It must be from the PAL version of the cartdrige, on amerian cartdriges the music was faster.

I would love to play the atari version someday. The NES version sucks in that it can only be two player and has fewer songs to choose from, and none of them are even the original tetris theme. Although the atari version gives you more space to work in so it's not as much of a challenge.

From what I understand the Tengen version actually came out before the Nintendo version.

To stephensamperi: Tengen claimed to have the exclusive rights to produce Tetris. At the time, Elorg (who held the contract) had not given any company the rights to produce Tetris, but after a few legal battles (which were after claims) Nintendo has the first rights to produce Tetris. Other companies still went against them, and that's how The Tetris Company got created (in a nutshell).
