Dan I don't like some vege's but when I change the texture of that vege it's not not bad. Y does food taste different if u bite it raw or blend or chop it up? I have the opposite situation of the fellow your addressing this video to. I don't much care for eating, it's nothing more than an inconvenience to me. I eat because I have to. I'm not saying that I don't enjoy the taste of food at times. I will say that eating healthier makes it more enjoyable. And if I got a divorce, I would be much happier not depressed! I know this because we already went thru a separation and I was much happier then. Peace!
you are awesome! its fun to watch you! we all have our addictions...even emotional addictons......have you watched- what the bleep do we know? is amazing:)
I'm not sure if you've answered this in another video, but what is your recommendation regarding mixing fruits with other foods. I have heard many times that fruit should be eaten on its own, but I have never hear the reasoning behind this. I personally love mixing fruits into salads and juices, but I am trying to be more conscious of eating fruits on their own. I'd be interested in hearing your take on this matter. Thank you, I really enjoy your videos.
@cashola1000 What I've heard about that issue is that if you eat fruits after a meal, it will sit on top of the food in your stomach and ferment and putrefy. Because fruits are mostly water (90%) and fiber, it stays only about 30 minutes in the stomach (fiber are digested in the large intestine). So if you eat a meal before eating a fruit, you basically "force" the fruit to stay longer in the stomach.
But it's fruit and gives you energy to last throughout the day. If you're raw vegan, those calories you get from a bananafest doesn't mean anything but getting you the energy your body uses best. If you weigh it down with 4 slices of bread at lunch with peanut butter (or what have you), a snack in between and a big supper. Then the weight will pack on. Plus the sugar in bananas is easily broken down by the body. Not like the refined sugars you find in stores :).
I think I'm addicted to the sugar problem, cause I crave it sometimes.. when I eat it I binge! I'm not obese or anything, but it feels so good, yet soo wrong .. afterwards... nasty
A good transition from a sugar addiction that work for me, was no matter what sugar I was craving, I would eat 72% dark chocolate. At first I would eat as much as I wanted. Nearly a whole bar, then I naturally worked down to half a bar, and I wouldn't fluctuate depending on what my body "needed" that day. After while(I am talking over 8 months, haha) I was down to only 1/4 chocolate bar, and sometimes 1/3- then eventually one square would send me to bliss. The key is, feel every bite. Savor.
To the guy who is challenged with "the food addiction." Try going to an Overeaters Anonymous phone meeting while eating really green - green juices like you create on the vids, green algae, wheatgrass (maybe later on). What I found is that the cravings went away IMMEDIATELY!!!! I am talking day 2! And I had serious issues. I also use the phone meetings for extra community support. You don't have to go 100% juice or raw. Try 50%, 50%. You will see.
Hey Dan, love the videos. Wanted to ask for recipes with flax seeds, nuts and oils. You recommend them but I have not seen any videos with recipes that include them.
every mornin' i juice carrots n its my own personal thang that makes me feel like im giving my body pure bliss!!!!! dan i dig ya.. im n love over here!
I have enjoyed your videos and am employing some of your principles into my lifestyle, Have a question What is it with onions & Garlic? When i eat them i get so sleepy my heart races and i have to take a power nap to get over it. I know in Hundi cultures they reframe from onions & garlic in diet. do you know anything about this that you can pass along? i am 100# overweight & 57 It is my hope to have this weight gone by 2011 . thank you for sharing your journey, Love and Light, Fancydnails

Very well put. Glad to see someone preach about the negative health dangers of fast food. That food is more detrimental to ones health than some street drugs are. I quit eating fast food junk years ago. If I was to try to force some fast food down, I would not be able to keep it down. If fast food was the only food on earth, we would all starve to our death.
Once again, I feel like every time I have an obstacle, you make a video about it that helps me pull through. You obviously show some experience because you put into words what I'm trying to figure out about my raw food journey. Thanks again. You rock man!
@Luciek69 everyone used psychology in their own unique way to help themselves. You just have to find w/e works for you and use it to help yourself -- whether it be YOUR problem or THE problem
I just saw a lovely little video about a lady who's been carrying around a cheeseburger and fries from McDonald's for four years and they haven't rotted yet.
Another guy on YouTube is now doing an experiment with Wendy's and BK to see if the same thing will happen. Gross.
That was a wake-up call. What the heck is it doing in our bodies?
You just have to type in the YouTube address before that.
I've heard similar stories. I heard a story a long time ago, about a guy who put a McDonald's burger in his jacket pocket, forgot about it, then when he finally took it out a year later, there it was hardened but not rotted at all.
@tygersflowerz lol, ye even the microorganism and bacteria don't want any of that shit, pardon my language but that's exactly what it is, except even worse.
I like the sea salt too. The body needs salt to retain water as long as it's not over done. A little bit of salt and a whole lot of water will keep you hydrated for a great workout!
Not to mention, think how cool it is to eat food that's not in a box branded by some profit hungry corporation, only a small sticker with the logo from a small organic farm that produces foods with integrity.
D-man, I am really sorry to see one of my stalkers (tropicalrainstorm ) has followed me here (probably because I clicked favorite to this food video) has come here to harass me in your public thread. This person has been blocked from my account & the only way to get their negative energy out is to follow me places. I'm very sorry it had to happen here and hope the comments are removed or not taken seriously. I understand they are displacing their own demons & don't take anything said seriously.
Being mindfull instead of mindless is great advice. To sit and be aware and appreciate the nourishment before us is sometimes overlooked in our haste. Like the idea of sitting down to one food and taking in thee smells, colors, and unique taste which that one food provides. If that doesn't make you gratefull! A divine experience Dan! ~Peace~
Excellent advice about eating one fruit all day, even for a few days. I did that with watermelon (which I LOVE) and I haven't been able to replace the satisfaction I obtained from that with anything since - not chocolate, not anything. Yes, some things taste better than watermelon like chocolate, but the way I feel after eating a lot of anything manmade doesn't compare to how I felt on watermelon so now my body has learned to desire something it can only obtain from natural foods.
I am not totally raw but i am a vegan Rastawomen and i must say you are my motivation everytime i eat....i think about eating raw and i do try. I am still looking for a balance between exercising and working two jobs. I think i need some raw receipes.
I love/respect all your videos Dan but this one just might have to be my favorite as it speaks to me deeply. You seriously have this one in the bag... depersonalizing and separating oneself from addiction = key, as does creating new pathways and fruit meditation is always healing too. I never thought of it like everytime I engaged in bingeing/purging I've created another pathway to remain hooked, then I wonder why I still deal with a hot mess of bulimia/extreme food addiction. What a wake up!!!
So it all boils down the the kniddy griddy... when one engages in detrimental addictive thinking and behaviors, they are basically welcoming it into their home - aka their mind and body - It's like placing a big welcome mat at the door and opening it with arms wide open. And YES people do become attached to these addictions no matter what the drug of choice is. Addiction is addiction, bottom line. Great tips for remaining PRESENT Dan. ps. I have been wondering, when is your birthday? sign?
