  • I agree with Mr.Daniels about how Networking is so important, especially in this day and age. In order to get your name out there, you cannot just hand out your card, you need to follow up with people you've talked to as well as make a good first impression so that they want to talk to you again.

  • I like what Mr. Daniels says about keeping all your information through out college. I've just started PR so keeping this information for future reference seems it will help in the long term.

  • I absolutely love the information he gives about Greek Life, and how involved with Greek life he is. Also, his input and efforts in internships was awesome! He really seems to be immensely involved and that shows how dedicated he is to the position he holds. He gives really good advice about everything!

    Kayhla S.

  • I agree. He gives great insight on portfolios, being current, obtaining internships, and networking.

    Ali M.

  • His advice on internships is fantastic! Getting out there and being aggressive about it is really powerful advice. Which also ties into his internship with Kraft being his most memorable experience. It was his most memorable experience but it wasnt what he wanted to do. He needed to take that internship to know thats not what he wanted to do, and that says a lot.

  • His philosphy of "starting small" with internships is very encouraging. I always feel pressure from my teacher to go big and to hear his point of view is refreshing.

  • I like that Rick has combined his passion for being Greek with skill set of PR. Its encouraging to see someone stick with what they love while pursuing their goals. I also appreciate the advice he gave on networking and its connection to PR.

  • I really love what Mr. Daniels has to say about internships and starting small and how important it is to have an internship in general. I also love how positive and enthusiastic he is about his career. He seems to be very knowledgeable about Greek life and i would like to see more of what the Greeks do in the Royal Purple.

  • I haven't thought about being in the Greek community, after this video I would love to look into it! In my PR classes they are always talking about getting involved with communities and Greek might be awesome to look into. I am looking into a large internship and I think I forgot about the little internships. I'm glad you spoke your opinion about the lower positions helping anyone in PR.

    Stephanie H

  • I really enjoyed this video because I never really had a clear idea about what Greek life can offer, especially for a PR student. His statement about how a student should not expect that big time opportunity or internship to come right away. A lot of hard work is required to reach that level and having experience at lower level or introductory positions can certainly lead to a big time opportunity.

  • I like that you said "I help promote Greek Life by being a Greek myself". It's easy to relate to people when you have similar grounds. I find it easier to help promote things that I have a genuine interest in that way I know I can devote my time to them.

  • I am not too familiar with the Greek community, but seeing great leaders like Rick Daniels always sparks my interest. I would like to learn more in the future. Good advice about internships by the way. David Q.

  • I absolutely love Rick!! He's my greek advisor and provides the best and worthwhile advice ever. His door is always open. Aside from my personal experiences I believe he provides very substantial advice and I can appreciate his push in promoting students to seek out internships. Like myself Rick also worked in Marketing and Media Relations as a student writer:) I agree with him when he makes note no matter how big or small the opportunity may be take advantage of it.

  • His advice on internships was really inspiring. It was encouraging to hear him say "Don't be afraid to start small."

  • This video is very interesting to me because I don't have anything to deal with Greek societies and now I might join one. Also, being able to do PR seminars I think is very important to do. It is also good to know that you need to keep up to date with things everyday and keep up to date with all you have done!

    ~Nadine R

  • Rick Daniels is someone who is willing to help out students in the Greek community and outside of it. He gives great advice on Public Realtions ideas and stresses on taking any opportunity that may come your way. One of the things he stressed was to keep all of the work you have done as a PR student.

    Jasmina B

  • The videos was really interesting , because I see him all the time around campus and talking to different students. One thing that I really enjoyed about his video is that he was talking about internships. His emphasized about taking small internships just as much as you would take a bigger internship. Stacy C

  • I know Rick personally and I think he is a great guy. I think he represents a positive side of PR on campus. Being a greek advisor on campus is a great way to help the new generation . I also liked how he said to take small internships. I know many people think the small internships don't mean anything but they are small stepping stones to becoming a great PR professional - Stacy C-

  • I love how Rick Daniels is so involved in the UW-Whitewater community because I am as well. He gives very great advice on internships and what to keep in your portfolio. He seems to be the type of person that would help everyone with anything and he is very engaged in what he is saying.

  • Just from watching Rick Daniel's Interview it is easy to see that he is a natural speaker and is very comfortable around people. His interview was very insightful as it felt more like a motivational speech. Seeing someone that passionate about what they do is very encouraging to others.

    -Jessica S.

  • Being able to interact with students on a personal level is crucial in the position that Ric Daniels is in. I also agree with his comment to not discard the small internships. This will help you prepare for networking.

    ~ Jen C.

  • Rick is absolutely fantastic! I have worked with him for couple years now and he is very knowledgeable on Greek life. Rick is a natural speaker and very comfortable with talking in front of any group, any size.

    -Elvisa P.

  • Rick seems like a very cool guy. His advice is very good, i agree with his portfolio idea. I also like his advice to do not be afraid to work on smaller projects because the big ones will come.

    Aaron F

  • Rick gave out a lot of great advice. Like keeping everything in your portfolio like assignments, press releases. Also the advice he gave about internships, don’t be afraid of small internships. He seems very passionate about Greek life and really enjoys his job.

  • This is a very insightful video. Rick seems like a really cool guy. I like his advice about keeping everything, I really needed that reminder! Also, to be aggressive with your internships. We have to really want it and don't be afraid to go for the smaller internships because they lead to the bigger and better ones.

    Carolyn M.

  • Rick Daniels is a very cool guy. I see him around campus a lot and he is very known around uww. I had no idea that he has a degree in PR, and I also didn't know that the greeks on campus had PR within their org. Very insightful video for me

    Brittney Manns

  • I found this video very informative. I had no idea there was a "Greek newsletter." I think it's great that they have things like that to inform the student body. I also thought his advice on taking the small internships was great advice. I had the mindset early in my college career that I wanted the best internship out there but I have learned that we have to take what we can get and work our way to the top. The world won't hand us those opportunities.

    -Nick B

  • This guy seems very chill, down to earth, and easy to work with. His passion and personality really show through. I am just starting to look into internships and I was bummed when I realized how small most of my options are, but hearing that starting small is alright really makes me want to sign on with every small company I can.

    Justin C.

  • It is very interesting to see how greek community is integrating PR into daily life. Daniels points out the "hard work will eventually pay off" mentality that is crucial to success. He also talks about how networking and PR are actively linked. Another interesting point is how networking is hard work and to not get discouraged if a connection is not made.

  • I think its good that Daniels points out that our generation is always looking for the "big deal", and not to be afraid to take the small jobs, because sometimes you have to work towards getting that big deal. Its also good that he points out that just because you hand someone a card, doesn't mean they will call you, you can contact them as well to keep your name fresh in there mind.

    -Emily G.

  • This video was very well done. Rick Daniels gave amazing advice that I will take from watching this. I like how respectively honest he was about things he liked and things he didn’t like. He is very intelligent about Greek life here on campus and they are lucky to have him standing behind them.

    Nicole T.

  • Rick seems to be a very approachable and easy-going person and I really like that about this video. His advice on keeping everything was really good, because you never do know when you're going to need something or be able to use something you did in class. It really made me realize that all the in-class lab assignments really do serve a purpose and aren't just something to do.

    Samie S.

  • This is one of my favorite videos because it was filled with great information about not only our campus but the advantages, do's ,and dont's of PR today. And its nice to see a familiar face for a change makes its easier to relate.

    Precious H.

  • I didn't know their was PR for the Greek community on campus; very interesting. Aggressively pursuing internships and opportunities is so true. It's always good to hear from a professional that sometimes you have to start from the bottom and work your way up to the top. Not getting discouraged is often times the hardest part about applying for internships and other positions, but it is something very important to keep in mind.

  • Rick has some very good insight on things to do to prepare for the PR field. His insight on how you sometimes need to start out with a small internship and work your way up makes me think more positively about the fact that in the PR field you can work your way to the top.

    Lee L.

  • Rick seems like a very personable and open-minded person. Internships are very important to Rick and is a positive promoter of them. He's a very good speaker and comes off as a very reliable source if someone is looking to know about the PR industry and promoting Greek events.

    Anna F.

  • After hearing him explain interships and that its really good to have them its okay to start out small and then go towards something bigger. Everyone wants to get the big internship but instead of waiting around for that take what you can get. He gave a lot of good advice and can relate to students because he's greek also.

    Caitlyn B

  • I thought Rick had really good advice about keeping all the work from public relations classes to be able to pull from them in future jobs. This is great idea and it makes me realize how important class assignments can be. They will make great references to look back on for creating news releases, fact sheets, etc. – Jaime S.

  • I like that Rick valued his internship at Kraft foods every though he did not like working there. The experience is obviously still a valued experience because he needed that experience in order to know that it wasn't for him. Another tip from Rick that I found important was to save all of the work that you do in your classes. Sometimes at the end of the semester we like to "clean house", but the projects that we do during class can be a great example to look back on in the future.

    -Courtney O.

  • I enjoyed how passionate Rick is about Greek life and how he can relate to the students so personally because he was and is a Greek himself. He offered out a lot of good advice about keeping everything you do in school for your portfolio and aggressively pursuing internships and opportunities. I like how he mentioned that even though he did not like working for a fortune 500 company like Kraft, it was a great experience and showed him that that kind of job wasn’t for him.

    -Brittany Kutchera

  • I like how he explained the hardships of greek life, He gave good information about the greek community and his job seems very interactive with students. I always hear to keep everything you have and this is one piece of advice that Rick gave in his video. Its important to note not to be afraid of small internships, big internships will come.

    Jenae S

  • Rick gave me a different perspective of the greek community. I didnt think that it really made a difference being a part that community or not. I knew that the greek community helped the community but he made me realize how important it can be on a resume when your trying to find a job. I need an internship and he makes you realize how important they are.

    _Liz D

  • Rick gave great advice on internship oppurtunities and how important networking is in the world today. I love how passionate he is with the greek community on campus. By having their own pr greek community, helps Rick develope and work with students in a one on one basis. He seems like a great guy who's passionate about his job.

    -Becky Courtney

  • Great advice on the internships. I know it's a fault of mine that I just apply and wait and see what happens. We forget how important it is to constantly pursue those internships and make them happen. Even the little ones.

    -Blythe

  • Being a Greek myself, I know Rick on a personal level and I felt that the Alysondra did an excellent job of capturing Rick’s energy in the video. The part of the video that I liked best was when Rick was talking about the various PR efforts that the Greek community is working on because I am the Public Relations Chairman of the Interfraternity Council so I was aware of all the plans and campaigns that Rick was referring to.

    -Pat L

  • This video is really well done. I like the music throughout the entire video. It is very nice to see someone working here at Whitewater that can help a lot of us out. I am not associated with the Greek community but it seems like he is doing as much as he can to help everyone out.

    -Danny P

  • It's so nice to see someone who is so involved with the students, and giving back to them. I never knew Greeks did this much with the school and the students. What a great way to get involved. Great suggestions about keeping all your work and keeping up with everything that's going on in the community. I love all your advice!

  • Since I am apart of the Greek community I am familiar with Rick Daniels and all he does for the Greeks and this campus. Rick is a great speaker and I love going to events that he is speaking at or hosting because I always know I will come away with something. He had some great advice for students and was very insightful.

  • Rick Daniels is definitely one of the most hands on man in the UWW Greek System. Every time I have seen him speak for even just a brief time, he is always confident and proud of what he does. I think this video really shed a light on him, his career and the campus greeks. Being greek on campus myself, seeing someone who became involved in the system and has a PR background gives me a positive outlook on what I can do in my career. He also gave awesome advice on internships and careers

    -Ariah Z

  • This video was one of my favorites. I loved how they used music in this video, it gave it a more comfortable feel. I also loved how they didn't just use anyone to promote Greek. They used someone who was actually part of being Greek. It really gives a good look into how important it is to be involved in stuff on campus. I liked how he said you really don't know what it is like until you experience it. I feel like that is very true.

    Britt P

  • I thought this video was great! I've gotten a lot of advice for my college and professional career, but he had many new ideas to offer. I liked his advice to keep everything for your portfolio, to keep up with current events, and to accept the small internships. Any advice is appreciated, but I felt like he took to the time to go into detail with it and wanted to help the students today.

    -Jessica Loizzo

  • Rick Daniels gives excellent advice on how to create small opportunities into bigger ones with the use of networking and following up on job openings and possible resume building experiences. It is also nice to get advice from someone who is an active faculty member on our campus and devoted to promoting high standards and building on positive futures for students both Greek and non Greek.

  • Rick Daniels is such an asset to the UWW Greek System. He knows how things go,and he offers great ideas for students that are currently working towards their degrees. He touches on networking, portfolios, and social media. All of these things will help with internship searches or job applications.

    Cassie K

  • Good advice on how small things can lead to bigger and better opportunities. I also like that he works on campus with the Greek community. The Greek community does do a lot with the community but can't seem to get passed those stereotypes. I also agree with his opinion of Royal Purple and how they need to cover more events such as things organizations do on campus instead of having 2-4 pages dedicated to student's opinions on various topics.

    KA

  • I love how this video is an interview not only with an alumni, but with someone who still works on campus so we can identify his work!

I also really enjoy his advice about pursuing internships. I won't be afraid of the small internships!

  • I love the introduction as well. I also I agreed when Rick's advise for the students was to keep everything as a portfolio to share with all of your possible chance to show off what you can do to a client or possible internship.

  • I really like the opening that you did with the Greek mission and the shots of the plagues and things were really cool. You did a really nice job editing this video. Nice Job!! I really enjoyed it! :-)
