thanks for the informative and empathetic video. I'd just have one correction that Kibo (the main elephant in the video) is a boy. I think maybe for people who love elephants it's challenging to hear "trainer" or "handler" b/c they're associated with circuses or zoos (and have negative connotations). however, the reporter learned the term, keeper, quickly. in other ways the reporter appeared very informed about DSWT and elephant behavior and asked intelligent questions.
I think the trainer slip was not a big deal! It was an easy mistake to make and he didnt do it to hurt anyone his knowing so much about the rescue shows that!!! Besides Edwin who is very easy going fixed it. THANK YOU for getting the word out about rescue and these amazing people!!!
These men are wonderful and the Trust has saved so many baby elephants! As was pointed out in the video the babies would be dead if not for the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust. Heroes, each and every one!
Your apology is excepted by me, yes we have all miss spoken and not used the right choice of words. I am sure that because you are from a country that has MANY elephant trainers it was easy to make that mistake.
So harsh, such anger over a momentary mental lapse in my search for the right word. I knew as soon as I said trainer it wasn't correct, but we immediately got it right and moved on to the important issues of the work the Trust is doing. By the way that work is featured in a 26 page spread in NG Magazine in Sept. I congratulate you if you've never unintentionally misspoken. Even parents, at least all I know, have at sometime called their kids by the wrong name. Hardly a WTF moment.
@bmatson3 It was a mistake and easily forgiven. Some people chose to judge and condemn instead of accepting that a mistake was made. The important issue here is not wording but the Trust and the work they do. The mistake was rectified quickly. Those who have issues with it need to get a grip! Thank you for a wonderful look at this amazing organization and the people there.
@cambridgeratmom You yourself could use a more educated choice of words if you're offended by something. "WTF" and more than one questionmark makes you seem quite ineloquent. You should be embarrassed to have posted such a useless, anal, judgemental comment under a video that should show people what is important and what not.

Elephant trainer????? WTF? Did you do any research before you went to the DSWT? You should be embarrassed by your uneducated choice of words.
