My top ten in alphabetical order: Attack the Block, Bellflower, Film Socialisme, In the Family, Leap Year, Margaret, Nostalgia for the Light, Polytechnique, Tomboy, and The Tree of Life
great list man! mine were: 10. The Descendants 9. Le Havre 8. Hugo 7. Winnie The Pooh 6. 13 Assassins 5. The Mill and The Cross 4. Take Shelter 3. The Tree Of Life 2. The Artist 1. A Separation
Haven't seen Shame or Certified Copy yet. But I have to say, I REALLY hated The Future and Meek's Cutoff. Especially Meek's because that director makes unwatchable nothing movies. My top ten would be this. 1. Drive 2. The Tree Of Life 3. Hugo 4. Project Nim 5. Melancholia 6. Moneyball 7. The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo 8. Bridesmaids 9. 50/50 10. The Artist 8.
I love Miranda July's The Future. Have you read her book called "It Chooses You"? It's basically her interviewing people from the Pennysaver like in the movie. The guy in the movie who sells the hair dryer is the last interview in the book. Really good stuff, just like the movie.
Good list, surprising, my number one is definitely Drive. I don't think I have to explain it had so much potential to be a run of the mill flick but ended up being a gripping, graphic and intense character study on Driver. Ending sequence of Ryan Gosling killing that guy and sitting in his car = amazing.
It's good to see you back. I like the new setup with the TV in the background. I haven't seen many "great" films this year other than my top two. There's still a lot I need to see, but here's what my top ten looks like so far: 10. Rise of the Planet of the Apes 9. Kung Fu Panda 2 8. 50/50 7. Young Adult 6. The Beaver 5. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2 4. The Muppets 3. Super 8 2. The Tree of Life 1. Hugo
so was your intention for putting the song " a real hero" was to make people think Drive was your favorite movie? if so, mission accomplished. I have definitely been wanting to see Shame for a long time
first, no super 8 or tinker tailor soldier spy! second, drive, the descendants, shame, the artist, and winnie the poo, but that film in my opinion is definetly not as good as the original, are all awesome! And the rest of your top 10 i havent seen. i actually saw a lot more of your honorable mentions though i wonder if you saw mission impossible, sherlock holmes, or harry potter. i think you should expand to more than the somewhat obscure though because you definitely favor much more to the ind
Awesome to see you make another video! I'm still working on my list. I haven't been able to see Shame yet unfortunately. I loved Hunger. I wasn't sure if I was going to add Certified Copy to mine because of when it came out but I will now. I loved it. Great picks!
It's beyond awesome to see you releasing a video again. I loved it when you stated how Alexander Payne is the greatest director at capturing everyday human life. He's truly the Kubrick of the American dramedy b/c of his small filmography (and my 7th favorite director). However, I don't have an official top ten yet b/c I still have several films left to watch before the Oscars. Still great to see you again!
It is so good to see you again, Aaron. Where you been? Great list, but I still need to see half of the movies on there haha. Anyway, here's my personal Top 10 of 2011: 10. The Adventures of Tintin 9. Hanna 8. Rango 7. 50/50 6. The Muppets 5. Warrior 4. The Artist 3. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo 2. The Tree of Life 1. Drive
Haven´t seen that many movies from 2011, but those I´ve seen and I recomend are; A Horrible Way to Die. Man hantingu: Ridenpushon a.k.a. Man hunting redemption. Megan is missing, Misshingu 55 a.k.a. Missing 55, The woman, X-Men: First Class, Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
Except the last 2 all are horror/thriller dramas
I´m really looking forward to The artist, Eskwad that is the company behind it hasn´t failed yet to surprise me ^_^ Drive i need to watch also
10. Attack the Block; 9. Hanna; 8. Submarine; 7. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows part 2; 6. In a Better World; 5. 13 Assassins; 4. Drive ; 3. Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy; 2. Super; 1. We Need To Talk About Kevin
Yes, you're back! I still need to see a bunch of your picks, but of what I've seen, I totally agree with your thoughts. Can't wait to see more videos from you soon!
So glad to see you back, Aaron! I'm quite surprised that Shame became your number one of the year, and it makes me want to see it that much more! Now all you need to do is make that top ten of the year episode with Leland.
