Left handed scissors and cutting left-handed

I just bought my first pair of left handed scissors from Wal-Mart. They are Fiskars. I am so happy! I went 45 years using right handed scissors. Major ouch. My new scissors are " sheer heaven", lol! Get it? Now what else left handed can I find? Oh yeah I am looking at a left handed guitar. Don't you just HATE it when you are looking fir a left handed guitar and someone says you should learn right handed because you have more choices? Ah Duh bro. I am left handed and that is how my brain works.

when i was a child i used scissors that was supose to be both left-handed and right-handed but it still looked ugly. and i was upset because even the boys in my class could do it great but i couldn't :( but now 10 years later someone told me that it was the blades that did it!

I use my right hand to cut paper with scissors.I wish they had that when I was a kid.

yeah dont you just hate those specially contoured scissors with the thumb hole contoured THE wrong WAY for left handed use ????? used to drive me up the wall. I can use right handed if the thumb hole isnt contoured. I do have a pair of left handed scissors and I leave them lying around so right handers can see what its like .....

Most "left handed" scissors are just right handed scissors... with a different handle and held in the other hand. This makes it almost impossible to see what you're cutting and uncomfortable to cut with. The correct reverse blade scissors (shown in the video) are very rare. You wont find them in stores sadly. I'm glad this video has explained this issue as so many people don't seem to understand when you tell them as a lefty you must cut right handed.

Wow! I have always been a lefty (though my mum wanted me to write right-handed), and I have always used right handed scissors. I get exactly the same thing as the person said! I really want to try left-handed scissors now! :)

thinkg back to like 3rd grade i just thought i had horrible mototr skills and couldnt cut but it must have been the right handed scissors. that would explain hte hand sores i used to get in kindergarten

I just wanted to chime in! I'm in agreement with my left handed bretherin below. I had no problem using right handed scissors with my left hand. I didn't even know there was a problem till I saw documentaries like this. Although cutting when I was young did make my hands tired, as an adult the hands are capable of cutting paper. The only time I think my hands would still hurt with scissors is if I had to cut cardboard. You'd get tired cutting cardboard anyway, but with the left, it's sooner.

It's true that if you use the wrong hand with the wrong scissors, but i've never understood why.

I've tried to cut wrong with my right hand, and to cut right with my left hand(on right handed scissors) but the right hand always cuts and the left hand never does. it puzzles me.

when i was in school, there was never any left-handed sciossors, so i was forced to use right-handed ones. anyway, i didn't think there was that much difference -- but now looking back i realize that i was always uncomfortable (hand strains), and i couldn't get them to work sometimes if they were "loose" like everyone else could. i thought i was just bad at cutting. that wasn't the case though...

I've never had any real trouble using right handed scissors on my left hand, I guess I just got used to them.Funny thing is, my mom once bought lefty scissors by mistake, and gave them to me because she couldn't use them on her right hand.

Different scissors, maybe when you were little you got used to use this scissors in right. I'm left handed(Although I got the talent to use both hands almost the same) and I use left for most of my stuff even at work, because left is preferable over right.
