so some guy wrote that a messiah would come and heal the sick. Then a hundred years pass and noone can perform that trick. Then a guy shows up and says he can do it, supposedly does it, and becomes a legend. I've seen magicians of modern day walk on water, so give a break. I hope David Blaine's next trick is to turn water into wine. *gasp* the second coming y'all! as for the 3rd story, its not a miracle for people to survive on meager amounts of food. Call it faith, no miracles.
Miracles do happen all the time. It is a natural course of things if our own ego does not interfere. Jesus was a man who knew this truth. He knew the truth that we are ALL Gods. "Ye are Gods" he proclaimed and reiterrated that statement from our own old testament of law. Yet most of us today stil do not get this message. It was the main core message of what Jesus was teaching. No that he was to be our saviour, but that we are to save ourselves by knowing ourselves as CO-Creator demi-gods.
I think one issue that people overlook is the supernatural today. More and more proof indicates there is indeed a paranormal (and a demonic) force. The only thing that actually makes a demon leave or release a body is by calling on Jesus' name and using the word of God.
Believe what you will--history is actually fairly clear.
For the bread of God is he who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world."John 6:51
I am the living bread that came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world."
The "Enlightenment" - like "Higher Criticism" - is another diabolically ironic label. There has only been retrogression, people, not enlightenment. Don't confuse technological development with enlightenment. Reject the myth of progress. For instance, in THE U.S. ALONE, over 1 million (1,200,000), abortions are legally committed EVERY YEAR. Many more examples of disenlightenment could be provided.
Enlightenment is just freedom of thought. You can have that when your a Christian or Muslim . You have to damn near hate yourself for every thought you have thats human. Then beg some mystery god to forgive you for the thoughts he allowed you to have. Who told this god to give us the abilty to make mistakes. Why didnt he make us perfect? Religion is a joke that never seems to have a punch line. The real people are making money off you.
so freedom of thought is: free from thought. that sounds like a bad way to think....or not to think. as for the mistakes he "allowed" you to have, that is not true. we all choose to do things, it's called free will. if you choose to murder your parents that's your personal choice that you did all on your own. but free will also gives us the choice to love God and to ask for His forgiveness for the choices that we make out of that freewill.
The bible is full of miracles, Jesus coming into our world, itself was a miracle,
rising from the dead and proclaiming he would be with us literally is a miracle unfolding to this day. When people do not see that life and the whole universe itself is a miracle, then the cannot see that miracles happen every day even in their own lives because they shrug it off as good luck.
42-So will it be with the resurrection of the dead. The body that is sown is perishable, it is raised imperishable; 43-it is sown in dishonor, it is raised in glory; it is sown in weakness, it is raised in power; 44-it is sown a natural body, it is raised a spiritual body. If there is a natural body, there is also a spiritual body.
Scholars "THINK" that these stories where made up. Just another biased opinion derived from complete speculation and extrapolation. We nee to work with what we have.
The best part of this video is the quote from Matthew about John the Baptizer. He sends his followers to question Jesus if he is the one that is coming, the Messiah? John doesn't know? Really? Come on, really? Mt 3.13-17, Mk 1.9-11, Lk 3.21-22, oh and especially Jn 1.29-34.
Wasn't there a myth about contradictions in the Gospels?
John had been in jail for all of Jesus ministry, and wanted a report of what He had been doing. If he was going to be executed for preaching the truth, he wanted to make sure he hadn't placed his faith in the wrong man.
It's easy to miss the chronology of Mt. 11:2-6 because this is a flashback to an earlier time than the rest of the events in chapter 11. The purpose is to give the context of Jesus' message about John that follows in v. 7-30.
At this point, John has been dead for some time. He saw no miracles yet had asked for some good news from Jesus.
So Jesus is rebuking the crowd for having no faith even though they HAVE seen great signs and miracles.
(1)When God opens the sky and tells John that Jesus is his beloved son (Mt 3.17), I have trouble believing that John would want to make sure he hadn't misplaced his faith. In every baptism account, John either already knows or is enlightened to the divinity of Jesus, Jesus as the Son of God.
So yes, it is shocking that after Jesus begins his ministry, John grows curious about who Jesus is.
The prophecy was fulfilled, "All of us like sheep have gone astray, Each of us has turned to his own way; But the LORD has caused the iniquity of us all To fall on Him" (Isaiah 53:6).
John was a prophet, but he was a fallible human being like you or I.
(2)John was being executed because he had spoken up against Herod Antipas (Mt 14.3-4). No where in the Gospels does John get imprisoned because he testified for Jesus, which is what I suppose you mean by "the truth."
He was imprisoned for preaching the Law of God and the need for repentance. John's ministry was as a forerunner to Jesus. He was the greatest prophet in history. But he did not have the full revelation of the New Covenant. This was not given until after Pentecost.
Wow...why do u find it so hard..The Israelites crossed the red sea on dry land with water on both sides as "Walls"...They had a pillar of light to show them the way at night...nonetheless they have placed their faith in a golden calf...an egyptian idol...the same idol that couldn't protect pharoh.
Like I said to "3lectricchild" No one has proven it does or does not exist. Some have shown there's a lack of evidence that it does, others have attempted to refute that evidence. You have made a very good case. In a descent court room, my guess is that you would definitely get another round. In the end no one will have proven anything. They will merely have shown sufficient or insufficient evidence of what "probably is, or isn't".
the reason i don't believe in miracles is because they defy the laws of physics, my proof behind miracles not existing is years of scientific study by countless scholars and geniuses who's intellects far outweigh your own. your proof of miracles is a single book written hundreds of years ago, how arrogant can you get?
"how arrogant can you get?" I think it's pretty arrogant to believe that since you have shown a lack of evidence, that something exists, you then assume that you have "proven" it doesn't exist. All you have proven is that there is a lack of evidence to support it's, "existence". In many cases I doubt you would ever be able to prove something doesn't exist. Again, you can only prove there is not enough evidence to show that it does exist. Lawyers know this well.
For example: If you were a lawyer and someone testified that a certain thing happened and you wanted to show it didn't, to actually prove it didn't happen would be, just about impossible. It's always easier to show a "lack of evidence" that it DID happen. But, that's ALL you have proven. There's a "lack of evidence" that it did happen. This is one of the first principles real scientists learn.
Please educate me more and show me where Jesus states without question "I AM GOD!". Not "I AM" not "I will sit at the right of the father" or anything other than "I AM GOD!". Why the mystery, if he came to be known as God? So more people would doubt and burn in eternal hell?
Jesus sent out these twelve after instructing them thus, "Do not go into pagan territory or enter a Samaritan town. Go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel. As you go, make this proclamation: 'The kingdom of heaven is at hand.' cure the sick, RAISE THE DEAD, cleanse lepers, drive out demons. Without cost you have received; without cost you are to give.
-Mat 10:5-8
Did the Apostles ever raise any dead men or women as Jesus instructed them to do?
This is typical of the average skeptic. You've read a lot of books "refuting" the Bible and claiming to show "contradictions" (these false claims are legion) but you haven't read the Book itself!
One of the reasons you give for believing Jesus to be god is that he raised the dead. However, Peter, who is not God did the same thing. If you say Jesus (God) gave him the authority without making him God, couldn't the same be said about Jesus' abilities? Again one of your reasons for believing Jesus to be God has been shot out of the water.
