steroids, kyo still remains cool with his xi jacket, and got even cooler with the new graphics, iori got a downgrade, no flames T_T, but still, for me, he kinda had an upgrade without those flames, he became faster, cooler.. lazier -_- and ash? yeah he kinda looks like Break on Pandora hearts, not the hair, just the attitude heh, athena.. i cant see her mouth! lols, chin got more drunk than before, terry now looks like he's from ralf's gang

This game was crap compared to KOF 11 WTF were they thinking when they only thought to make it look pretty. Everyone except kyo, terry, and a few others had all of their moves stripped from this game from previous KOF. I never thought I'd be this disappointed....well maybe except KOF maximum impact and 2006. But those were heck of a lot better than this POS

@alonsojett technically though the assets are made for 480p so an EDTV that can display 480p (20-30" screen) through component would be the best as you wouldn't get the pixelation on zooming as much. It looks pretty bad in 1080p on a 50" tv.

@mohitoride Yes they look as if they took the sprites from KOF 94 and blew it out of proportion making it a pixelated mess and the chars are way too big. The colors are ugly, dull and washed out.

@John2137 That's the problem with KoF, the story is really important and sometimes it affects the gameplay, some characters die and if it was your main or favorite character you have to wait for them to reapear in a dream match, but there's a lot of cool things going for KoF the 3 vs 3 battles nice design of characters that always evolves and stays fresh, grapplers that can do combos and chains.

@John2137 I prefer XII Iori to the old one (who's played the same for like 10 years and isn't much more than a shotoclone, though in XII Kyo and Iori switched places.. now Kyo is the fireball/uppercut character.

Nice Combo Compilation This game is not as Terrible as People say it is The Game just seems unfinished to me like their was stuff missing . I really hope they Keep The Critical Counter System in KOF XIII (Make it Optional like being able to select it as a playstyle). Pretty sure people who kept playing the game are used to it.

Si querian poner antiguos que aporten y con buenos movimientos competitivos, mejor estan Rick Strow, Sokaku, Alfred, el Franco Bash de RB... sin duda hay mejores. La historia de AOF es una mafia usando a Takuma secuestran a Yuri y es RYO el que va tras el villano pidiendole a Robert que lo acompañe.

KoF13 is set to come out this summer for consoles. If you are even remotely interested in 12 just rent it---it's not worth the money as no one plays online and the online itself doesn't work. There's no offline content to busy yourself with either so it's just something you'd wanna try once and never again.
13 though is a complete 180 into the world of awesome! :D

yo digo que se fueron mucho alas graficas y dejaron atras lo que nos gustaba los combos los poderes los nuevos personajes los jefes <.< y todo eso la vdd no me importarian se los sakaran en 2D pero que sean buenos como el resto de las kof desde la 2002UM no han sacado nada bueno x_x esperemos regresen alo chido :P

@skanazi los hack de los demas kof eran demasiado para noobs, esta es la kof de la vieja escuela, es cruda no hay infinitos pero si se hacen buenos combos, eso aun existe en esta kof, pero por lo que veo gente como tu prefiere hartos poderes infinitos y combos infinitos, la verdad estas mal, si juegas bien debes jugar debido a las reglas reuniendo barras de poder y hacer combos no tan extremos como la 2012. si, es cierto no hay jefe pero eso no me detiene es una buena kof y tiene buenos logros

@skanazi De que hablas? La jugabilidad es excelente y los combos que puedes hacer también lo son, sin hablar de los skills que están excelentes. Y 20 personajes no es poco. Yo encuentro que mejoraron mucho en comparación al KOF 2003, XI, etc (Los nuevos después del 2002). Y si te quedaste en el 2002, una verdadera lástima porque te pierdes la historia, mejoras, y todas las novedades de los nuevos KOF.

Las graficas son buenas (frase dicha desde 95), sin embargo muchas cosas han cambiado. Igual paso con Guilty Gear. A lo cito a un amigo: "Adaptarse o morir". Simple: juegalo, adaptate y avanza; si no te gusta, mejor no lo juegues y deja de quejarte.

Claro unos diran: no es sierto, este si sera el mejor juego de KOF. Pero solo los graficos los estan engañando, aparte que le faltan personajes.
Personajes, que deben estar obligatoriamente en cada juego de KOF

la vdd es q este juego pudo aver sido mucho mejor, pudo aver desbancado al superstreet fighter IV pero la cagaron....¬¬
son solo puros buenos graficos...de ahi en fuera no vale verga...ademas modificaron el cuerpo de muchos personajes radicalmente...me gustaron los cambios de outfit, pero sigue sin ser suficiente..u.u

Las animaciones se ven excelentes, al igual que los efectos pero el diseño de la pantalla esta horrible; las barras de energía (HP y SP) estorban y no puedes apreciar la acción al 100%.

se ve q no has jugado sf4 mucho, si no es que lo haz jugado por lo menos, admito que sf3:3rd es el mejor sf y el mejor juego de peleas 2d, (no alegatas por favor) pero sf$ eta lejos de ser sf2 en 3d, es mas bien una mezcla de 3rdstrike y ssf2turbo. Y si vamos a esas, todos lo juegos de peleas 2d son sf2 con combos o bonitos graficos, o diferentes personajes. las reglas que hacen a sf2 un juego profundo y competitivo, footsie, zoning, mixing, todo aplica para cualquier juego...

A mí me vale gorro lo que digan, simplemente no me gusta que hagan comparaciones de KoF con Street Fighter. Si a comparaciones vamos el SF IV solo tiene un contraataque y un par de especiales, no puedes hacer buenos combos, o largos, por el contrario en KoF sí se puede mientras tu imaginación y habilidad te lo permita. SF tiene lo suyo así como KoF, no salgan con tonterías.

en juegos komo Tekken, SF y la mayoria de naruto y DB son jeugos donde los kombos estan predefinidos por komandos obligatorios. en kof no... muchas veces dependes mas de kuanto dura un personaje en reaccionar de un golpe a kuantos golpes puedes dar acertando una sekuencia. bien por legaspi
