Although I admire her and am reading her book, I am very surprised by Mary Tillman's overall response.

She continues to write as if these governmental officials are just being dishonest because they're embarrassed about things like poor judgment. It's clear to me that it's far uglier than that.

And then through her further inquiry, she continues to demand honesty from the establishment, something these people clearly aren't interested in partaking in.

I don't mean to be critical of such a great person, but she states that Pat opposed the criminal occupation of Iraq and would most likely have been very vocal about that upon his discharge. It would have been very, very embarrassing and damaging to the government to have their most visible proponet of their agenda come out against it upon his release from service.

By killing Pat they not only shut him up, they then co-opted his death as a part of the war effort.

I hate to be critical of this terrific lady but she herself admits that Pat was opposed to the illegal occupation of Iraq by the US. The gvt must have known this and knew when he was discharged he most likely would have been vocal about this and it would have been very, very embarrassing for the gvt's biggest posterboy for the war coming back critical of the war efforts.

So Pat's death not only prevented that impending PR nightmare, it was also then co-opted as psych propaganda for the war

It was more like 30 yards and the reason the 3 shots were so close together is because they were from a SAW gun which fired the 3 shots very quickly. When the medical examiner made the remark about the 10 yards he didn't know that a SAW was the gun that killed him.

Page 291 of Krakauer's book states "on the night of April 23rd, Sgt James Valdez testified, a captain named Wade Bovard 'came to me with an orange plastic bag containing Tillman's clothes. He then related that he wanted me to burn what was in the bag for security purposes. Additionally, Captain Bovard related he wanted me alone to burn what was in the bag to prevent security violations, leaks, and rumors.'"

The reason they burned the clothes was to cover up that it was a fratricide. Friendly fire is almost always at least passively covered up by the army because it is so bad for moral and in Tillman's case it would have been especially bad for the administration if it came out because he was their poster boy. If people knew that his death was not even at the hands of the enemy public opinion would be affected.

It's no secret that the U.S. has been making it's place in the world as a fascist theocracy for more than 20 years, and logically the fact that Tillman was an Atheist, made him a enemy within the ranks. Christian nutcases would misinterpret Pat's execution as a sacrifice for their God and they have an unlimited amount of money to pump out more yellow journalism, like this funny book you are quoting.

The man who made that comment was not even present at the time of Tillman's death. HIs name is Lt. Col. Ralph Kauzlarich, he performed the second friendly fire investigation. No, the fact that Tillman was an atheist does not "logically" mean that he was an "enemy within the ranks" in the eyes of his fellow soldiers.

BTW Jon Krakauer is not a Christian and does not approve of neoconservative politics which is clear in his books. I don't know WTF you're on about.

Page 317 is where Dr Mallak (the medical examiner) says "I've asked everybody in the office if they thought they could [shoot] a cluster that closely together of 3 rounds from an M16 - a 3 round burst from 100 yards, from 50 yards - and everybody said no." This shows that he was under the impression that the bullets came from an M16 when in fact the M16 and the SAW use the same ammunition.

a short time ago, upon hearing tillmans name, anyone who knew of him would think "oh my , what a great football player" or "how great is it that he had the courage to serve our country".

Pat Tillman had three bullet holes to the forehead in close proximity from an M-16 according to the coroner. That means he was murdered by the Special Operations Ranger detachment that was sent after him. Why murder? Because at the distance the Pentagon claims Tillman was shot from, after the first round hit his head, the second and third rounds (we have to assume here that the murder weapon was firing automatic, which means three shots) would not have been in such close proximity...

...with the first round. The only way Tillman's wounds make any sense is if the weapon used was on automatic (one depression of the trigger on an M-16 on automatic mode results in three bullets fired) and discharged at close range.
