  • What kind of strings are on that bass? They have a flatwound yet hi-fi sound to them.

  • @MajorImpact It's a Flatwound.

  • @larzgallows

They don't sound overly dark... are they D’Addario Chromes or GHS Brite Flats by chance? Or maybe they were just new when you recorded this and weren't broken in yet?

  • @MajorImpact Yes it's a D'Addario Chromes and it was just new!

  • wow this is amazing, i love it. im a fellow drummer and i have to say i love ur kit. you should get another floor tom and be bonzo. also you should put a guitarest. and then this would just be amazing

  • you guys are tight excellant

  • bad ass

  • That is one of the best covers of this song I have found! Two years ago I was listing to this song and after i got done I went and bought a bass that same day because of this song. I am finally able to almost get it down but i cannot find a drum track for it to lay along with. Can you please upload just the drum part. I will be happy to make a donation to you! Please!

  • wow, i came

  • awesome guys

  • very good! greetings from argentina

  • You're extremely talented, friend.

  • excellent, man

  • Thanks!

  • I've always loved the bass on this. You're amazing

  • This has got to be one of the most cool Zep tunes for bass. You guys doing a great job. I never really understand all the comments about "moving" people make. Just watch Song Remains the Same or Zeppenlin DVD... Mr John Paul Jones isn't very busy with his body.

    Again... nice job guys.

  • You left out the most important thing to this song. The swing rhythm grove. You sound like a drum machine. This is because you spend your time trying to figure out how to duplicate what you hear, all the while you never really have got the "big picture" of music, so to speak. Robot music. For this song, I'm not really sure, I think its a swung 16th triplet. It don't even matter. There is a little simple thing in the song that is made by feel, and you are missing it. Its so small yet so important

  • That figures. For we Japanese, it is difficult to understand a groove almost as same as your understanding a Japanese sense to be called "MA", because we don't have those senses by nature each other. I must study it more to understand ROCK. Your opinion is right.

  • You got the studying done, well maybe, but you need to get your hands to feel your instrument. I was lucky. As a child I was like you, a note man. I thought the secret was in the notes I played, and that is partially true, but you have to get your "hands" to "feel" what you want to hear. I live where blues was born. I was lucky in that way. A blues musician straightened me out. Taught me to feel with my body and hands what my mind was hearing. Tap your foot. Dance to music. Make your hands feel.

  • The Japanese traditional music forbids it to move a body loudly. The sense of we Japanese has only the head beat. All elements are completely opposite. It is so hard to play and feel Rock for us.

  • Aww. Dangit. I know, do it when nobody is looking. Whats the harm in that? I know, its a big harm. Honor. I always have respected Japanese for there abundance of cultural and social honor. If no one is looking and you want to cheat, stand upright with your guitar. Music is in the knee most of all. Move your knee in time while the heel of your foot is going up and down. I won't tell if you don't. Good luck my friend. I know your desire. You are brilliant. Now, go write us a song please. : )

  • lol man, im gonna ask you about the drums because it sounds like out-tunned or something, and i read your comment. you are a nice player, keep on the good work, make a band....... you know, i will recognize you in some years haha

  • what do you think about THE 5 6 7 8s and whats that MA about?

  • do you think i can learn something like MA?

  • A sense of MA is near to meaning a tempo and a timing.

Rhythm has a groove in the part without the sound, but, MA, the part without the sound has nothing.

The bigining of most Japanese traditional music, there is not a count.

We begin a performance by a shout "Ha! or Yo!" all at once. There is nothing between a shout and the performance starts.

This is MA...and useless for the Rock music...

  • @larzgallows tell that to Jun6262

  • Don't need to study for it. Surround yourself with rock, blues, and jazz and feel it. you need to play with a bouncy feel

  • just wow .. i loved your bass playing.

  • SWEEEEET!

  • if i could give you 6 stars i would

  • Dude your tight! I love it!

  • good job

  • sick

  • Only 'tuber I've ever seen to get the 2:30 drum fill right. Most people are too afraid to even go near the proper version!

Although, I was looking forward to the double time sections, the drums there are f*kin' A.

  • hey, thats awsome, do u think u could shoot me those tabs

  • Thank you!.

Sorry...I'v never used the tabs, so I copied it by ear.

  • best bass the drum is more reduced or simplified Bt its good

  • Holy shit! You rule!! What drum set is that?

  • Thank you!

That is Ludwig classic maple set.

    It's not vintage though.

  • Cool, 26x14, 14x12, 16x16 14x5? Sounds amazing! I love that bass tone too, real warm and bluesy, just like JPJ.

  • Larz,..how bout makin a slowed version of the bass line,,I know alot of bassists would like that.

  • that was absolutely excellent! sounded just like john paul. and the drumming was damn good too. keep playin

  • How did you learn the bassline. By ear or by Tabs, if it was tabs, where did you get them as i would like to learn this great song

  • I'v never used the tabs.

I copied this bassline by ear though I used some software that can 1/2 speed and oct up.

    hiro

  • Good Bassman and good drummer, it's perfect

  • It took three weeks for me to learn this bass line.lol

  • buena

  • um...you rule...and nice set!
