There's not enough of a difference for me to go out and buy a Blu-Ray player. The only time I really ever watch movies is out in the living room with my mom on the HDTV and the picture is just fine without hurting my eyes like Blu-Ray does. It's not worth the money. Only reason I'm actually trying to get an HDTV in my room is due to difficulty in reading video game font but other than that I don't see what the fuss is all about. I'm pretty grateful for what I have.
i hate the way companys cash in on the name blu ray thinking people are fooled, its like when dvd came out, most of the time it was just converted straight of vhs not the original format, and really poor dvd now stands out on hd lcd t.vs lol, just like most bluray conversions of old film is upscalled dvd, blu ray doesnt mean that the image is going to be perfect all the time, i can upscale any shitty image to 1080p if you get what i mean
back in the early 2000s when dvd was king and there were no HDTV's but only crt's dvd movies looked plain awesome. Now any television or dvd player can upscale the dvd image to 1080i, improving greatly the picture
is not much difference, and Sony let me to fuck the blu-ray is 1080p and I do not mind that because your ps3 has blu-ray is better not see much difference and I'm not just saying any company because most of the Sony (do not say all) when I give my opinion and I see no difference many eggs I fuck so here I say ALMOST LIKE yOU SEE. :)
You know whats funny about this shit is there is gonna always be something greater coming out. Eventually I'll have a fucking VHS, Laserdisc, DVD, Blu-Ray & some new shit coming out soon of the same fucking MOVIE just because some entertainment service says that so & so is the next best thing. Hollywood got us all fucked up
I saw Avatar on blu-ray and IT LOOKED F-ING GREAT! I can't even describe the details i saw, it's the most sharp and perfectly clear picture I've ever seen in my life. The difference between blu-ray and DVD is 10 times bigger than the difference between DVD and VHS. The people who say they can't see a difference have most likely never seen a blu-ray movie on a big TV screen so they have no say in this matter. Pause the video at 0.27 and look at this hat. See how much clearer it looks?
@SaltNPeppuh ...continued from previous comment. And this is a YouTube video in 720p on a small computer monitor. The difference you see in this video is huge, just wait until you see Avatar on a 50 inch HD TV. Your mind will BLOW AWAY! My jaw was on the floor the entire time I was watching Avatar on blu-ray. I could see every single hair, every single wrinkle on the face but I can't even describe how beautiful the "nature" scenes in this movie looked. It was amazing!
Buy Avatar BR & DVD combo pack. Hook Blu-Ray and DVD player up to 1080 HD TV. Play both formats at the same time and flick between the two. This will show anyone that Blu-Ray is superior.
This comparison is not console related. It's DVD MOVIE vs BLU-RAY MOVIE media format. I have an Xbox 360, and a Blu-Ray player in my living room. I support Blu-Ray when it comes to movies.
hd is better but dvd still looks good

Actually even just EDTV 480p shows a huge difference over fuzzy 480i video, so 720p here is just over killing and crushing 480i as would 1080p.

can decrease the qualitiy of a bluray under a dvd
