dude, u dont need an editing software for the joker trick, the dark knight didnt use any. What they did is:

1.Joker Sticks pencil in table

2.Guy goes to joker

3.You see a shot of The Joker,the guy, and the pencil

4. Camera Goes up To the torso, only The Joker and Guy are on screen (off screen someone sitting down takes away the pencil)

5.Joker slams head down but the camera goes down with the joker showing, and the top of the guys head, so you cant tell that there was no pencil there.

the joker thing was much easier in the actual film, the camera goes up to the joker and the mob person. Somebody off camera takes the pencil away, joker slams head down, camera is a little bit behind.

In the Batman Movie Scene where the joker hits the security's head on the table, the pencil will not appear in the shot, so it could be made without a pencil sticked to the table, but this effect in the editing suite will be better to use in a movie and obviously much dramatic!

Contra Zoom is actually known in the industry as a Dolly Zoom. It was used very much by Hitchcock to give the audience a feeling of vertigo or that the world was collapsing around them.

I don't think they even bothered with the pencil cropping frame by frame. with the really quick shots and fast movement it would be really difficult for the naked eye to notice that the pencil was never in the shot where the head actually hits the table

I figured out a way myself of creating the pencil trick. Put a small hole in the table(or fake table) and then place the pencil in the hole holding it in place with blu-tack. Film it in slow motion( or normal speed) and then speed it up on the computer
