Nothing magically "becomes" human. Whatever is human must be human from the beginning. You didnt become human by getting older and bigger, you were just a human who was at an early developmental stage. Killing a fellow human is illegal, which is why abortion should be illegal too...

Well, most abortions aren't performed after 6 weeks, and only for medical reasons are abortions performed after 6 weeks, at the 6 week period, it goes from a embryo to a fetus, hence why it's no longer allowed, unless for medical reasons.

Some doctors will actually perform abortions into the third trimester and most states will abort babies upto 24 weeks which is viable because I work in a NICU and save babies as young as 23 weeks. It's beyond sad. Besides, even if a baby is aborted at 6 weeks, it's still a human life.
@lovemykids2011 My mistake the transition from embryo is between 11 and 12 weeks, but that doesn't negate the fact that optional abortions are not allowed no longer than 6 weeks, that doesn't mean they don't happen, after that period.
Sorry, but at 6 weeks, it's not human, it's an embryo, it doesn't fit the criteria of being a homo sapien, regardless, a women has the right to her body, it's her body, it's her decision, especially if she is a victim of non-consenting sexual acts, and to say a women must go through child birth under those circumstances, is just plain wrong.

@GiselleKug I didn't say states didn't, I said not in so many words that most places won't perform an abortion after 6 weeks unless it's medically necessary... besides, regardless of when, it's the woman's choice, it's her body, it's no one else's right to tell her what to do with her own body... I don't like women having abortions, but I won't complain if she decides to have one, as it's none of my business to tell her what to do, and I'm not going to be a jerk and guilt her out of it either.

Here is a current PDF from the Guttmacher institute, Planned Parenthoods research company which states abortion laws current as of November 1st, 2011. Do yourself a favor and read when abortion is prohibited: 20 weeks, viability, 3rd trimester. This is no where near the 6 week mark. Like I said, there is NO restriction on abortion up until those markers. Only AFTER those markers is it allowed only when medically necessary.
