  • He's performing on Sunday the 15th in Portland, backspace.bz, go if you are at all able to.

  • What's the song in the background?

  • @pikaachooo Its "Window" by The Album Leaf

  • i was there for this performance it was just breathless.

  • @MeYamoMira you were fortunate :)

  • he says our love is an apple

  • This is so freaking beautiful. I don't even know how many times I've listened to it, and I say 'listen to it' because I've downloaded the audio to listen to off my iphone. Believe me, laying in bed at night with all the lights off with only this to listen to is truly beautiful.

  • "unearth everything from before, bury eachother inside the other" has to be one of my favourite lines of all time. thank you

  • at the end, does he say "our love is an apple" or "our love is an arrow"? anyone?

  • @brosehemian arrow.

  • @brosehemian or maybe it is apple lol. not sure anymore.

  • @brosehemian "sarah, we are apples, our love is an apple"

  • @brosehemian "sarah, we are apples, our love is an arrow, i'm unbuttoning my shirt, painting a circle over my heart, please, just shoot straight."

"our love is an arrow" makes much more sense than "our love is an apple". just listen to the entire thing in context.

    combo.

  • i'd buy his book

  • fuck me like a prayer haha

  • I love that he's actually playing that tiny little piano for the first half. (The original track doesn't have it.)

  • I absolutely ADORE this from the very outset.

  • I can't stop listening/watching this. It brings tears to my eyes. Is there somewhere were I can find the poem written or a recording of this that I can download for my ipod?

  • @dragonx329 buy it on itunes or buy one of his book and help the guy out!!! same goes to all ya

  • it's just something about his voice. diction. accent? delivery? *faints* talk about solitary tear running down my cheek at the end *smh* this is beautiful.

  • My eyes teared up while listening to this.

  • nothing can explain Paris better

  • revolutionary lovers running through paris . . . this blew my mind

  • Does anyone know what song is playing?

  • @ROa2, it's too bad that you have misunderstood the poem.

  • I suppose this is another one of those things that's too avant-garde for 6 other people and myself. Hipsters are so odd these days...

  • @ROa2 its really not that avant-garde

  • @ROa2 I'm not a hipster, and i love him.

you should not be so close minded

  • makes the hair of lovers stand on end.

  • @Astonish70 i could not have said it better myself..

  • This is one of the most beautiful things I have ever hear, felt or seen. Like magic.

  • Does anybody know where I can the written words of this? I want to put it on the front of my binder to see everyday, but I can't understand all the words right and I would like to have it written somewhere. It's so inspirational. I cried

  • @freaklingg check the your wall

  • I am unbuttoning my shirt.

Painting a circle over my heart.

    Please, just shoot straight.

    chills.

  • this is the first poem i ever heard that made me cry

  • you can't really ask "why did he say that?" "what does that mean?" "why is it called this?"

it's from his heart, his mind. it can be anything. (:

  • @hikatieloll Well, yes and no. Most of the obscure lines in the opening section are art references, which makes sense as he has his MFA. Things like 'feed grapes to the ants' is a reference to Dali, because he would paint Ants to symbolize death and decay. So here Anis is saying that we should encourage the breakdown of what is previously held in love, art, and society.

  • I just want the tiny piano

  • My fav is shake the dust

  • man...this one still leaves me drying my eyes when it's done.

  • i listen to this every fucking day. it will never get old.

  • Why did he named the poem Milos?

  • @mudanat my guess would be because of the Venus de Milo in the Louvre which he mentions there is also the line about "an armless mother praying for her arms to return" hope that helps

  • @pantsonparade

    :)

    Not really,what does Milos means?

    Sorry for being stupid :)

  • @mudanat Milos is the Island that the Venus comes from, and now she resides in The Louvre. Anis told me that this poem is just a different kind of love poem than he had ever written.

  • @pantsonparade

    Never mind,found it on wikipedia

  • anis is in a different level and it's verry verry rare to find people like him!! this poem is like medicine calms me doooooown!! peace

  • god i love this

  • I can't stop listening. This is such an inspiration...

  • i love it, but i didnt interpret the poem right. can someone explain?

  • i can listen to this hours on end.

  • His poems make me catch my breath...Music+Anis poetry=perfection <3

  • sara is the luckiest girl in the world

  • i don't think this could get any more beautiful.

  • this is a beautiful piece of poetry.

he warms you inside and breathes into you, fresh air. im so glad i found him. kudos anis.

  • This is absolutely perfect.

  • This poem is absolutely amazing. Anis, you have allowed me to travel back to a rather happy time in my life with this poem... i love it... it makes you reminisce about your first true love... lol it makes me smile inside... Thanks you Anis...

  • what the fuck

  • Album Leaf Window.

  • creative,original.simple.diverse.transcendent.complicated as well.emotionally raw.absolutely amazing. you gotta love anis.

  • He brings emotions into words in a way that I can't even fathom. His pacing, his demeanor, it's beauty.

  • his poetry takes everyone back to the place of purity and truth that we've all lost with tme...each & every poem of his that i've heard has hit me in the same place.

i place that i havent visited since i was a child.

he cultivates a purity that we only reminses about...

    its beautiful.

  • He inspires me on so many levels. His words are like blessings we yearn to get a hold of. Thank you for being here, Anis.
