actually if you won't a real good electric violin like his they cost atleast $5000. just the average acoustic ones coast about $3000. I'd now I've been playing long time.

actually an average acousitic violin is a student violin which will run you anywhere from a couple hundred if you aren't too picky to anywhere from $700 and up if you are. If you want a concert violin, well now you are looking at $2000 plus

You can order a violin with or without frets. I'm sure he's got them all... And he does rock on acoustic violins too. Thank God for musicians pushing the envelope though!

Mark came to my city yesterday to play with some local school strings players, and he blew our heads off... it was such an amazing performance, and he promoted musical education too.

When he was finished, everyone was so amazed, we started applauding and chanting "one more song" so he came back out and basically played this for us. He did Iron Man, Smoke on the Water, Halloween, and tons of other awesome songs.

This video is what made me want to go see him, and I'll never forget it.

Personally, I believe he's trying to make the violin sound too much like a guitar. I say if you want to hear a REAL electric violinist then look up Emilie Autumn. I'm sorry for saying this, but if he wants to play guitar, then he should play the guitar, not TRY (unsuccessivly) to make another instrument sound like it.

The guitar was originally used classically, just like the violin. Now, we have electric guitars and violins, because people and music EVOLVE just like anything else.

He may be a bit on the "popular" side of things, but from watching a few movies on youtube, he seems to inspire a lot of young kids into playing music. He seems to visit a lot of high schools and getting kids to express themselves. Not a bad thing.

Not much. He doesn't use too much in his more typical setup; a wah-wah and distortion pedal, maybe a Tonelab and a little reverb. What makes it sound so good is his technique and the pick-ups in his violin; they're handmade and built right inside the bridge so there's a direct sound conduction using a double piezo system. He's on the internet.
