This is exactly why all rescues should have to be licensed. They should only be allowed to take in horses if they are a no-kill shelter.If they want to kill horses by injection then maybe the horses can be bought at the kill sales and put down "humanely" at the sale site. Until there is some sort of regulation this will continue. Thanks for posting this info.

no horse should be put down unless very ill or a vet problem not just cuas of bad anger it dosnt make sence anger problems (horse they get killed without any last words) people well they get concilers dont they so what gives them the right to decide if the horses live or die its MURDER

there is a 'rescue" in central oregon called "hooves and halos" They do the same thing!!!!!!! They buy wild mares and foals from horse auctions only to euthanize the mares- but keep the babies- WHY??? They say the mares are WILD- DUH-thats what you get fron a wild horse sale!!! WHY are they BUYING horses anyway--? If they don't have the resources to let wild horses live out thier lives in the pasture- or train them- they shouldnt buy them!!!! Thats a animal hoarder disguised as a "rescue" -shame

All the horses they killed were what Days End thought were "un-adoptable" and Days End thought that they weren't ever going to find a home, so instead of doing the right thing and letting them become permanent Days End residents, they killed them. The horses that died had many options available to them, but Days End took the easy and irresponsible way out and euthanized them all :'(

Well if a horse is in pain and it cant be fixed I think the right thing to do would be to put it out of its missery,its not fair to keep it alive and in pain because you want to take of a horse (not saying that YOU do just talking about in general) and this place takes in wild ponies?? thats sick if there gonna do that then turn around and put them to sleep for no good reason..they need to be closed

Yep. This rescue is very, very bad at handling chincoteague ponies. After Maggie I hope they never attempt to "rescue" another Chinco pony. If they do, they better treat that pony like effing ROYALTY. Poor Maggie... and Marbles and YaYa and... *sigh* too many to count...

sorry I accidentally deleted your other comment... No, the owner did not know that their horse was put down. They were never told. But when I started this protest, they found out the hard way... They woke up and saw this protest circulating around the internet. You can only imagine how crushed they were when they found out their pony was dead. :( The "rescue" never even apologized for not telling them :( And the girl, actually a 20yo lol, fell off and Maggie accidentally stepped on her ankle.

I can not believe that this is happening! I sat here with my daughter who is 7 years old and we both cried our eyes out!! This is completely unfair and I am so incredibly sad for the horses but also unbelievably angry!!! I am currently adopting 14 horses from a rescue near to where I live and the standards there are soo high that I just assumed that all rescues were like that. These people should have to answer for the actions that they take. If there is anything that can be done let me know!!!

Hi! I know, it is completely irresponsible for a "rescue" such as Days End to give up their own horses. There were many options for Maggie, and Days End just didn't care.

The worst part is, Days End isn't even paying attention to this protest, they are pretending like nothing is happening, but I know it is effecting them, they have a youtube account and ALL of their videos have low ratings. I am still wondering why they are on YouTube since no one on here likes them or their poorly made videos.

You are always welcome to email Days End and tell them your personal thoughts. I hardly doubt they will respond since they are very rude and arrogant like that.

If they do reply to you, they will send you their list of excuses and reasons of why it had to be done...stupid nonsense. They are pro-slaughter, so they completely support the slaughter of horses for human consumption in foreign countries. Which is a shame. I'm surprised they do not euthanize more horses since they support slaughter.

Thank you for your comment :) One of Maggie's owners was a 14yo girl like me, and she was devastated when Maggie died. Days End never told her that Maggie was going to die. Thankfully I do not work with this "rescue" anymore. I work with a GREAT anti-slaughter rescue that has the CUTEST horses :) Thanks again for the comment! Happy Thanksgiving! :D

thanks lol! I did start a website a while back... and people offered to take Mountain and Gatsby- the two horses DEFHR feels are unadoptable, and aren't worth keeping alive. No one knows of they are even still alive. Maggie, Marbles, Yaya...and many more..are already dead :( Thanks for the offer though!! :D My friend in Iowa offered to take Mountain and Gatsby...and I can only hope they do.

If they ARE going to euthanize the horses, they should at least THINK about the horses they euthanize. EX: LAYLA! Why the hell is she still alive?! She is more dangerous than Maggie, Marbles and YaYa put together. She's unpredictable on the ground AND in the saddle! Taylor's ankle will get better, Caitlin's collar bone is STILL BROKEN!!! Not to mention she was traumatized after the incident occured But yeah, it is very stupid :'(

Yeah, you mine as well just not take them and let them go to another rescue instead of *trying* to help them and then saying "oh, we can't help it" and then putting it to sleep. Marbles was such a sweet horse! I loved him, he was in little to no pain and could still function like a normal horse. Maggie was WILD. She didn't know any better in the first place, at least put some time into the horse before you decide you can't do anything about it's dispostion! She wasn't even mean, only scared.

Marbles- OMFG! That horse was in SOO much pain? Yeah RIGHT! If he can gallop in the field, I'd say he's not in that much pain! You know, DEFHR said that they would keep Maggie as a companion horse only, they would put her back up for adoption...they also said that they would get a trainer to work with her in the fall.
