What the commentator fails to mention here is that these iconic pants ARE SHORTENED;they were given to Iggy Pop, who took them to a tailor and shortened the legs on them so Iggy could wear them! The Ig wore them many times on stage.

They faded quite a bit and the leather got pretty fucked up because, well, Iggy is notorious for being rough on stuff, not taking care of things he owns. Personally, I think it's almost sacrilege that Iggy had them altered, and folks need to know he did this so they don't get the idea that Jim's legs are disproportionally short for a man his height. This is how IGGY is proportioned, not Jim.

It looks like "oval circles", I don't know how else to describe it.
