  • U GO GIRL!!

  • Nice work. Cute too.

  • A great video. The beauty that Heavenly Father has given us, if only take the time to see it. Not long ago, I drove through the Rocky Mtns. Going to be on a 15 day adventure, back packing there, then to Bryce and Zion Canyon in Utah. If all goes good, the to the Grand Canyon next year. Take care and thanks for sharing.

  • shouldnt hike the grandcanyon during the summer. bad idea. but good video. Hiked it in the winter a couple years back, much nicer and cooler. I brought 2 canteens and a camelback and only drank the camelback.

  • Wow, I tip my hat to you, solo trekking in such a place takes a lot of strength on many levels—here's to you—the brave and beautiful.

    With admiration from Berkeley, CA

  • I'm very glad you posted this. A lot of the time journeys like this are kept stored in the mind... but you shared it. Thank you. Btw you're good looking too. Lmao

  • I'm doing the Hermit Trail this weekend to Hermit Rapids. I had heard that it was an easy trail, but some of the reading that I'm doing now is making me question that. The hike down and the hike up are both about 7.5 miles. I'm planning on bringing my 3 litre bladder and an empty 1 litre bottle so that I have some extra water for the hike back up. I've never drained my 3 litre, but it's supposed to be about 80F on Sunday for the beginning of my hike back up. Guess I'd better start early!

  • Wow! Great video, thanks for sharing it with us.

  • i think Grand Canyon is the most beautiful place in the world, I hope Ii will see it as soon as possible

  • Very nice video! I wouldn't hike the hermit without caching water. Glad you made it out!

  • I hiked this trail many times. Also I hiked over to Dripping Springs as a cool day hike.

  • I've spent over 175 nights below the rim, hiking there ever year since 1975. Your video is one of my favorites. Keep enjoying the Canyon.

  • Great Vid.! I would like to one day backpack the Grand Canyon. Congrats on being able to hike 21 miles of the canyon! Alone! I will be subscribing. Check out my channel and vids.

  • @Ekulytes @canyonmikehill52 @Chiyo1967 et al. Thank you all for the very kind comments!

I've hiked Death Valley, the Badlands, Cathedral Rock in Sedona, Mount Washington in New Hampshire and Mount Magazine and Petit Jean in Arkansas, within the last few years -- all solo except Death Valley. Too, I have video of my time running in the Running of the Bulls/San Fermin in Pamplona, Spain.

The videos have just been sitting around on my laptop ... hope to put something together soon.

  • Great Video!

    Love this ...

  • I would like to hike the Hermit Trail.

  • Wow, Awesome, I have hiked the North Kaibab, South Kaibab and the Broght Angel Trails. When I go back to the Grand Canyon I would like to hike the Hermit Trail.

  • Wow, amazing! I have hiked the Bright Angel, North Kaibab and the South Kaibab. I want to hike the Hermit Trail next. I have been to the Grand Canyon three times It is awesome!

  • ive only hiked the first 5 miles of this trail. Looks like fun.

  • grand canyon is the greatest place ever

  • How did Stanley Die? Sorry to hear.

  • Hikers, you have to recognize the hazards of a salt and cooked food diet when engaging this kind of extreme condition activity. raw food keeps your blood cool , processed foods make the body unable to cope with the heat as it goes into extreme and sudden detoxification that can kill you in no time. next time you hike in extreme heat eat only raw fruits and veggies with NO salted foods and see what a difference it makes. Its no fun exploring all these wonderful places sick,,,,, have fun !!!

  • @ragazzimo truly fascinating. i would like to read more about this, if you could cite the peer reviewed medical journals that you learned about this in i would greatly appreciate it. thanks so much.

  • Wow, I'm impressed. The canyon looks exactly as it did when I hiked the same trail in 2001. I too lost the trail many time and found myself climbing the up the sides to try to spot that next cairn. I trained hard for more than six months for that trip - it still wasn't enough.

  • Hey! You might want to go with your family, friends and loved ones on another outdoor activity - it's the Zero Gravity? Have you heard of it? It's in Phoenix, Arizona - and it's a must try! It's fun and exciting yet safe for your family to enjoy. Try searching atreveteinc and experience the ride of your life... Master the twists and flips - and all the stunts you can do in the Zero Gravity Machine. Fun doesn't have to be exclusively for kids - it's for all ages!

  • The footage of the landscape was breathtaking - what stark beauty!

Your journey was nothing less than amazing. I'm glad you were able find water. And, I'm glad you were able to really enjoy your pilgrimage... That's how I see your travels here. More than just a "hike" but a soul-stirring pilgrimage. :o)

    Thanks for sharing.

  • I absolutely LOVE Grand Canyon, i could Live there !! too bad ive never been to the south rim though, cuz thats where this trail is, right??

  • fab vidio.

  • great hike,az is fantastic.

  • cool hiking video! hope to see more soon...

  • that looks beautiful... we investigated on hiking in the tyrolean mountains. check out our video report :-)

  • Outstanding!

  • awsome i was just there and did 8 miles, very good video

  • real nice video.

  • we went from hermit to Bright Angel and it was 105 the day we started. My hands swelled up within the first two hours, but we eventually made it. We had encounters with 3 rattlers, but I managed to fight em off.

  • Hiking alone is not recommended! Be smart--do it with a friend...

  • Plan on hiking boucher clear creek loop in the fall. Nice video!

  • Nice video! Congrats on the hike! I plan on doing Boucher, clear creek loop in the fall.

  • 5 Start, great video!

Wow you did it on your own! I'd love to do that, but I'd defiantly go in a group just encase something went wrong ;)

I do hike videos where i live in Spain (although in somewhat of a smaller way than you lol) como and visit my channel when you get a moment, i've just started uploading my videos ;)

  • at first I thought you were saying you went down & back in one day... I'm pretty sure that would be impossible though! The hermit trail was the 1st trail i took into the canyon at age 15 with a group of others. Going it alone in that heat is just crazy. Full props.

  • Wow, hiking that far alone, going off the trail. U did well, good judgement (maybe some luck too).

I'm reading the book about all the fatalities @ the Grand Canyon and now have a healthier respect for how easy things can go wrong.

  • I just came back from the Grand Canyon, truly amazing. I didn't dare get as close to the rim as you did haha!.....especially after hearing a ranger say people fall over! yikes! We were at elevations of 7000-8000 feet! Beautiful video!!

  • Very nice. But it's not safe for dogs, the trail is too narrow.

  • Is it true that visitors often play hide and seek in the depths of the Grand Canyon?

  • Girl, you've got more courage than some guys I know that would even think o hiking this trail.....very gutsy. I hope you didn't hike it alone...NO WAY?...Did you really hike it alone?

  • You rock and only those who push the limits can understand why. I give you 5 stars.

  • Holy cow, just stumbled across this somehow. Nice video, Holden says meow ;)

  • 86 at the rim and you went down and back, that's how people die. Try hiking in the spring or fall.

  • Excellent Video, and very clear, what camera did you use? More to come I hope.. Thanks For Showing us. Paul from uk.

  • Thanks for the video - it was awesome! I did the South Rim to the Ranch, then back up last year. My wife and I also did the hike to Havasu Falls in May of 08 - both were awesome hikes.

  • thank ya very much for sharing this with us! extremely beautiful!

  • Very cool! I did Bright Angel Trail to the ranch and back a few years ago. I plan to be back and tackel this one.

  • That is really beautiful. We are going to the Grand Canyon this summer, really wish I could do that but I am an extreme novice.

  • Its indeed lovely. October seems best time to explore.

  • cool thanks

  • Excellent account of your hike down the difficult Hermit Trail. By yourself, that is a bit wild. I camped at the same spot in 2002. The trail is so remote that I felt like an early explorer. I especially liked the sandsone pavement blocks located near the top of the trail. This trail is an excellent outdoor adventure. Good luck on future hikes.

  • I love it. Just got back from a solo Boucher-Tonto-Hermit Loop myself. I give her credit for facing this type of challenge alone, particularly as a female. It changes you. I'm glad she got out O.K.

  • In the overhang above the falls..... be careful about where you put any peanut butter or rice..... The skunks figured you all out many years ago. I remember thinking one morning of what I had to do today. I couldn't think of much except rather to lather my hair next to the waterfall or to just pick the white stuff out of the mushrooms. J.L Duncan 1969.

  • oooohhh! I am impressed! I'm also sharing your vid with some friends. The 4 of us did a GC rim to rim in Sept '04 and are now planning a Sept '08 adventure. Thank you SO much for sharing!

  • Thanks for posting the video. Brings back fond memories of the Canyon. Good to see that young people are getting into the outdoors, the spirit lifting experiences and the soul searching challenges, too.

  • I backpacked to the bottom about about 20 years ago along this trail. It was still maintained then and was the toughest day I had (full pack with water). Start of a 7 day going across and then out the North Rim. Super shape at the end. Fond memories of the Hermit campsite and the pool. The Park charged no fees then and now they can't maintain the trails! What are the fees for?

  • Im glad you made it alive i wont to go to someday .I know now to take more water to.

  • You are amazing! Thanks for sharing your video. Even with running out of water you kept a 'cool' head and managed to keep yourself safe. I can only hope to do what you did in 1-2 years if I'm lucky :) (but not brave enuf anymore to go it alone!!!) Stay safe and Hike On Sister!

  • awesome, I just did the Hermit to Tonto and up The BA.

  • Wow, that's quite the accomplishment. Did you bring any tunes with you to listen to while hiking?

  • Love it. Love the video, love the music, love the girl!

You are now officially my hero!
