  • Why is it called "Kookaburra"?

  • James 1:17

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

    Maybe?

  • ... that song just hit me like a ton of bricks, just amazing.

  • I was going to listen to some John Butler Trio right now and since B is next to V on my keyboard I misspelled it and came across John Vanderslice... what a lucky person I am

  • 1:35 fuck ya!

  • i sorta think that JV is referring to: 117 is (roughly) the number of elements on the periodic table - indicating that electro-magnetic forces underly *everything* that exists in the universe.

  • yea, I always assumed it was about 9/11. lightning made you and me (Miller–Urey experiment, electricity's role in the origin of life), gives us technology to enjoy (terabyte) but also to destroy (war, airplanes to crash, etc).. 117 could possibly be reference to 1/17/91 when Operation Desert Storm began or maybe Flight 117,a hijacked plane from 91, or even an F-117 stealth fighter.

    regardless, it's an awesome song!

  • It is about 9/11. Chysler Towers dissapeared by the ruble....the tree and bird terms symbolize life.

  • This song's cool.

  • what is "117" a reference to?

  • Could be Route 117, runs East to West through Massachusetts. He played some gigs here, so would make sense.

  • great shit!!!!

  • yeah, i know eh? :) i love him

  • ewelyn!
