Cadence is a word, yes. A name is a word. Many peoples' names have other uses or meanings besides just a name. Cadence isn't all that unusual for a girl's name. You've never heard it as a girl's name before???? Really??? It's not as common as "Mary" for example.... anyway, why am I going on to education such a rude person.

BTW, cadence can be a musical term but it means nothing at all specific about songs of the military.
