Very good singing, Shania Twain is a very great looking singer, Anne is just a great singer. I think this may be one of Shania's most brilliant and artistic recordings. Her phrasing, timing, tone, timbre are all flawless. She has a signature sound and she works the hell out of it here. We're so accustomed to hearing Murray render this song, it throws a great spin on it to hear Shania's interpretation...along with the original vocalist. Sorry, but Shania could not hold Anne's microphone. Listen to the purity in Anne's voice compared to Shania's... both on key, but Anne's voice has so much more depth, richness and maturity.
Voice acting...c'mon!!! Shania is a 'country' singer from her youth...and this style in her voice (particularly the fact that she is now in her 40's) is very natural. AND BEAUTIFUL. YES..she did have a job to do with Ann, but there is only one Shania....the woman who has the PACKAGE!!!

It sounds like bad voice acting by putting in too many sighs and such. I am a fan of singers where you can feel the emotion, but Shania usually fails in this area.

Two great Canadian ladies! Each has made a mark in the music world and serve to show why songs should be the way to peace in this grand planet called Earth. If only the words "You needed me" could be heard by those opposing nations in the world so that each would say "How can you help me?" and sit back to hear the answers. As a child I had night terrors and my mum decided to play Ann Murray records while I feel asleep. I can't say they stop the dreams but I can say they were less frequent and that alone helped me. Thank you Ann.

@APaulaPC - I had this same question before... but someone once explained to me that back then when this song was created, singers/artists were not allowed to sing songs directly to God. So, this is more like an interpretation of God's need of men. Sorta like how God wants to have relationship with his people.
(I am only telling what was told to me. not exactly proselytizing)
