@cpaquin11 I saw him in his prime. Yes, he was strong. Cyplenkov is not in his prime yet. Also, Dennis has probably the lousiest technique and armwrestling skill on the planet. Once he figures it out, he will be the greatest of all time. Wait til he reaches his prime. He is only 25.
You don't know anything about this sport. Judging by your name, you're just a fanboy. I can rattle off names of people who will always be better than Cyp.
Denis doesn't use much technique at all to be honest. Left and right, he generally just relies on pure brute strength a.k.a side pressure in arm wrestling, and lately that has done the job.
Will it work against Travis lefty? I think it will providing Denis can survive Travis's hit.
Does anyone know the other guy? First I thought rich was up against cleve dean but im not sure...(if rich beat cleve that easy, he must have been IMMENSELY strong)
No that wasn't Cleve Dean. I have no idea who it was but it def. wasn't Cleve Dean. You do realize that Lupkes was (and still is) ne of the best armwrestlers in the world, right?
...
What I'm wondering is, wtf was that ref doing with the stick and that guy's butt?
I know, it was hilarious to watch the guy's butt getting poked by a stick LOL
If time machine is ever to be made, the first thing I would do is to bring Lupkes in the late 80's to now. I really want to see what would have been like, him vs guys like cyplenkov and voevoda! as John Brzenk says he was "the strongest arm he ever gripped up against"
do u think he still stands a chance against cyplenkov now in age 52?
I don't know. He trtured to armwrestling in February 2008, after 18 years off, and at the tournament he went to he beat John Brzenk and took 1st place. John had competed in another tournament the previous day so he wasn't at full strength, and it took Lupkes a long time to get him down that's still amazing. Assuming Lupkes plans to stay in for a while, and is training, he is probably on par with Brzenk (though he weighs 80 lbs more). Him and Cyplenkov with the right hand would be close, IMHO.
I meant to say he returned in 2008. It sounds like the crown is chanting "Orno". Maybe that's the other guys name? I think Cyplenkov would beat anybody with the left hand, except maybe Bagent. The best in the world (taking both hands into consideration, but not weight) would be (IMHO) Brzenk, Bagent, Larratt, Lupkes, Cyplenkov. Maybe Dave Randall, too. I saw him destroy Bath in a video.
Cyplenkov would win if he doesn't let Bagent flop his wrist back and force the match inside to a deep hook I think.
It'll be fun to have a tourney where JUST the BEST super heavies you mentioned come and go at it!!! I think John would take it since he is an undisputed legend, but every single fight would be a HELL of a sight for those who know arm wrestling.
by the way do u know if Lupkes is going to WAF Worlds in Canada?
Somebody told me that he is going to the Unified Nationals in Sale Lake City. If he places top 3 he will be able to go to world's, and I can't see 3 people beating him. Only Brzenk in the U.S. can, I believe.
I don't think Cyplenkov will lose to Bagent if he LETS his wrist get flopped back. I think he'll lose if Bagent FORCES his hand back and Cyplenkov can't get it in a hook. Also Travis has a lot of speed, more than Pushkar and Pushkar got Cyplenkov 1/2 way down before Cyplenkov caught him.
you're right. I was wrong choosing the right words. If Bagent toprolls Cyplenkov, that will mean it's stronger than Cyplenkov's hook and if Cyplenkov does hook Bagnet, that'll mean his wirst curling strength is stronger than Bagnet's rotational strength(toproll).
I also agree that Travis's speed right off the start is dangerous for Cyplenkov, judging by his current pulling style - waits till the other guy hits into him, then uses his full strength to take the guy down.
@khalsasikh but Gary also defeated Brzenk and Brzenk defeat Denis lol And Lupkes defeated Gary more times than Gary defeted him. But yeah, we will never know
@kaigreg Yeah, but Dennis beat Todd the next several times. That wasn't the first time Dennis lost right handed. He still won the competition. Richard put up a good fight because Dennis still has HORRIBLE technique. Lupkes is a very skilled armwrestler with over 30 years experience and is still almost as powerful as ever. Dennis STILL overpowered Lupkes with pure strength. Once Dennis gets his technique down, he will be invincible.
Uh, what planet are you on? Lupkes met Cyp when Lupkes was in HIS MID-50s at the Arnold. Cyp *barely* won after 3 slips. In his prime, Lupkes would have absolutely smoked Cyp. Go away.
what's ref doing with that stick at that's men but ?!

Does anyone have any more footage of Lupkes versus Dean, Goodridge, Brzenk, Walker, or Arciero? Would pay for it.

Beside Brzenk, I think Randall would give a fair match to Lupkes. (LOL) Who do you think will win?
entelodont326 3 years ago
He would have to be in his prime to stand a chance with Cyplenkov, right handed that is. Left, no way. At 52.........nfc!
khalsasikh 3 years ago 5
@khalsasikh lol, on his prime he would defeat Cyplenkov right handed easily, i think.

@Feon2 LOL! Yeah, sure. There is no way he could beat Cyplenkov. Gary Goodridge beat this guy very easily.

@khalsasikh How do you know he doesn't use much technique? But nonetheless I think Devon would stand a very good chance.

@khalsasikh Well, at 54 he gave Cyplenkov an absolute eye opener at the Arnolds, almost rolled his hand until Cyplenkov broke grip. Awesome match!
