I wonder did they have to donate anything over $75,000 for tournament wins, being this was taped AT CBS, and this was syndicated, or did they keep all the money.
I was watching an episode today in which Debbie first was on the show (competing against Al Rosalez---sp???), and end up winning $5,000 in a 21-21 tie situation, at the last second. She was CONFIDENT and AMAZING, even though she did not go to the top on her first day. What was sweet about the $5,000 win, was that Al got up and gave her a hug...great sportsmanship. After seeing her today, I am glad she won...very confident lady
I always find it funny that the person giving the clues out during the winner's circle round are allowed to shake their heads. Wouldn't that be considered cheating???
I started watching "Pyramid" in the 80s, and they allowed nodding/shaking. In the 2002 version, I think they even allowed the clue giver to say "Yes" or "No" as well. You should see the episodes from the 70s--way more forgiving about your hands, and even the answers they accepted...
In general, no. When the clue giver (mainly the celebrity player) nods his or her head as a "yes", it indicates that the contestant receiving the clues is on the right track and is close to getting the answer right. A shaking head (indicating "no") means the opposite.
I don't blame you. I miss this show terribly also. However, I learned that GSN has brought back the $25,000 and $100,000 shows, a few eps at a time. So, in a way, it is starting to come back.
The Debbie's win reaction was priceless!! She screamed, then she got up from her chair for like a second, then she collapses back into her seat in total disbelief. LOVED it!!
Ah, an old-school fan. If this later Bob Cobert theme weren't so obviously modeled on the old Ken Aldin one (and I like both), it might get more props. My only wish is that someone had a stereo copy of the Cobert theme, instead of the mono version on the first Game Show Themes CD.
In the first WC of that episode, they had Things that are SYNDICATED. That one is a monster subject.

Like I was going to remember the first 2, but I thought name that tune paid the money in annuity?

$100,000 Pyramid was the 1st game show to offer $100,000 in cash as a top prize.
tpir1972 1 month ago
@tpir1972 No it wasn't; "The Big Surprise" in the 1950s, "100 Grand" in the 1960s, "Name That Tune" in the 1970s.

VIOLENT, thank god for all that time, they needed it.

I'm watching and recording this on my DVR right now!
Pity GSN won't air this regularly again. They should come to their senses and take poker away and leave that to the other networks.

GSN's airing a New Year's Eve marathon consisting of this show for Dick, like they did last year.

I love the win reaction. Markie and Debbie really put their minds together in the winners circle, and on names (tough category)

Keif Ferrindini's reaction was also priceless! Just think $100,000 was alot to win back then.

Yes, that and the $25,000 version of the show as well in the 80s. I also like Donny Osmond's version (from 2002-04). Did you like that one?

Debbie Sepian if i spelled it correctly last week before the tournament had a lot of trouble getting clues prior to, but pulled it off nicely

True, the play was better in these days -- but you gotta admit, the original theme was better!
