When you listen closely, you hear Ireland in a lot of Appalachian Music

The temperance reel, or teetotalers reel, is an Irish tune that's still common in Ireland. So it's no wonder you hear Irish here.

There are several old Irish tunes to be found here, but the style in general seems to take more after Scottish.
